BLUF: After nearly four years of representing myself, I had developed a good sense of what…read moreeffective advocacy looks (and doesn't look) like. Attorney Leaf exceeded my expectations. Once I retained her, I felt like the cavalry had arrived. She reduced my financial exposure from thousands of dollars to hundreds, and the difference in preparation and advocacy between Attorney Leaf and opposing counsel was immediately apparent. I imagine there's a time when a young person dreams of becoming an attorney, then spends years learning what excellence in the profession looks like. Then comes the day that person realizes they have become that attorney--and demonstrates it every day. In my view, Kristin Leaf is one of those attorneys. Words I would use to describe her are: mindful; considerate; empathetic; strategic; capable; understanding; and formidable. By simply doing her job well, Attorney Leaf distinguished herself immediately. The difference in preparation, responsiveness, and resourcefulness in court was obvious. Although Attorney Leaf treated the "other side" with courtesy and respect, and always conducted herself in a dignified manner, the difference in caliber between Attorney Leaf and opposing counsel was unmistakable. She takes the time to understand not just your legal position, but what you're actually trying to accomplish. She doesn't make you feel like a "case," like billable time, or like she's got more important things to be doing. She treats you like a human. She's also mindful that her time is your money and makes every interaction count. I personally observed that Attorney Leaf stepped in and pinch-hit for my other GRGB attorney. She's got people's backs. I had been pro se for almost four years, with the exception of two short appearances by attorneys that made my situation worse. I have no doubt that if I had been represented by Attorney Kristin Leaf from the beginning, I would be in a much stronger position in family court today. Most people "don't have the money" to spend on a lawyer, me included, but if it comes to spending money you don't have, better to spend it on someone who will work hard to get the outcomes you need-and who has a responsive, supportive, hard-working team-than on a budget attorney who doesn't truly listen or prioritize you. That's the one thing I appreciated most about Attorney Leaf. She listens--even when she probably already knows the answer. Even when your thinking is off track. Even when you're discussing something the court can't fix. She listens first, then works with you to identify the path forward. Attorney Leaf has clearly invested in becoming an exceptional attorney, and it shows in every interaction. GRGB is lucky to have her. Retain her before the other side does! I am also represented by another GRGB attorney in a criminal matter. As that case progresses, I expect to update this review to reflect that experience as well. That said, if you need representation on multiple legal fronts, that's yet another advantage of retaining this firm.

Terrible experience folks. I hired a divorce attorney from this law firm with the high hopes that…read morehe would be good. Unfortunately, he ended up being anything but. He was absolutely awful - honestly the worst attorney I've ever encountered. Among many other things, he would not respond in a timely manner (I would wait for days, sometimes weeks) and then he kept me in the dark on almost everything. He was full of empty promises and misinformation and didn't seem to know family law like he should. He was very disrespectful toward me as a client too, so I would avoid this law firm if I were you.

STAY AWAY!!!! Choose this firm & Joseph Goode, if you want the following:…read more 1) To get billed by him to "look into billing disputes/errors". 2) To be billed just to get a quote from them for services! 3) To be billed, in my opinion, outrageous fees for doing very little. I have hired plenty of attorneys in my life and I feel Joseph Goode is the WORST attorney I have ever used! He really should change his name to Joseph BAD. My father and his partner, hired his firm for a simple litigation...I was the main point of contact dealing with him and his firm's lawyers. I think a good lawyer would give us a quote ahead of time (for a full litigation and trial) by looking at the potential claim amount versus the legal costs. Sadly, he didn't do that. I realized as we went forward that they had no real strategy! In fact, he never asked even once about collecting on any potential judgment. Every litigator should ask their clients that even if you get a judgment, collecting on it may be an issue and it should be something they talk to you about to see if you want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees to get a judgment you may never even collect. This was never done! We asked him for a quote to research, file and serve a lawsuit and the difference between what we were billed and what we felt we were quoted for the cost, was almost double. I felt a 5 digit figure just to file a lawsuit was crazy and in fact, we were charged almost double that. When we complained to him, he charged almost $1k just to look into the billing matter! We then told him to control costs because his billings were getting out of hand. As a result, we asked for quotes on all future work and you know what he started doing...he billed us another $1,500 dollars just to give us a written quote for $300,000 for a full trial! How insane is that? And, who charges for quotes? On top of that, he demanded that to continue working for us after we disputed his billings, he would require us to change from billing us monthly to demanding a $25k retainer which he would bill against! We were billed hundreds of dollars just to email us that the defendants got served. I feel this firm is just out to take as much money from you as possible. Errors I believe were made by this law firm: 1) Wrong lawsuit filing deadline. There was conflicting information giving by him and his firm on the filing time for the lawsuit. In the lawsuit they stated "20 days" but opposing counsel pointed out it is "45 days". And for the communication we had due to their "error"... he billed us. 2) No Due Diligence. We were suing people who didn't trust. We met at an opposing counsel's office to go through all questionable invoices and bank statements. When we set aside the documents to get copied, we agreed to get a third party to come and copy the records. Instead Joe Goode authorized the same party we are suing to make copies of the questionable records! Does that make any sense?? So foolish and when I called him out on it, he told me I was wrong. That is his behavior...to blame you for his mistakes! 3) Scrivener's Error? He did a prior agreement for us and in one of the most important sections of the contract, he put the wrong parties name! When I called him out on that...he explained that away as a Scrivener's Error! 4) Not including a Breach of Specific Contract Claim in the lawsuit, which is one of our strongest claims. Also, one of our strongest claims against the opposing party, we told him to include in the lawsuit but he never did! And his partner, Mark Leitner is who wrote to me to settle the financial matter, refused to admit any wrongdoing and refused to discuss the "errors" I pointed out. Trust me, you will want to avoid these clowns and this whole law firm altogether. Virtually every other attorney I interviewed when finding a new law firm, never even heard of this firm or the lawyers. If you can tell, I was trying to be civil but I feel he has a real offensive and truly abrasive personality. If you can be mean and fight with your own client who is paying you, how bad do you think his judgment is? Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!

You will be charged an insane amount for virtually nothing, while they discuss their fun weekend…read moreplans with the opposing party attorney. You will get ZERO actual legal advice no matter how many times you ask. They ask YOU what to do, all the while charging 3-4xs more than any other attorney. You will be out thousands and thousands of dollars while they smile and tell you to concede everything to the opposition. Contact me if you want my full experience. I had attornies M.W. and J. H. at this firm.

We reached out to them only to be told, sorry you signed the settlement agreement. We were naive to trust that they were looking out for us, we never received a bill prior as this was part of the settlement, the firm even said they called them. We know its our fault for signing without it being on there but never did we think that our lawyer would let that slide and accept the settlement without all medical bills they were aware of being included. We were a pain to them and i kind of think they just wanted to be done with us. They said they never received a release for them to get the bill, they acknowledged they knew about the medical bill and still settled the claim knowing it was outstanding. Now we have to pay it out of pocket. In my opinion, there are much better Workers Compensation firms out there. They made sure to take their percentage of the settlement. They also had one of their criminal defense attorneys handling our workers compensation claim, look on their website, no where does it say Thomas Simon specializes in workers compensation, we reached out to Richard Cayo asking for a different attorney to which he said Attorney Simon was competent,... competent enough that he settled knowing there were outstanding medical bills....
