The outside of the Georgetown Country Store.

I don't know if it's a Maine thing or a country store thing, but all these mom and pop type general stores I've been to throughout the state have the same smell. I can't quite explain it, but it's comforting and consistent. So if you're in the area and need some beer or an energy drink, a granola bar, super basic provisions, first aid stuff, oil for your car, a pale blue sweatshirt that says "Georgetown", a Snickers ice cream bar, bug repellent, sun block, viewing an art gallery on a porch, or eating quintessential sub shop food (think Italians, egg salad on a bulkie roll, pizza, even fried seafood because we are on the coast after all)... you will want to stop here. The only oddity: this specific country store is deceivingly small compared to what the outside suggests. The aisles are really only big enough for one person. We actually stood boxed into a corner by the drinks for a solid fifteen minutes waiting to try and get past people. Yikes!

Good lobster rolls, better than the 5 Islands Lobster company for less money.

Food is a little pricey, but not out of line with everything else these days, and it is quite good. I got a Teriyaki Chicken on a stick with my fries the other day for lunch and it was very good. White meat chicken with a glaze of...maybe honey and teriyaki? It was good anyway. Don't look for health food, but for a Maine variety store, it is good.

It's mostly a convenience store and gas station stocked full of all kinds of junk food, pastries, milk, breads and some unique Maine types of weird things. But over on the side of the store is a small grill that manages to produce a whole range of different things. All kinds of cool breakfast stuff, some traditional like several varieties on bacon and egg and toast and other rather uncommon things like breakfast burritos and even something call breakfast pizza. They also have some absolutely gigantic freshly baked cinnamon rolls that smell fantastic and of course the ubiquitous Maine blueberry pancakes. But there is a lot more here than just breakfast. All kinds of pizzas are served throughout the day as well as various sandwiches, fried chicken, burger type things and sea bugs like shrimp, scallops and of course some great lobster rolls. In fact they even have live lobsters and crabs that they will cook for you or you can take them home and kill them yourself. Just an amazing amount of different foods prepared so many different ways. You or course can fill up with gas for your vehicle or get caught up on the latest local gossip too. Not a whole lot of stores around here so they make the best of what they have. A very cool and old fashion type of do everything store. The type that makes Maine such a cool place.

Few outdoor seats on porch with some seats that have views of the Kennebec River. You grab your own drinks inside or at the coffee station (it's Benbow's too). But they do have an iced coffee and some beer and wine from the menu. Tip inside the fridge also has a few hot sauces to try. Parking is around thd front half loop in front of the restaurant. We tried the BLT and added chicken salad and the Grilled Corned Beef reuben and split. You get a bag of chips and pickles. We also got a side of the large pasta salad. It was mayo based but not heavy. It had olives which I dont really like but I could pick them out, didn't taste olivey. Inside is a bakery case. They had a few sconces including a blackberry one that looked so juicy (as opposed to dry that sconces are known to be).

We also had two ice coffees , my sister had regular and I had Jamaican me Crazy . Mine was distinctively different and better! Highly recommend all, if available. We saw other regular menu items come out and they looked great. Service was excellent. It's a small place and can sometimes be busy, yet well worth the visit. Many people came in for pick orders, so that's an option too!
