I recently approached Cougar Watches and Clocks with an extremely old and worn out Mantle clock…read morethat I inherited. This clock had been sitting in my shed for many years, and was covered in mould and the wood had gone rotten on most of it. I confirmed with the Watchmaker that I was hoping to get the clock restored to its original glory, not knowing if that was possible. The service I received from the Watchmaker and his staff was second to none. I was advised that the clock could be restored, was advised of a time and a price to which I thought both was very reasonable. I was kept updated on the progress and when the clock was finished, I could not fault the workmanship. It looked amazing and I am very grateful for the time and quality that was given to get the clock looking like that. Thanks everyone at Cougars!!

Took one mechanical watch and one mechanical clock for service/repair quote…read more Quote for watch, delivered next day $395 for a service. - Circa 1970s watch; basic mechanical, not a chronograph, not luxury, no complications, no date function: $395. Took it to another place - they did the work for $90. Quote for clock only occurred when I called them again 2 weeks later. $450 for a service. - Circa 1980s mechanical clock; wind up, no pendulum, no date, no complications, not Swiss. Found I can buy an entire new mechanism (the 'heart' of the clock) retail for $80. In summary: - they're expensive. - no explanation of problems/faults on enquiry. I asked and was just told that was the cost of the service. - I had to chase them to get the quote - Misplaced items: I provided the key to wind the clock when I left it. When I picked the clock up they insisted they didn't have they key, they wouldn't have taken it. I was insistent and after they looked for it, they found the key. - I called - twice - to check if they could service the watch I brought in. Technically they can, it just costs four times the price on buying the same watch again at today's prices. There is no aspect of my dealing with this business that I can possibly recommend.
