No one wants to have a root canal. But when that tooth pain just won't go away Dr. Bills is just the person you want to see. I had been a patient of hers several years ago and this is why I came back. I called on a Tuesday morning because my tooth pain was getting worse and worse. My regular dentist (who I should but won't name) kinda shrugged if off. He sent me on my way with a tube of Sensodyne. I was in luck that there was a cancellation and I went to Dr Bills office right away. It's a super convenient Cary location. All of her staff is super warm and caring. She even has a therapy dog on staff !!! She numbed me up really well and the procedure was painless. She and her assistant chat the entire time so that really keeps your mind off of what is going on in your mouth. I would so HIGHLY recommend Dr Bills and her staff. I have spent the past month of my life in hell. It all started with a filling 2 months ago. That filling caused me such extreme cold sensitivity that it made me tear up drinking iced tea. Ice cream? Forget about it. The dentist said it was normal, it would go away. Fine, I would wait. Then I was waking up in the middle of the night with the worst pain I have ever experienced in that side of my face. Both the top and the bottom of my mouth. Dentist said I was grinding my teeth. Gave me a night guard. Night guard didn't work, dentist said I probably had a sinus infection because looking at the x-rays, my teeth were perfectly healthy. (I'm glad they looked healthy, they felt like they were about to explode but thanks for that.) I went to the doctor. Not a sinus infection. Dentist referred me to a TMJ specialist. Instead I looked on the internet and found Dr. Bills. Dr. Bills and her staff started off on the right foot by TALKING to me. Asking what was going on, explaining things that the dentist didn't bother explaining to me. Then she tapped on my teeth and sprayed water on them. The whole problem with my mouth? One tooth. The tooth that was filled 2 months prior. It would need a root canal. They didn't have any openings for 2 weeks, but since I was in pain for over a month, they made one. I don't like dentists. I especially don't like the idea of a root canal. I had never had one, I was scared to death. I told Dr. Bills that I would prefer to be put under. She disagreed, telling me it wasn't as bad as I thought and that it would cost extra and instead she could give me Valium for free (even though she thought I didn't even need that.) So I reluctantly agreed. She's the expert, right? So my parents took me in that day since I couldn't drive myself on the Valium. I was relaxed. High as a kite, really. I am not kidding ONE BIT when I say that I have had TEETH CLEANING that were more painful than Dr. Bills' ROOT CANAL. Just the tiniest prick from the needle (and really, it was the least painful needle prick I've ever felt) was the only thing I ever felt. I think I might have ever gone to sleep during part of the procedure. And thanks to the valium, I slept for 4 hours, woke up with the numbing effect worn off. The procedure was at 6:45 am, and I have not had any pain killers since. Around lunch time I ate ice cream. I nearly cried. Not in pain, though. Quite the opposite. I have had an ongoing issue with a filling I had done at another office. They drilled so deep into the tooth that they hit the pulp and the pain lasted for months after. I was so nervous to go back to that same dentist because I felt they didn't show proper care when doing my filling. When I mentioned the discomfort they didn't act, they just said the tooth might have a crack and left me to worry. I finally became desperate because I knew something had to be done, and the pain was still ongoing. Fortunately I was able to to find this office as a word of mouth referral. They got me in right away and Dr. Jeri made time that same visit to give me a root canal once she saw the state of my tooth. I was nervous as I had never had a root canal procedure done, and I thought it sounded painful. I was wrong. She was very experienced and skillful and getting the area completely numb. Everyone in the office was extremely professional and caring, and I am so grateful to finally not be in pain after months of pain and worry. They also gave a referral to a new dentist office, as the place I was going was not good. read more

I was referred to Dr. Bills to solve an issue with a root canal from years ago that was done by a general dentist. She was very professional and thoroughly explained her hypothesis and treatment plan. She successfully identified the problem that was overlooked by the previous dentist and worked through a re-treatment. While these procedures are never comfortable, Dr. Bills and the assistant Cathy made the time go by quickly with their entertaining conversation (we got on the topic of sewing, which was a great hit with the room.) It's the little things that make a difference to me: I was given a blanket to stay warm, and a follow up call the next day to see how I was feeling. Dr. Bills and her assistant worked on an old root canal for over 2 hours and I had no pain or discomfort. They were gracious and made me feel so comfortable as well as doing a super job, I came in pain, and left feeling great. I highly recommend this practice. read more

I suffer from MAJOR anxiety when it comes to dental work--sadly due to dental trauma in my childhood. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with a certain molar that has needed a root canal for over ten years now and once the pain became too much and I finally caved and had no choice but to do something about it- -there was Dr. Bills and her genuinely kind and friendly staff. I've been to a few different offices and let me be the first to tell you...coming from someone who would rather suffer with the pain than get any work done...the women here are AMAZING. I'm 8 months pregnant and the moment I entered the office Liz was so accommodating and lovely. The funny, sweet Kaylee, who assisted Dr. Bills, constantly reassured me as well as made sure I was comfortable and not in need of using the rest room often. She was relatable and helped ease my anxiety before we even began. Dr. Bills is just as real as they get. She came right in and made me feel completely at home. She explained everything as we went along and was very careful to make sure I felt no discomfort. I was shocked that while I was there in the chair getting my tooth worked on I was so at ease. There were many laughs and a lot of giggling on my part. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Dr. Bills and Kaylee. I also suffer from a severe Latex allergy and these women went above and beyond to make sure I was in the know of everything that was done to ensure my safety. It is the FIRST time I didn't have a single issue and surprisingly left with a huge smile on my face. This office is the BEST and I couldn't be any happier with my experience. The only downside is the fact that I can't go to her for general work. Do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Bills, you will be happy you did!!! read more

Today Dr Bills performed a root canal on a tooth that I've been having a lot of pain with. She was fabulous and her staff was wonderful. I usually hate going to the dentist but this was as good an experience as I have ever had. They made sure that I had no pain which I didn't think would be possible. You could tell that Dr Bills really knew her stuff! She is relaxed but totally confident and she makes you feel that confidence. I loved her! I had my 3rd root canal with Dr. Bills, and she is the best! I had been to another endodontist last week at the advice of my dentist, but had to reschedule because I had a bad cold (Cary Endodontics - I don't recommend them). I shouldn't even have gone as I couldn't breathe through my nose, which you need to be able to do with all that stuff in your mouth during the procedure. But instead of going back there, I decided to stick with Dr. Bills since I'd had a great experience with her in the past. Her staff is wonderful as is she. She did a thorough evaluation and gave me my options (which the other one didn't). She and her staff make you feel so comfortable and at ease, and they are all very professional. I'm much relieved to have it done and SO glad I went back to Dr. Bills. Can't recommend her enough!! read more

Dr. Bills and her staff are AWESOME!!! My 15 year old son was hit in the mouth with a baseball and had to have 3 root canals. Needless to say, he was a little apprehensive about having this done. Dr. Bills and her entire staff were so incredibly friendly that it completely put him at ease. I could not agree more with the previous reviewer! I was also in pain for over a month with hot and cold sensitivity which turned into horrendous pain in the side of my mouth and jaw even up to my ear. I ended up going to an Urgent Care because I though maybe I had an ear infection. I had a filling a couple of months ago and had to go back 3 or 4 times because the dentist thought my bite needed to be adjusted and the sensitivity would go away. When that didn't work he finally took out the filling and replaced it. It felt better the next day, but then my jaw starting KILLING me! It hurt to talk and eat. It was a dull pain constantly and then sharp pain after using my jaw too much. I was prescribed 800mg Ibuprofen and told it would get better after a few days. Not so. Finally I was referred to Dr. Bills. Over 15 years ago I had a root canal that was excruciating. I was never completely numbed so I felt everything. Naturally I was very nervous to have another one. Dr. Bills' staff reassured me that the other one was painful because Dr. Bills did not do it. I was in and out of her office in under 2 hours and it actually was less painful than fillings I've had done. I was even able to join my friends on a trip to the beach for the weekend w/o any pain!
