Please avoid this law firm! I was referred here and the service was terrible I have to constantly contact them because the attorney Ben has either too much on his plate or he not organize. They overcharge you. The experience with this firm was not good at all. I truly believe they make up fees because during a call the attorney stepped away for over hours to attend to another case and I am convinced that it was intentional so that he could bill me for the so called time spent emailing for negotiations on my behalf. CHECK AROUND BEFORE SETTLING HERE!!! I visited Cross Law Office for a consultation on an employment matter. First I called and the office assistant asked me the details of my case. I explained that I wanted to sue my former employer as they were processing claims inappropriately and I wanted to sue for my position back since the company had fired my former manager for this and several other issues. Attorney Nola called me back and stated that she thought I had a good claim and to come into the office for a consultation. Also, the initial visit was $395.00. Yikes! But I paid the fee as she said I had a good claim. However, when I arrived at the office and spoke with her in person she asked me several questions which all were the same but stated a different way. She asked, if I had any proof or did my manager every say to deliberately deny claims to save the company money therefore leading to profits. I answered "No" several times however she kept asking the same question over to see if I would change my answer. At the end of the meeting she sent in a paralegal and the office assistant to have me sign the retainer agreement, They also explained that I would be responsible for the initial $2500.00 of her attorney fees and that if a settlement came from the case she would take a 47% cut!!! I told both assistants I would like to review the contract further and speak to some former employees to see if they had any information that would help my case. The paralegal insisted that I sign today!!! I said to them both that I will not and will return it if I needed their services. I think this office is a rip-off. Attorney Nola could have told me on the phone that I needed substantial proof or statements of intent from my former manager in print. I then could have made an informed decision that the consultation was not necessary due to the lack of evidence I had, which is needed to prove this type of claim in court. Instead, she had me come in and pay my money while attempting to sway my answers by asking leading questions. I think this is dishonest and unethical. And a $400 fee, outrageous. Skip this office. The inside looks terrible too. It's old, outdated and stale looking. Not professional at all. I wish someone had reviewed them on Yelp before I wasted my cash!!!! read more

They will say just about anything to get fees out of you and give you false hope of representing you in a suit and then bail for no good reason once they get as many fees as they can without actually filing suit. TERRIBLE REPRESENTATION!! I had to choose one star for it to allow me to post a review, otherwise I wouldn't even have given them one star! I researched law firms extensively and chose Cross law firm for their "professed" success rate with disability discrimination cases. I had what every attorney/law firm since then that has looked at my initial complaint, was an "open & shut", "black & white", "iron clad" case. My "T"s we're crossed and my "I"s were dotted. All I was asking for was 7 1/2 sick days to be reinstated and any legal fees aquired as a result of resolving my case. Cross Law firm's representation drug out the 1st mediation process/discussion for over a year, going back and forth with my employer's attorney, racking up $7,000 in legal fees and causing communication with my employer to be only through attorneys, resulting in me having to file a second complaint for their failure to accommodate additional medical issues that increased in severity throughout the mediation! I REPEATEDLY told The Cross Law firm attorney throughout the year that I was unable to pay for legal services, she continually replied by saying, "we will work something out", I consistently responding to that statement saying, I couldn't even afford small payments. She consistently replied again with, "we will work something out"!!!!!!! After a second attempt at mediation with zero success, and racking up another $10,000 in legal fees trying to settle my second complaint via correspondence with my employer's attorney, I terminated my use of Cross Law firm's representation/legal services. At the 2nd mediation, one of the last statements the Cross Law Firm attorney said to me was reassuring me "we would work something out with regard to their fees. I received a call from their "receptionist/financial department" the next day asking me to contact her. I returned her call and left a voicemail message that same evening. I left another message three evenings later. She did not call me back. INSTEAD, two weeks later I received a letter from a collection agency adding on another few thousand in processing fees! They ended up taking me to court and I had to set up monthly payments that have put another financial! This put yet another financial strain on me and my family, in addition to the loss in wages, due to still not being accommodated at work! It's been two years since I terminated Cross Law firm's services. They never Once attempted to contact me to work anything out! I had to finish going through the first complaint unrepresented throughout the ERDC's investigation, which was a nightmare with regard to being time consuming and stressful. I was able to get my employer to settle for the 7 1/2 sick leave days being reinstated and $7,000 paid toward the legal fees! Something Cross Law Firm, "so called professionals couldn't manage to do!! I had to go through the 2nd complaint's investigation unrepresented also and had a very difficult time knowing how to respond and get my point across. My hearing is set for September 7th and now I can't find an attorney to take my case on contingency because of the large amount of legal fees attached to the second complaint that has to go to Cross Law Firm off the top!!! Although my primary attorney from Cross Law firm was no longer employed there shortly after I received the collection notice, she consulted with multiple other, "more senior" attorneys at their law firm throughout the the time they represented me, so this is not just a secluded case of a "bad" attorney!! Cross Law firm has caused me and my family more stress and hardship than I could have EVER imagined!! As absolutely sad and terrible as this is to say, the truth is, if I knew then what they were going to put me through I would have chosen the disability discrimination over the end result!! One of the worst experiences I have had. I asked that my bill be kept to a minimum and gave the dollar amount. The lawyer charged me three the cost of my request for my services. After all the lawyer did for me, one extra months pay, her legal cost absorbed all extra pay. I would have been better off not retaining her.
