Once again, yelp directs me to an amazing restaurant! We are staying close by at a campground and I found this place on you and we stopped in for a truly amazing lunch. I highly recommend the seafood chowder get the bowl. It is fantastic and plenty for a lunch and comes with a choice of a biscuit or a scone. My husband picked for me and ate my scone, which was a bacon cheddar scone, which was to die for. My husband had the steak shaved sub and he loved it. He also had coleslaw as did I as sides for our lunch. They have a beer of wine selection too. We visited Winnegance Restaurant and Bakery this morning for breakfast. The location is just a couple of miles down from downtown Bath. The decor and vibe is all very down east Maine with a couple of dear heads mounted on the walls for an extra woodsy touch. The menu is fantastic and offers many options along with several specials. We tried the Mainers Breakfast and the Meat Lovers Scramble. Both were very delicious. The portions were generous too. The staff was courteous and friendly, and many of the other customers seemed to be regulars. There was also a bakery case of both sweet and savory items that I can't wait to try. If that wasn't enough, they also had a case of scallops, oysters, and clams. My only challenge with this place is the parking that is limited and awkward. I highly recommend this spot and will definitely be making a return visit. read more

If you pass by this tiny restaurant...STOP!! That's how we discovered it, driving back home from a visit to Popham Beach. We were intending to eat in downtown Bath, but saw Winnegance Restaurant & Bakery--and took a chance. All I can say is, WOW. It's housed in an old general store. Not many tables inside (about 7 or 8?), but it makes for a very cozy atmosphere. And it's a good thing, because it takes a bit longer to get your food, as everything is made from scratch. Well worth the wait. My honey had the clam chowder, which I tasted--and we both agreed it was the best we've had in Maine. The chowder was light, perfectly seasoned and full of clams. It was also served piping hot--as soup/chowder should be. Along with the chowder, he had the lobster grilled cheese, and raved about it. He is reluctant to order grilled cheese, as it's never prepared properly, or as good as he can make himself. Well, he found the perfect one. The sandwich was fabulous--with homemade bread, and packed with lobster meat. I opted for a 1/2 dozen Winter Point oysters--slightly salty, sweet and so tasty! In addition, I ordered the summer salad--weird, I know, at this time of year. But I was craving one, and this didn't disappoint. It was large, and I finished every bit. As for the service? It was attentive, without being pushy or intrusive. Before we left, we grabbed some homemade biscuits and a chocolate chip cookie to go. It was a hard choice, as there were a lot more bakery yummies beckoning us. But this is one place that we will go back to--which we can't say for many other dining establishments we've experienced! read more

Over the course of our week+ vacation, this is by far the best breakfast we had anywhere, hands-down. We were deliberately trying to eat at as many different places as we could as part of our vacation experience. The staff was wonderfully friendly and laid-back. The food was Excellent! Went to Winnegabve for lunch. I had the soup and grilled cheese. My husband had the chicken salad. Our meal was wonderful and the staff were super friendly. Amazing breakfast! We always come to Popham Beach and have never tried this place due to the amount of cars out front it's always so busy so we tried a Friday morning at 10:00 and it was just perfect. Waitress was so kind, helpful, and truly on top of her game, running food, taking all the tables and ringing people out. All of our meals were amazing and were well priced. We all went home full and happy. I love checking Facebook to see the specials of the day and I was excited to try something new like the Thai Shrimp Scramble it was really amazing. We stopped here after a beach trip and some poor food planning thinking we could just pick up some snacks and waters to hold us over until dinner. We had no idea it was a full service restaurant and we ended up having the most amazing lunch. Lobster grilled cheese, Reuben, & chowder. The staff was super friendly and it was clean and Covid safe. In fact, it was so good we drove an hour north on the way home to try breakfast and it did not disappoint. I had the Winnnegance special and it was an amazing Egg Benedict with lobster, fresh spinach and home fries. It was worth the trip back. My husband and I kept driving past and thinking we need to check this place out! I am so glad we did because it was delicious, cute as heck inside, and the prices were actually more reasonable that most places we have been. I will say we stopped for breakfast though and can't speak on their lunch menu. We brought in our extended family, so we're a large table of 7 and they managed us just fine, food still came quickly. My husband and I split the breakfast sandwich and the dressed up French toast and both were fantastic! We were too big of a group to seat outside but the view there is also really nice! Only tip is be prepared with parking, it's kind of limited. That said our two cars got parked easily! read more

Best omelets around! This quaint country kitchen puts out some incredible dishes. Up the steps and into what used to be an old general store, Winnegance Restaurant and Bakery had me coming back three times that week. The portions are great and always made to please. Simply the best food in the area, especially for seafood, their working focus, which includes Schutty's food truck a few miles towards Brunswick during summer. They have special dinner nights off season like prime rib night and, most notable, "date night" which is two of any entrees and a bottle of wine for $60. Always nice baked goods and beer. Yes it's rustic but that is part of the charm, along with the friendly service which can be a bit slow if busy...but worth the wait! read more

Excellent fresh food. Small and a bit stuffy on the inside (hot) but they had a few tables out on the front deck. I could sweat easily however for the food. The wife had a BLT on fresh baked bread. It's her go to and she said this tops the list. I had a special which was a lobster roll. It was one of the better rolls I've had in Maine and I've ate at some of the trendier and touristy spots. It's a small place, w 5 or 6 tables and a few more outside, and I went for lunch at about 1pm on Wednesday, not exactly prime time. I ordered a cup of shrimp stew and fish tacos. 45 minutes later, they showed up at my table (the stew apparently could not come out beforehand?). To be fair, the stew was terrific, I wish I had ordered a bowl of it! The tacos were bad. The fish was lightly sautéed on the outside and cold on the inside. I had 2 bites and left. Come here for the stew, but for God's sake don't come for fast service, this place ain't got any. read more

Formerly a general store and now a restaurant, it has a front porch with several tables which is where we sat taking in the beautiful water views. We used to stop here, years ago, to get sandwiches to take to Popham Beach. The store closed. The building looked like it might fall down. Years went by. The building has been restored, and the store has re-opened with new owners, the same people that own and operate Schutty's. The seafood chowder that Schutty's has won contests with is on the menu at Winnegance. It is unlikely that you'll find better anywhere. We had that today. It was excellent as always. The Winnegance menu is quite similar to Schutty's, minus the fried food. They have added baked goods and specials such as lobster quiche. I wanted to try the peanut butter cookie or the blueberry scone both of which looked really good but will wait for the next visit. The "store" part has much of what you'd expect: beer, wine, cat litter, toothpaste, canned soup, and so on. I didn't see any fishing tackle or bait offered for sale, but it was only their second day of operation. Maybe next summer? read more

My sister, son, and I had breakfast here after staying overnight nearby. It was a little warm inside so we decided to eat out on the porch. It was a beautiful morning to eat outside. My sister had the corned beef hash omelette, she said it was the best omelette she's ever had. I had the meat lover's omelette and added spinach and mushrooms. The sausage in the omelette is homemade and delicious. I shared a piece of my omelette with my son and he loved it too. He had scrambled eggs, bacon, homefries and white toast. He enjoyed it, ate every last bit. Their homefries are seasoned well and the white toast was so good. My sister liked her English Muffin but said she wish she had gotten the toast too. They serve decent coffee, it's help yourself style but I didn't mind that. We met the owner, Holly, she's a doll. She has an amazing personality, she does an awesome job running this a little gem of a place. We took home some homemade scones and a muffin. Definitely go in and check out the case of baked goods.
