Recently I saw this show on HBO called taxi cab confessions. It was this show where people just…read moreget in the back of the cab and start to reveal all these intimate secrets and stories about their lives. It was amazing. Since I'd never ridden in a taxi or been to Delaware I figured I would kill two birds with one stone (don't worry...I'd never actually kill a bird with a stone...let alone two. I'd use a bb gun or poison or something if I absolutely had to kill one but would never actually want to have to kill one). So I called this cab company and they came right out to my mom's house (my mom and dad are divorced) and picked me up. The cab driver asked me where to and I said, "Delaware." He said, "Yeah, I know kid. Where in Delaware." Since I hadn't really thought about where in Delaware I wanted to go...I just blurted out the first city that came to mind. Wilmington. So we set about on our merry way. Once we got onto the blue route I started to tell the guy a story about something I let a guidance counselor do to me while I was in high school. This dude basically flipped out and started making noises and said, 'whoa, whoa, whoa...buddy...what's wrong with you? I don't wanna hear about that stuff?" I was pretty confused, having just seen taxi cab confessions and all and asked him what he'd prefer I talk about. He said, "I dunno, pal...how about the Eagles or basketball or soemthing?" I was pretty disappointed because I'd been wanting to get that stuff off my chest (figuratively...I'd already gotten it off physically years before....actually that same night I scrubbed like crazy in the shower) plus I don't know anything about sports. So the rest of the ride was pretty quiet until we got near Wilmington...he then asked me again, "Where we going?" And I said, "Wilmington?" And again, the cabbie got upset and said, "Yeah, I know, pal. Where to in Wilmington? I gotta know where to drop ya off." Then I told him that I didn't actually have anyplace to go that I just wanted to make a confession in the back of his cab and figured I'd go and see Delaware while I was at it. He called me a few choice words and then got off the ramp in Wilmington and then drove me back to my mom's house. He was probably having a bad night but I enjoyed myself alot. I got to see DE, met a friend and got to go out on a Friday night. All in all it was awesome. I'll probably call them again tonight and maybe take another ride down there. Maybe this time he'll let me finish my story.

I asked if they'd have cab's available when I called that night and they said sure no problem, there'd be cabs available. I called that night when I needed to be picked and the disgruntled rude lady on the phone told me it was a 45 min-1 hour wait for a cab. I Germantown Cab Company instead who zipped right over and got me.

What…read morestarted at a positve experience with a driver (named Jonathan) arriving to my house at the exact time requested, a seamless drop-off at my requested destination turned turned into a frustrating experience. Upon arrival to destination, I gave my credit card to the drive to cover the $60+ fare, and he wrote down the credit card # on his clipboard. I game him a $10 cash tip in the meantime. I was also looking for pickup later in the day, so told him I would be looking for a ride later for a return trip home. No problem, and he supplied his cell # to text him later. Later in the day, I proceed with a text and he texts back to say he is not in the area and no other drivers are available within 20-30 mins. No problem, I pursued another taxi company and requested a pickup. Not too much later, my Main Line taxi driver calls to let me know he can come to pick me up, but he was a little way away. No problem, I'll wait for him. After an hour, no cab and I ended up taking my "backup" from another cab company. Lo and behold a phone call from Main Line saying my taxi had arrived. At this point, I had already taken my "backup" cab the 45 min commute home and was resting comfortably. Over and done with, right? Nope. I check my credit card statement a few days later to see 2 pending transactions from Main Line taxi. One was for the original cab ride ($60) and another charge had appeared for $81. Turns out the driver went ahead and charged me a fare for his failed pickup after having been over an hour late. Needless to say I have since disputed the fraudulent charges with my bank and will do everything in my power to make people aware of the difficulty I encountered. Take into consideration that this could be a case of one renegade driver, but it does reflect negatively on Main Line Taxi as a whole. I'll be relaying the same to the Better Business Bureau.
