For those of you who are looking for a professional to help guide you through your worst days stay…read moreclear of Brett Ekes and his law firm. I was a former client and fired him part of the way through because he is difficult to get a hold off, he was unprepared to represent me in court, he tried to not present evidence or give the commissioner reasonable doubt and I had to force him to present it. Another attorney I hired admitted that he should have done more for me in that court. Brett never tried to prepare me for court or even told me what to expect. When he would attempt to perform his rebuttal it court he took a weak stance and gave very little detail if any which resulted in my children being taken from me. I had no idea where I was supposed to be for court, when I would call his office, non of his staff knew where he was nor could they get in touch with him. When he would get back into his office he would never call back. I always had to track him down to get in touch with him. His paralegals couldn't answer any questions that I would have and there is no other family lawyer at this firm to try and help out with any questions. He would send me encrypted emails of which I told him multiple times I didn't know the password so 2 days before court he gave up trying to send me the document that was required for that court date. I wouldn't recommend Brett or his firm to anyone. Run the other way or you will regret it.

THESE ATTORNEYS ARE UNETHICAL!…read more About a year ago, I loaned a friend $4K to pay this law firm to retain their services after he was arrested on a drug charge. I had to use my debit card to pay the lawyer and was not given any information from the lawyer about what I was actually paying for. My "friend" never paid me back and skipped bail and is now wanted and on the run in another state. In the time since I paid his lawyer he stole from me and caused a lot of other problems for me and I don't want to have any connection to him anymore. I contacted the lawyer and stated the issue clearly and asked if it would be possible to refund the amount I paid. I asked him if he could charge his client (my former "friend") for the retainer, rather than use my funds. The lawyer denied my request, stating that I had paid to retain his services for his client and couldn't request a refund until the case was complete. However, despite claiming that I had paid to retain his services, I was given no paperwork to show what I had paid and I doubt I even have any legal claim to those funds if the case is ever "completed". Is it ethical for a lawyer to keep third party funds as a retainer when I have no desire to fund their clients legal defense in any way? I feel it is completely unethical to make someone pay for the defense of their client who stole from me. What I'm worried about is that if the client dismisses the lawyer that the funds I provided will just be returned to them and not me. I am very low income and this represented a majority of my savings. I am hoping that this law firm will do the right thing and return the money I paid and let their client pay for his own defense!
