My husband has cancer. After Chemotherapy they put in a port because his veins are shot. Every single time he goes there they don't use it for blood draws. I have asked them to, he has asked them to, they refuse. Always some excuse. I don't know whether they don't know how or what but someone should know. Today the nurse lied to my face and told me EMS put in the IV catheter when they did not. He even has a bracelet for it right where she put the IV! When I complained she told me I was verbally abusive and she would call security. I'm done with this place. I'll find him new doctors if I have to! Also six months after I paid an invoice they billed me again for another 70 saying I didn't pay enough! Worst place ever! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I was admitted for a serious infection. The first night/day was great but it went downhill after that. The nurses do not like being questioned. The nurse at one point said she needed to bring me my insulin pen and I looked at her like she was crazy. I wear a pump. What if they had administered insulin while I was asleep? When I asked why a particular med was not brought (evening) they said I'd already taken it. I absolutely did not. I know my med schedule and I am meticulous about sticking to it. Then they decided to abruptly kick me out because they needed a bed. Would not even allow me to wait until my ride got off of work. I was told to either take an uber (I live 30 minutes away in a less populated area) or wait in the lobby. My labs were still (especially my kidneys) and I was still anemic. This fits the description of patient abandonment and will be dealt with accordingly. read more

Beware they will bill you allot for services that they did not give. Terrible experience. ER visit. A sick relative refused narcotics. They make them sick. Throw up sick. They were charged for them. They were not allowed to dispute the charge. Due to staffing negligence with documentation, something worthy of a legal investigation, the relative got an extra 600 dollar charge. This place needs change. Do not go here. Go to Lexington. Read the other reviews for here. It's long waits and big bills. read more

Went there was charged $6,000 dollars they told me when I asked what my diagnosis was the doctor said they don't give diagnosis they just make sure there is no emergency and I should see a specialist the next day. The first staff member I dealt with seemed inconvenienced by my arrival. So bad first impression. The radiologist was sooo nice and I would give him 5 stars. My wait was very short. 5 stars. My bill was astronomical for the care I received as I didn't even see a doctor, just imaging done. 1 star. The billing department was extremely helpful. 5 stars! Took my son here in March of 2015 for stitches in his hand. The service itself was great. The ER wasn't busy, and we were in and out completely in under 2 hours. The nightmares have come from billing. When we arrived, I did all the normal paperwork and my insurance card was copied by a staff member. Another staff member came back and told me my expected out of pocket expense after running my insurance card, but offered me a 50% discount if I paid it immediately. I did this. Fast forward and I started receiving bills for the full amount from both the hospital and the Emergency Physicians group (Southeastern Emergency Physicians, a sub group under Team Health and MESA, Marshall Emergency, I have found). I made calls to straighten this out, and was informed that claim was denied due to "no such policy exists". This was incorrect, as clearly our policy does exist, and other doctors have had NO problem submitting claims and being paid for services. I gave the insurance info again, over the phone this time, and was told "aha! Problem was a missing number from the policy ID" Good. Now you can bill. Yeah, not quite. So a few more months went by, and Georgetown Hospital never billed my policy. I have access through our Anthem site to see ALL claims that are submitted, whether accepted or denied. Nada from either group submit a claim. Georgetown Community, however, did not send me anymore bills and eventually submitted a claim in late August or Sept (can't recall off the top of my head). Claim was denied. I called Anthem to find out why. Turns out, GCH submitted the claim without the correct information needed for processing. Anthem informed GCH of this. Someone from GCH called Anthem, and Anthem gave me the person's name and the exact date and time of the call. Anthem also took a proactive approach and called GCH again while I waited, to try and resolve the issue, being how they hadn't received anymore contact from GCH. GCH, tho, has not sent me anymore bills. Which they shouldn't, as this is an issue on their end of someone not doing their job correctly. The ER physicians they use, however, HAVE sent me multiple bulls despite my having given them the insurance information yet again even after the hospital copied the actual card while we were in. They have never submitted a claim, according to Anthem documents, and have now sent me to collections. In talking to the collection agency, where I once again gave over the insurance information, I was told they had indeed billed Anthem and that the claim was denied. Anthem's documentation for our policy has shown that no claim has ever been submitted to be approved or denied. In the meantime, all of our other physicians from various labs, hospitals, and offices have managed to use this same insurance information to get all of their claims paid for their services for everyone in our family who is covered. This is still an ongoing issue, with certified mailed letters disputing, calls and faxes being bandied about with copies of the insurance card provided yet again. Still no claim has been made by the ER physicians that GCH uses, nor has GCH gotten back with Anthem to provide them with the required information to get their claim paid for. Save yourself the billing headache and go elsewhere. read more

SECURITY on night shift is REALLY more than courteous! I REALLY feel safer knowing they are doing such a GREAT JOB! Im homeless and i was sitting out front charging my phone and it was around 10-11 pm and had 2 security guards come and make sure i was ok 2 separate instances of course. And to make sure of what i was doing. Now granted i stay around this area for the Wi-Fi so they kinda know me now but still, they are quick to let people know there will be no nonsense around here. And also VERY courteous not like other places. Just follow the rules and listen and they will treat you with the same respect u show them! That is for sure! I had to go to the E.R. for chest pains today. While running through the checks and procedures, the staff was nothing but kind, warm, compassionate, and professional. Even when they believed they knew what was wrong, they ran a couple more tests to discover I had clotting in the lunges. I cannot express how much I appreciate everything they did and how they treated the situation. Even with how bad the news was, this was one of the best interactions I've had in an E.R. I would hope that this caliber of personnel is the norm. read more

Came in today for an x-ray ordered by my chiropractor. From Covid check, registration, check into radiology, having the x-rays and them giving me a copy disc, it was just 30min. Everyone was friendly, organized & precautious of the virus. Great service. Thank you! read more

Literally got there at 130 pm and didn't get me in the back until 3 pm! After sitting there in pain for an HR n a half they call me back where I waited another HR before anything was done. The care was mediocre at best Everytime they would leave for a tool or script or whatever it would take 20 mins....the doc was nice enough but none of them had sympathy and they acted like they knew it all and it was normal nothing was done to fix or prevent the problem instead it was bandaided. I won't personally be going back and don't recommend it. read more

Posting Anonymously for my own protection. Not a review of the quality of service, but rather the quality of their billing procedures. TAKE NOTE: This hospital does not directly employ the Doctors working in their ER. Those physicians are contracted out by Southeastern Emergency Physicians LLC, or other such companies. The hospital also sometimes fails to communicate insurance information to said LLC, resulting in the LLC trying to contact you later so they can bill you separately. And of course, these physicians are likely out-of-network for your insurance even if the hospital was in-network. This means if you are unconscious and/or unable to refuse care from these physicians, they will treat you, bill you for $$$$$, and leave you arguing with insurance as to if it was or wasn't a "real" emergency. Then if you can't pay or don't get the letter/bill to begin with, the LLC will take you to court or put you in collections, charging you even more money than they would have gotten from your insurance had they negotiated. You very often don't get a choice of physician in the ER, so you need to make your choice before hand. DON'T GO TO GEORGETOWN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL ER, they outsource your care. "This is the health equivalent of a carjacking." Called surprised billing, such a practice is DESPICABLE, hiding out-of-network physicians at in-network hospitals. Insurance will pay the ER and hospital but not the Physician. AVOID GEORGETOWN COMMUNITY HOSPITAL ER! read more

Took my daughter here a few days ago. She was running a fever of a 103.9. The doctor checked her for flu,step throat, and rsv. The doctor came back said everything was negative. Two days after I received my daughter's lab works. She was positive for flu b but we was told otherwise. My daughter could have died or gotten her grandmother very sick and she couldn't have died just by catching the flu. Don't appreciate how they handle this situation. I contacted someone with the hospital but they still haven't contacted back with any response. read more

I went in for extreme abdominal pain and they performed a CAT scan on me and had me drink a GI cocktail to see if they could find anything wrong. They told me "well.... a stomach bug is going around so that might be what you're having". We asked if they could do an ultrasound to check my gallbladder, because we were not convinced that i was experiencing a "stomach bug", and they said that there is no point in an ultrasound since they were sure that it was not my gallbladder causing the problem. I went home after they prescribed some medication for my nausea and abdominal pain. I woke up on Saturday morning at 2:30am with severe abdominal pain again and decided to go to UK hospital instead. UK immediately got me in and performed an ultrasound and found that I had GALL STONES!!! They also said that I would need surgery to relieve the pain and I am now scheduled to remove my gallbladder at UK. This has not been the first time Georgetown Hospital has disappointed me and my family. I will not be coming here in the future for any medical aid if I am conscious enough to say so. Also, I am NOT paying the bill they charged me for their precious time. Why pay them to tell me I have a "stomach bug" when really I have to remove my gallbladder that they said there was no point in even looking at. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! read more

Fact is, we have made visits to Georgetown Hospital on numerous occasions over the years and have found staff to be always helpful, efficient, and polite. Service has always been quick. My daughter went here for an emergency room visit in December 2015 for upper respiratory issues. Our insurance company (nurse hotline) recommended that she go due to her symptoms. The hospital spelled her name wrong (even though they saw her driver's license and her spelling on multiple forms). This caused a TON of problems. They left important documents in common view, with patients' names, addresses on them. When she asked what a particular medication was that she was being given, the nurse had no clue what it was. read more

I can't even begin to give this establishment any stars because their establishment is the pits. First, my son-in-law brought home covid positive to his family and my daughter who has diabetes uncontrolled came down sick and went to the doctor at the ER first but elected not to stay in the hospital and went home on oxygen two days later went back to the ER and she had pneumonia and spent 5 days in hospital. First day admitted to a room and then into ICU for about 3 or so days and then out into another room that was meant for one person with a coughing lady all night and next day the lady went to ICU and then she was discharged. Thank goodness. She never had a bath for the time she was there and when she mentioned it nothing was ever said or done. She got to brush her teeth only one time and that was the day she was discharged. She was very glad to get home and was able to clean herself up. She was given Xarelto to help prevent clots while she was bedridden on iv's etc. even after she went home she was told she should take it a month after. She developed thrush from a yeast infection in her mouth and other. She started having a period again after not having one for 6 months and passing large clots about the size of 50 cent piece. She has antiphospholipid syndrome and there is a warning on the page of this drug that says if you have this syndrome you are not to be placed on this medicine. I being around nursing for 22 years but not a nurse told her about that. Tonight I called the nurse on call for her because her phone she could not call out on due to the explosion in Nashville TN yesterday morning apparently and was told she should go to the UTC on Osborne road in Georgetown or the ER there. She decided to go to the UTC first and was told they couldn't see her cause their Ultrasound Machine was at the ER at the hospital. She then went to the ER and I think it was about 6:30 there about or a little less. 45 mins wait on blood work. It was about 9:00pm and she was told blood work was normal and no ultrasound was done which was why she went there. She used the bathroom while she was there and passed another clot while there. That's all they did. To me that's not an evaluation at all and nothing done to find out the issue. Now I will need to see if I can find the lab work that was done and see what all they tested for. I never said anything about the hospital stay the first time but this time I decided to do a review and maybe that will get some attention. My daughter should not be on Xarelto at all and is having an issue from this medicine and no one wants to take the time to find out what the real problem is. No one there seems to know much about this medicine which is not good. I've even asked the ob/gyn dr there about it and she hasn't even heard of this syndrome which is odd really. It's not just a clotting factor just when a person is pregnant but no one knows about it. Oh well. I will find out about this hospital because I am on a mission now. I wish I had something good to say about them but right now I do not. read more

Just had a horrible experience at the GCH. I took my friend in for severe back pain. She has a history of disc bulging, nerve compression, spinal stenosis and severe arthritic changes all along her spine. Additionally, she has numerous other severe issues that have exacerbated in the last several months. It's all taken a huge toll on her and she is now an emotional wreck, racked with pain, and unable to get the help she needs. The doctor that treated her could not be bothered to introduce himself, so I don't know his name. He had a piss poor bedside manner and showed little to no compassion. His examination was inadequate. She ultimately received three injections for pain, muscle spams and inflammation. We were told that they could not do testing, to evaluate the severity of her problem, because all the technicians were off duty. The first nurse we encountered was adequate, but the second one was not, and she failed to return to provide additional treatment. We were told to wait and the Dr would come back in to talk to us, but he never did and they eventually just released her. I do understand that Doctors and nurses have bad days, just like the rest of us, but this service was unprofessional and nearly worthless. From the other reviews that I've read, it appears she will be receiving a huge bill for services "not rendered"! Ridiculous!! read more

Band aid Station at best. Construction every where at the front door and you can't get in the ambulance entrance, but I guess my situation wasn't a true emergency any how, even though when I called my physician over symptoms he told me go straight to ER. Got in a room fairly quickly never seen a Dr only a PA and about 3 different nurses that all ask the same thing but performed different duties. I had had an emergency MRI the day before so they read me the results which I had already been told by the Dr office over the phone before they sent me to the ER. They gave me a shot, a Percocet, and a script for muscle relaxers and said you need to get to an orthopedic surgeon in the next few days. Ok so you can't get in to an orthopedic surgeon without a Primary Dr referral, or at least that's been my previous experience. So a huge bill for what I already knew and I had better medications at home. Complete waste of time. I gave them 2 stars because everyone was nice and I got in to a room quickly. read more

As having family that are in the health field I always viewed people that talked badly about hospitals as trash. Well I guess I can now call myself trash because I will never in my life recommend someone to this hospital. I don't think I would even trust the nurses to spit on me if I was on fire. The people at registration desk don't even look to be out of high school and their professionalism speaks volumes to that. I'm not even sure if these nurses and doctors working here passed any bars or evaluations in school. Or if they did pass, they were scrapped from the bottom of the barrel. How are you going to hook someone on 100% oxygen and the oxygen tank be completely empty? Total trash doctors and nurses! This hospital couldn't even be classified as a "bandaid" hospital, maybe more among the lines of duct tape. And to be honest that's probably giving this place too much credit. Any respectable member of the health field would be a total fool to have a career here. How this place is still up and running is just totally bewildering to me. read more
