I read all of the reviews before choosing this firm and was initially optimistic about hiring them, but our experience did not turn out as expected. We hired these lawyers expecting them to be professional and careful, but we feel they showed zero fight in defending us. Unfortunately, this was our experience in a nutshell. My husband and I hired them for a disorderly charge in Hazel Park. We provided them with critical evidence--including video footage establishing harassment by neighbors, false statements in police reports, explaining there was police bodycam footage contradicting the noise allegations, and we also explained that some of our neighbors would be witnesses. I also explained that we were never cited for any of the accusations. However, in our view, the attorneys failed to review or utilize any of it. Instead of investigating the facts, challenging the weak discovery, or building a defense, we felt they ignored our concerns and just wanted to resolve the case by having us plead guilty. We felt that they were minimizing the situation as just a "low misdemeanor." We felt their lack of preparation directly impacted our case outcome. I can't begin to explain the mental and financial impact this had on my family. Beyond our $10,000 retainer agreement, we were charged an additional $331 for video discovery. Despite paying for these materials, they failed to provide it to us until after our court hearing had already concluded. We did not get a chance to review critical evidence to make an informed decision to proceed with trial or sign the plea agreement. We initially signed and pleaded to a 6 month delayed sentence with the city's attorney and the lawyers, and upon successful completion, it will be dismissed. However, once we went for sentencing, they changed the agreement and sentenced us to 10 months delayed sentence. We had the choice to withdraw our plea or accept sentence. At this point, we were over all the injustice and wanted to be done, so we continued with the sentence. We felt that they did not have our best interests at heart. We had to turn in CPL licenses, subjected to a no contact order, attend an impulse class at our expense, pay court costs, and my husband complete 25 hours of community service. We were left dealing with the consequences of their failure to advocate for us. In our opinion, this firm took our money, ignored our evidence, and did not defend their clients. Our case is officially dismissed as of today and we wanted to share our perspective on how our case was handled. Since this review, we are now being threatened for defamation or either remove the review. Now we are in fear of retaliation because we chose to exercise our first amendment right regarding our personal experience with this law firm. We believe in GOD, and our faith and prayers got us through this rough time. No evil prospered against us, and no power is above Jehovah, the Almighty. Derrick can careless about your time, and efforts of finding the sewer works in. These text message prove that after I terminated my representation with him within 24 hours. He tried charging me double, and after I did more research the very next day, he dropped his price by 40 percent. Like how is that possible 24 hours later? Then he got upset and felt like I didn't have the right to cancel representation from him and his law firm, after losing credibility. I had a DUI situation that was a little different because I don't live in Michigan but got pulled over in this state. Troy to be exact, which I've heard is extremely strict and punitive about DUIs. I was nervous about what I was looking at as a worst-case scenario. I couldn't afford to be detained in Michigan for any reason because I couldn't lose my job out of state.
