Now you will step into a piece of history all around you while you're here. This was a Civil War era site that was used for hard tack for soldiers. They have trees in this park with blood stained stress of the past. They have a monument of democracy that is on display that highlights the accounts and accomplishments of the founding of what it means to be "free." How many centuries of strife and struggle that we endured and still have today. Be proud of your ancestors and what they accomplished and remember the past. Walk in the park and enjoy the parades and celebrations that the city puts on. This is a little beautiful slice of history and heaven here. Walk out and see what was and has been preserved for you.

The park has plenty of nice area to sit and relax and they have a couple cool sculptures that you can learn about us history. Including the visually impressive Thomas Jefferson statue. Overall cool and nice park that is a good place to just hang out and enjoy a day and take in some sights.

Seeing a former standout like her who went on to have a successful basketball career and even reach the professional level adds a lot to the campus atmosphere. The display does a nice job of recognizing alumni achievements and showing students what can come out of hard work and dedication. It gives the school a sense of tradition and accomplishment that you can appreciate even just passing by.

Lewis & Clark Started here!…read more This is evidently where General George Rogers Clark started recruiting a team of people for discovery that became the Lewis & Clark Expedition. They left here on October 26, 1803 and returned on November 5, 1806. The house is locked, but what I was told is that in the warmer months it's opened up and you can walk around inside. There isn't much to see as far as the property goes, but turn around and look at the gorgeous falls of the Ohio river, downtown Louisville and the bridges. It's breathtaking!!

The Colgate- Palmolive Clock? That's a mouth full!…read more The building is a huge brick structure, it opened in 1847 as a prison. A fire took it out of commission in 1919. Now the prisoners were relocated to Pendleton. Before the Colgate company bought the building the prisoners did the hard labor of converting the building to a factory. The clock that adorns this building today is on the Indiana historic registration site. The clock was originally made for a centennial celebration of the Colgate co. This was done in 1906. It was moved to Indiana in 1924 and restored by the locals of Clarksville for the start of the new factory. We can still see this large time today . It's still keeps time for all to see still over Clarksville, In today. It's a small landmark that's been in the landscape for over a hundred years . What a stunning piece?

The factory has been closed since Colgate-Palmolive relocated the plant in 2008, and since then, the site has been abandoned. The Colgate Clock is one thing... it's one of the largest clocks in the world with a measurement of 40-ft across and has been staring out over the Ohio River since 1924 and people in Clarksville can tell what time it is from over a mile away at one point in time. It was built to celebrate the company's centennial in 1906. The clock has not been in working condition. We got there at 6:30p and it's stuck at 4:15 LoL! Still worth a quick trip, though. The condemned building is another thing. The building itself has so much history... prior to its life as a factory, it served as a state prison during the Civil War then in 1847 a reformatory until 1922. I wonder if the building is haunted... home to several restless spirits??
