They get 2 stars for making an effort hiring those in our community with special needs which is nice but how about training the staff to be nice. My girl asked for a different dressing for her salad, attitude. Don't care that's there's an extra charge. That's not a problem. Attitude is. Asked for grilled cheese. Can you add turkey? Attitude, yeah for extra charge. I wasnt looking for free. Its the way she talked to us and the attitude. Huh So this grilled cheese with the cheapest 1 slice of turkey wasnt good. Tasted like what I get at Walmart. I did my best with it but couldn't eat more than half. No mayo or anything. Im sure that's extra charge. My girl asked if they could warm her coffee because what she got from their carafe wasn't hot. Nope. Didn't ask for a new cup or anything just no. How was everything? I just looked at her. My friend indicated cold coffee. Crickets. I appreciate what they do for the community but I can donate another way. Wont get anymore of my cash for a sandwich I can make better at home and I cant cook.I took my $2 water in a box n they gave me a bag, not a box for my half of sandwich.I just thru it away. Went next door to village idiot next door for pizza. Im good on this spot read more

If you're looking for an amazing coffee shop that gives back to the community and its people this is the spot for you. Their menu is full of fantastic flavors and their business model is top notch. Their story is amazing and their hearts are full. They help support employment to people with disabilities and give back to the community. I can't talk more highly of this spot! Super friendly coffee shop right on Conant with ample parking in the back, Georgette's is an asset to Maumee. It is named for Georgette Engler, who with her husband Roy, founded Sunshine Children's Home in the 50s to help other families care for their children with disabilities and to help "bring a little bit of sunshine" into the lives of these children through loving care in a clean, home-like setting. The coffeehouse offers supported employment to workers with developmental disabilities in its kitchen, café and coffee-packaging areas right down the road. I am definitely coming back. I can't judge the coffee bc I came for lunch and already had my cup of coffee. Five star alone for just the service. I feel bad I didn't get the name of the woman that took our order but she was so nice. She gave us a recommendation and then checked on what we thought after. We got the Monterey Melt and the Turkey avocado. Both perfectly melted and delicious. Hit the spot. It was busy but there were lots of tables. We got a seat along the window. read more

I absolutely loved how friendly the lady at the front was. The coffee was good and loved the cookie. Lots of tables to sit at. It's downtown so parking can be tricky if it's busy downtown. Everyone should stop by and say hi. Grab some food and coffee. read more

Georgette's supports people with disabilities, and thus I support them! Check out their website and see what they have done to stop the institutionalization of people with disabilities, the creation of Sunshine, and how people of all abilities work at their shop. I had a turkey panini and it was good! The person working at the counter was nice but didn't have all the answers or communicate the full ingredients. But since I know folks of all backgrounds work there and it helps to employ people with disabilities, I'm not mad about it. I'd suggest that management have a full menu for the sandwich ingredient list posted or available at the counter to help first-time customers make decisions. read more

First time here and would come back again. I ordered the Greek salad with chicken but got the Sun-dried tomato salad dressing instead based on another yelp review. Darn that was really good salad dressing. I was told they make it in-house. My husband ordered a grilled cheese sandwich of some sort. I don't really recall what it was. He said it was good but it was a little small for the price paid. Note he is a bigger man so small sandwich just does him no good. We ordered desserts too. I got a giant pistachio muffin. It was very good. Maybe I should say it is very good because it's gonna take me a few meals to eat that all as a dessert. My husband ordered a brownie and he said it was OK. It wasn't super sweet. They also talked up there carrot cake about being award-winning so he bought a piece but has not had it yet. He'll have it after our dinner tonight. I would definitely come back and try some other things on the menu. read more

Very cute! Great staff! Friendly atmosphere! Had a turkey tomato panini and on cranberry walnut bread! It was fantastic! Had a latte and it was larger than I expected also very good! I liked that you ordered and they called you by name! It makes for a very personal environment. Definitely going to be a more regular stop for me! Decided on meeting my long time friend here for coffee. She wanted to shop a little on the free trade side of the store first. This is a super cute coffee shop that, while not large, is a nice place to hang out and have a cup of joe. I had a medium mocha and found it to be a nice tasty am wake-me-up. I stopped in today at Georgette's for the first time. I was greeted by Patty, who was very friendly and extremely helpful. She helped me select a sandwich to try and one of their delicious coffee creations. I tried one of the Italian Paninis on their white sourdough bread, it was fantastic. For my beverage I ordered a Caramel Frappuccino, and that didn't disappoint either. It really hit the spot on a hot day. They also have a great little gift shop attached on the back of the restaurant. They are both very much focused on helping charities, which is just amazing to see. I would definitely recommend checking them out if you are ever in the area. read more

Came in for the first time and the employee working was really energetic and good to talk to. I'm not much into coffee and she helped me discover something that I would enjoy. The owner was here too and she even gave me some tips and tricks while I figure out this whole coffee thing. Prices weren't expensive. Ordered a breakfast burrito and I'm very picky and she came out just to make sure she was making it to my liking. I haven't even tried the food yet but I'm giving this place a good review based off the coffee (a cold brew with a delicious foam on top) and just the atmosphere and customer service. I'm still basic when it comes to coffee and never really went outside the box as far as frapps from Starbucks but I think I will visit this place more often and start trying new things. The owner was here too and she even gave me some tips and tricks while I figure out this whole coffee thing. I'm sure I'll be a frequent visitor! read more

Coffee here is great! It's a pretty busy place so it will be hard to get any studying done here, but they do offer unlimited refills of a good variety that changes from time to time. I mostly just come in to buy coffee beans, which are great (they are also fair-trade!... not sure what that means... but i'm sure it's a good thing! $10 for 12 ounces and coming from many different regions). All the workers are really nice and I'm pretty sure this is the only place in the area that serves gelato (not counting sit-down restaurants... even then still not sure which of those serve gelato). Breakfast and sandwiches here are pretty good too. read more

This place is so tasty and cute. The sandwiches my boyfriend and I got were amazing. I had a bacon, cheese, apple and Dijon mustard panini. It wasn't overwhelmingly huge, and it had tons of flavor. Their cold brew coffee is great and will wake you up. I haven't had a chance to try their baked goods, but they looked amazing and I will be back for a pumpkin doughnut. The staff was incredibly nice, and when I asked about the infamous cinnamon rolls they said they don't keep them regularly when making donuts but they said if I just called ahead the day before or the morning before they would make me one! How awesome is that?! Will be going back at least once a week. read more

If you love coffee this is the place for you. The coffee is fresh fair trade, the food is fresh and made from scratch from locally grown organic produce. Every weekend my husband and I stop in to enjoy breakfast there. Sales from this place benefit a local non for profit, which provides employment and enrichment for the mentally disabled. Often you will find disabled people working here, providing them with a meaningful employment opportunity. read more

Just returned from Georgettes for their 8th anniversary meal. For $8.88 we had salad, pasta in a tomato vodka sauce with chicken and the most delicious carrot cake I ever had for dessert. If their were 10 stars, Georgettes deserves the award. Besides the food being delicious, the staff were most delightful. We had the pleasure of meeting Diane, who we understand, runs the kitchen. She is a lovely lady with a love for her work. We plan on returning to this gem, on a regular basis. read more

my mother took me here for lunch when i was visiting, knowing this is the "kind of place i like." she was right. this is a charming little cafe with delicious sandwiches, great coffee, gelato, and a comforting atmosphere. the friendly servers brought our lunch to the table. even though the front seating area was packed, they set up a table just for us in the gift shop. the gift shop features beautiful decorative nick nacks, jewelry, scarves, sweaters, and other items from ten thousand villages, which is a very admirable company. they're also run by the sunshine inc (as the reviewer below me noted,) so you can feel good supporting this business on every level. read more

In the sweet little strip of Conant Street just before you hit the bridge to Perrysburg, you'll find the black awning of Georgette's Grounds and Gifts. It is run by Sunshine Inc of Northwest Ohio, a non-profit agency providing residential and related services to people with developmental disabilities in the area. The coffee is good, but they mess up my order more often than getting it right. Two of the three times I ordered quiche they gave me the wrong one (it's microwaved). I ordered the grilled cheese with added tomatoes. No tomatoes. They could do so much better, but the standards seem low. read more

Stopped in for a coffee at Georgette's. The coffee shop itself has a nice feel to it, lots of seating and really nice, helpful baristas. The coffee was definitely above average. It was self-serve, with a few different options. The cream/dairy is hidden away, but available upon request. I had a great experience here and will definitely be back. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area; well worth it. read more

Pretty disappointed in the coffee. Not much flavor in my frozen mocha. They always appear busy and the selection of ice cream and the overall appearance of the place is good but it's not somewhere I'll probably visit again anytime soon. Great to see a local business doing well, though! read more

That said, I had coffee at one place, ate a meat loaf lunch at another, pawed the car windows and did some test sitting at a few dealerships, drove around the University of Toledo campus (which I didn't know is a very good school for STEM disciplines), and put the cherry on top of these few hours by visiting the Toledo Botanical Garden. I walked the garden and took photos. It was warm and humid, so I didn't really relax and sit a spell. Like many public gardens, the Toledo Botanical Garden, out toward the western end of the city, mixes up formal garden spaces with European cues and more organic spaces, meaning they are natural in affect and display very little rigid planning. I was fairly amazed how, as you moved along, these different vistas came into view. Everything was cohesively put together and you could enjoy the different environments they've curated for you. The Toledo Botanical Garden is part of the city metro park system, which I learned from other reviews. Thus, being under this umbrella might mean that the park is free of charge ... and it is! For this aspect and for delivering more than I had expected, having pulled it from a "top things to do" list, I believe the Toledo Botanical Garden handily earns 5 stars.

From the outside it appears to be just a quaint little cottage with a water fountain out front. But inside it's packed full of beautiful jewelry, accessories, little nicknacks you never thought you needed, and the most scentfully wonderful candles. The candle that looked like a whole blueberry pie was a personal favorite that would make a great addition to anyone's home! The fall smell of cinnamon sticks, apples, and fresh baked goods that radiates from the candles just about smacks you in the face the second you walk in the door. That alone, to me anyway, is well worth the trip across the parking lot from MacQueen's. The only issue is, everything is a bit pricey. If that headband wasn't $12, it would have been mine! But they do accept both cash and card, so if you're feeling a little spendy and you're able to swing by, pick up a blueberry pie candle for me too!
