My wife and I enjoyed our overnight stay. The room was pleasant, the bed comfortable, the bedding clean, and a nice-sized bathroom. Is it everyone's cup of tea? Probably not, but we quite enjoyed it. The front desk help was pleasant and friendly, the restaurant staff were bending over backwards to make sure we had a good experience, and after a LONG day of traveling it was nice to have such pleasant people around us. We didn't turn on the TV, don't know if the phone worked, didn't get bugged by ancillary noises, just was able to relax and get a great night's sleep. read more

Breakfast burrito had cold cheese the first time and was 3 different sizes completely each time. Out of beer battered French fries on both occasions I ordered veggie burgers which were said to come with them. Extremely slow to take order in both restaurants on several occasions, and after bringing food (which required ketchup [burger and fries], had to wait ages to begin meal for ketchup to come. -Alarm clock going off repeatedly at 5am on checkout day. I never set up that alarm and it only went off on check out day. If that is something they do to guests on check out day, that is just abusive. I had to unplug the entire clock and alarm system to make it stop. What didn't go wrong? I run a business so I understand the challenges faced, but this hotel honestly has no business letting itself run in this state. Every single facet needs a huge overhaul. And the price is ludicrous, and just exists because they're the only nearby hotel. First Google review of my life, because I've never been this miffed by a business before that I felt it my absolute duty to save others from a similar experience. My wife's reservation, made back in April, was abruptly cancelled without any prior notification or explanation. When she arrived to check in on August 8th, despite having all confirmation emails, she was informed that Britany had cancelled the reservation the night before at 11 PM. This occurred with no communication whatsoever--no email, no call, nothing. After years of loyalty and frequent visits to Ketchikan for medical reasons, this treatment is completely unacceptable. We will not be spending another dime with this new management. read more

This review is 100% for a member of the staff named Lynne (I hope I spelled that correctly) who cleans the rooms and is absolutely wonderful! I was looking for an item I had lost, and she took time away from her cleaning to help me find it. Often times, it is the staff that make or break an establishment and while the front desk folks were not particularly friendly, Lynne was amazing. Above and beyond! As you may know, I travel for a living. Traveling for a living means I stay in a lot of hotels. A lot of hotels. Many, many hotels. I've become somewhat of a 'hotel snob' over the years, and since I spend multiple days in each location it's got to be good, right? This is my first, hopefully not my last, visit to Alaska. We took the ferry from Bellingham, Washington to Ketchikan, Alaska (which is another review all by itself) and landed in Ketchikan. As far as I can tell, there are really only three hotels in Ketchikan, and during our visit here I will be staying in two of them. The first is the Landing Hotel. Formerly a Best Western, they underwent a change in management and have struck out on their own. A good move, I think. The hotel is clean and cozy and is across the road from the ferry docks: very convenient. I had a large room with a king bed and the usual accessories: TV, mini-fridge, microwave and Keurig coffeemaker (I have a refillable K-cup so I can use my preferred coffee in it). A nice bonus: two white, fluffy bathrobes and premium soaps and shampoo. The room was quiet and the functional window has a screen so I could crack it open for fresh air. No typical HVAC unit here: a baseboard heater keeps the chill away (but I didn't need it). The parking lot is small but there's a garage for normal vehicles (ours is too tall but we found a space in the open). The staff are...amazing. Friendly but not cloying, they are focused on making customers happy, and they excel at it. Properly masked and with sanitizer in easy reach, they made my all-too-brief stay a real pleasure. So when, not if, you come to visit Ketchikan, stay here at the Landing Hotel. You will not be sorry! read more

The front desk staff were winderfyl and as accommodating as they could be. The first nught, we were unable to locate the thermostat (it was hidden behind a lamp) and the front desk said it was turned off. So that first night was a little uncomfortable. But the SECOND night was ridiculous. There were 6 of us in our party and we gathered in the sitting area near our room #316. We did have beer with us. The "General Manager" first insulted us by "ensuring" we had a room at the hotel (we, in fact had 3). Then suggested we would be more comfortable if we all gathered in our room #316. I can understand if we were being rowdy but the average age here was 60 and we were not "partying". We did retire to our room. No problem UNTIL... There was an event occuring on the roof of the building - directly over our bed. The noise was deafening - particularly the "bass" The girl at the front desk was kind enough to dig up some ear plugs - not great but she tried. A room change was offered but it was 9:30 and I had hoped the noise would subside before any move could be completed. That experience was trying to say the least. read more

Stayed at The Landing for one night on a brief trip to Ketchikan in December. It is located a short walk from the ferry terminal that takes you to the airport. What impressed me the most was how comfortable and clean the hotel was, and the furniture, TV, and other furnishings looked fairly new. We chose to walk into downtown Ketchikan (which is slightly less than two miles) and also took the local bus as well. The staff at The Landing were very friendly and helpful, and they have a neat little diner type restaurant where we had a delicious breakfast. On our next trip to Ketchikan we will most definitely stay here. read more

It's like staying in an ashtray. Surprised the fire department isn't fining them. The breakfast vouchers are only good until 10am even though they serve breakfast all day. The staff are nice and the rooms sub par. They're just old and half of the items in the room broken. You can hear everything through the walls. The guy in the room next to me had oxygen equipment that kept beeping and was in a w/c. He was smoking on the porch in front of his room next to our room door all night. I'm asthmatic, I felt like I couldn't breath thanks to their lax ability to follow fire code. I wouldn't recommend staying here for $500 night. read more

This was my 1st time staying here and I loved it. Were something's a little bit older, yes, but the overall effect was wonderful. They remind u of what Hotels could be like when they care about themselves and their guests. A shuttle that will take u anywhere in City Limits, until sometime in the evening. The good, friendly for the most part, room was sufficiently up to date. Decent restaurant in the hotel. The bad, room had no airflow and of course no air conditioning and the heat was left on though it was in the 60's and sunny when I arrived. The really bad, to gain airflow of some sort I opened the bathroom window and the main area windows (there are small fans in the closet), helped but not greatly, especially since the staff smokes cigarettes under the awning and I had to shut the bathroom window because of the stench. I mentioned this to the front deck clerk upon checkout, told me to fill out a suggestion card, no apology. read more

Great hotel! From the moment we walked in the doors, we were greeted so warmly. Mylene graciously checked us in early as our ferry arrived mid-morning. She then managed to upgrade us to a suite and gave us vouchers for breakfast! What a welcome to Ketchikan! Mylene also made sure we had everything we needed during our 4 day stay...she's a gem and The Landing is very lucky to have such great person representing them. The free shuttle was much appreciated, as was our driver (Dana?). She was very accommodating and informative and managed to make a rainy day shopping and sightseeing trip fun. We ate at both restaurants while we were here...The Landing and Jeremiah's. Delicious! We've been traveling around Alaska for 2 1/2 weeks and this is by far the nicest hotel we've stayed at. Actually could have given them another 1/2 star. Tough to grade this as I normally stay at Westin's and Marriott's for work but stayed here following a fishing trip before flying out the next morning. The bad stuff is having rooms in narrow hallways in high traffic areas. Stairs that make it tough to roll bags as you have to carry them occasionally. Little on the older side. TV was pretty small and not really setup for the modern day electronics with ample plugs. The good stuff is that the beds were pretty comfortable, clean room and bathroom. Had a decent restaurant and bar on site. Nice staff and shuttle that gets you around town and to the ferry if you need to get to the airport. All in all not bad for an overnight stay. read more

Compared to My Place (next door) it's dated. The staff seemed stressed and unwilling to assist. The restaurant is convenient but the food is only decent. The hotel claims free breakfast- it is actually a voucher for $10 (there is one $10 item on the menu), and you have to eat between the hours of 6am and 8am. The hotel manager Kevin, was kind and offered an adjustment after we realized the situation with the breakfast. In general the rooms are fine, just be prepared to pay high rates with subpar service. read more

We arrived in Ketchikan on a Saturday night in the pouring rain. The hotel told us to call when we were on the ferry from the airport which we did. Upon arriving at the exit terminal we called the hotel again. They said their van was on the way to pick us up. After waiting 30 minutes we called again. The hotel is one mile from the ferry terminal. No one answered. After 15 minutes of trying to reach the desk someone finally answered. She said they forgot and would send someone. No a great beginning to our vacation. The hotel is very dated and needs repairs. Someone needs to clean all the cigarette butts in the stairwells and on the property. It Makes the hotel shabby and unclean. Our room was clean and unremarkable. We were in the "newer" section. I can only assume the older rooms were pretty dire. The bath/shower is an accident waiting to Halley. It's an awkward step up. The next day we tried to get the van to take us downtown. Kayla said it was first come first serve. There was no one there. We couldn't get a ride so ended up walking. Kayla was extremely rude and unhelpful. We stayed away as much as we could. read more

Nice, well kept property - front desk (Kim) check in was a very pleasant experience; and the general manager (Linda) invited me to a quaint managers reception that night up in Jeremiahs Pub - enjoyable conversation, good nibbler, and a comfortable dining room "convinced" me to not seek another dinner alternative. The Pot Roast was cooked to perfection, and the wait service (Albert) was engaging and yet another gem in some lol around great customer service. Very nice locally owned hotel in Ketchikan. The rooms are very clean and nicely appointed, the beds are comfortable. Check in was a breeze and if you are lucky you'll get a parking space out of the rain. Each Wednesday the hotel sponsors a reception in Jeremiah's the pub for a hour for visitors with free drinks and appetizers. During that time I met Linda, the general manager, who is very friendly and accomodating. While I did not use the shuttle, it is available to take you anywhere you need to go in Ketchikan, within reason of course. I received a $10 voucher for breakfast each morning I was there at their cafe, which is just fine for me since I only each a couple of eggs with my coffee. Be prepared to pay more if you are a big eater. Cafe staff were friendly and it looks to be a place where locals like to be for breakfast. Jeremiah's, upstairs from The Landing cafe, was good for dinner. Prices are a bit higher, but you'd expect that for good service and good food. Oh, and did I say clean....yes! I've been staying at this hotel about 2 weeks a year since 2009. They've always been good to me and now they give you vouchers for breakfast in their café! However, they are dire need of a remodeling. A few years ago the renovated the restaurant upstairs and now they need to renovate and modernize the rooms. read more

Not very handicap friendly. If your in a wheel chair it's hard to get around in the hall ways of the hotel because the maids carts are left there. The elevator was broken when I first got their and they over charged the card by $115. The food was great but spendy... read more

This hotel is awesome! We came in to Ketchikan on the Alaska Ferry and badabing, it's right across the street! We checked in way early and badabing our room was ready! We needed to get to places and the shuttle van was there for our beck and call. All day long! Terrific! The beds and linens and pillows are divine! The front desk staff took care of our every need!
