We attempted to schedule an appointment for a minor at Germantown Psychological Associates. What should have been a straightforward intake process became a series of administrative errors, inaccurate explanations of federal policy, and unprofessional conduct that created unnecessary barriers to care. Based on this experience, I would never feel comfortable entrusting my family's care to this practice.Save yourself the headache. Explore other providers. Major issues encountered: Intake forms promised via email were never sent, and no clear appointment confirmation was provided -- despite multiple phone calls. And that's if the intake department even calls to begin with after requesting the appointment on the initial call. The intake department had to be called weeks later and prompted to initiate our intake process, which includes several digital forms. After forms were not received, we were informed of a policy that appointments are cancelled if paperwork isn't submitted in advance -- a tricky requirement when the paperwork itself was never issued. If you want a disgruntled young lady with a flat affect to condescendingly explain how your email's spam folder works, this is the practice for you! Spoiler Alert: The intake forms were not in the spam folder even after I learned how to check it, much to my good sis's chagrin. During the multiple phone conversations required to correct their administrative oversight, staff consistently demonstrated a condescending, dismissive tone. Staff explicitly refused to verify insurance coverage and redirected us to handle it ourselves in a dismissive manner. After we believed everything had been addressed, there was still ambiguity regarding whether the intake appointment even remained scheduled. When I arrived in person with a completed copy of the intake form and attempted to confirm the appointment, staff refused to confirm anything because I did not have a Release of Information. In this instance, no protected health information was being requested or shared -- we were attempting to confirm whether an intake appointment existed for a patient not yet established in care. Rather than clarify policy or escalate appropriately, the interaction became argumentative. As tensions rose, the office manager physically raised her hand to silence me in conversation rather than addressing the administrative breakdown. If nothing else, their commitment to the bit was admirable, albeit concerning. At no point was there accountability, clarity, or an effort to repair the situation so that a minor could access needed clinical assessment services. For a practice offering ADHD and psychological assessments, administrative precision, accurate policy communication, and respectful interaction should be foundational. Instead, this experience created barriers to accessing care. We promptly withdrew our paperwork and sought services elsewhere. For something as sensitive as securing healthcare for your family, the intake process should not feel adversarial. I left discouraged that families in our community may encounter this level of disorganization and dismissiveness when seeking care. Families navigating psychological evaluations are already managing significant stress. Administrative disorganization and inaccurate policy explanations should not compound that burden. read more

DO NOT USE THIS PROVIDER. They told me that they accepted my insurance, I scheduled the intake appointment for my daughter and waited 6 months. I filled out the new patient forms a week ahead of time and they automatically charged my card, but they never filed an insurance claim. After the appointment I find out that they do not accept my insurance!! They told me "they forgot" to call me to tell me. My health insurance provider is United Healthcare through my employer. All three members of my family have been to Germantown Psych at some point. If (and it is a BIG if) you can get past the horrible people at the desk, the providers are the best I have ever been to. That is why they are booked solid despite the front desk problems. However, when you are going to therapy because of anxiety or depression or whatever else your issues are, the absolute LAST thing you need to deal with is rude, disrespectful and sometimes downright nasty service at the desk and on the phone. You cannot get to your doctor without getting past that barrier and it just became too much for us to bear. I know that they are aware of the problem. They have to be. I know I told them when we said we were leaving. Not all of the ladies are like that, some are quite pleasant. But there is one in particular that is just a witch from hades who stays on a power trip. I do not understand why they keep her on unless she is the manager's wife or daughter. They are HARMING their patients by allowing this behavior to continue, or they are losing the patients. I can attest to the fact that you have a very hard time finding any other therapist or counselor to match up with the caring attention and expertise of the providers there (at least the ones we saw). So after trying and leaving some other places, all three of us just completely stopped looking for therapy. I know we could still use it at times. I even mentioned it today how nice it would be to talk to 'so&so' at Germantown Psych right now, but I was not about to deal with the front desk. It wasn't worth that much to me. But the nastiness at the front desk, including phone call fielding, truly messed up our lives because we do not have the therapy for the stress, depression and other issues. I just wish the management cared more. It is pathetic and truly sad. read more

Julie Ferguson came highly recommended for my daughter. Although we had to wait two months for her first appointment, it was well worth the wait. My daughter was self-harming and had zero self confidence when she first met with Julie. My daughter would not talk to us or come out of her room. 2 years later and my daughter has become a self-confident 18 year old who knows how to use the tools that Julie taught her. I cannot stress how much consistent therapy has helped my daughter see her worth and have hope for her future now. Julie has always maintained confidentiality between her and my daughter, but will meet with me separately to offer suggestions for things we can do at home to help make our daughter in her journey to mental wellness. After the initial appointment, scheduling was a breeze. I am able to make weekly appointments a month in advance. I highly recommend Julie Ferguson for teen girls, she is a gem. read more

Unfortunately, I chose this place to bring my daughter when she needed help. She had to wait weeks for an initial appointment. At that time, we learned she would have to wait several weeks to be tested, with an a evaluation appointment after that, and wait several more weeks before her first therapeutic session. I could see this place was concerned more about over-booking patients and maximizing their profits than they were about helping people. Additionally, they would only address one of the two problems she had (the anxiety disorder but not the bipolar symptoms because she's "too young")--they refuse to even test her for it. I asked for my money back, but they refused. We then took her to a child psychiatrist who quickly and correctly diagnosed her. He prescribed some medications and she began improving immediately. read more

I started seeing Dr. Angillilo about 25 years ago. I was in a bad state of mind from childhood abuse. He was the best listener. He helped me find myself and value myself. He taught me how to have a voice. I could tell he truly cared about me as a person. I had been to three other therapists and I got worse. I was very sad to hear he passed last year. I definitely recommend this group. Everyone is so caring. I will be going back to this group soon. I can't wait to meet my new therapist! read more

I'm with the person who wanted to give zero stars. I'm sure the Doctor's are fantastic, but J could not get past the front office. Horrible. Scheduled a virtual appointment, then, my bad didn't fill out the insurance form right away. Day of, I did, and to my horror, didn't hav e the link for the appointment. Apparently they sent another form, don't have it, claimed they called, don't have the missed call, and when I offered to fill it in right then they claimed it needed to be in 48 hours in advance. Which is funny, since they claimed to have sent the second form two days ago..... They were RUDE and inflexible. I will take my business elsewhere and recommend you do the same. read more

My daughter has been going to this office since last year . Her Dr. is Dr. Greenberg! Today around 9am I called to speak on behalf my daughter appointment I rescheduled. The young lady was very sweet this morning and stated she would try her best to get The Dr to waiver her fee for me and would call me to let me know what dr said . I called back around 2pm to get update a different receptionist answered ! She was very rude she told me it doesn't matter who I spoke with early and that I signed a waiver for late fee ! I stated ma'am I understand that but I'm just calling to get a update ! She then stated again that it doesn't matter and started to become very disrespectful! I said ma'am you should never talk to patients parents like that its unprofessional she then said your right I lost my kool ma'am and then said I need to understand she is a receptionist with issues of her own . I told her I understand what she is saying but you should never treat patients parents like that . I told her I'm a General Manager so customer service is everything . She then said well guess what I'm going to school to get my PHD and then hung up in my face ! I am so upset how I was treated I'm currently waiting on a call from her Dr. and trying to find my 12 year old daughter another psychologist. My child has ADHD and other issues and you mean to tell me I have to deal with this when I call her Dr.office. This is terrible . read more

The front desk staff at this location is horrible. My primary care dr at Family Physicans Group referred me to Germantown Psychological. The lady at the front desk informed me my insurance was out of network. I stated oh I might see if I can find someone in network. She immediately hung up the phone in my face. I called her back to ask why she stated I thought we were done with the conversation and hung up again. No one deserves to be treated this way. I would never recommend this facility. read more

I wish I could give zero stars! If you pay them up front for testing be careful. They said I owed $280 for my portion. I paid with no problem. My insurance came back and paid 100% I have asked for my money back for 6 months. The office manager has told me three times she will cut my check. I am about to contact the state insurance commissioner because this is ridiculous. I will not be coming back. read more

Was actually referred to this place by my GP... after repeated phone calls and requests for an appointment, they finally called me back after three weeks (!), only to inform me that their first available appointment was another three MONTHS down the road! If you're looking to see someone in the immediate (or even near) future, you can absolutely FORGET this place! read more

Don't waste your time. They do not seem to want new patients. I have called several times this week between the hours of 8 and 5, and they only answer the phone about 50% of the time. I have left 3 messages - one on voicemail, and 2 with the not so friendly person that answered the phone. Their intake coordinator has weird hours and was not in the office either of the times that I have called and actually spoken to someone. Once she finally called me back, 4 days after the first time I called, she said the next available appointment for a new patient will be in 4-5 months. That is ridiculous. Why couldn't the person who answered the phone tell me that so I wouldn't have wasted my time calling back so many times? We need help now, and they apparently are not interested in helping. read more

This office has to be the most impersonal office I have ever had any contact with. I also have to say this office is very unprofessional. To be an office for people dealing with Psychological issues you would think they would be there for the patients and their families. That is not the case with this place. My son is over the age of 18 but is shy. I have him on my insurance and I am paying his medical bills. I realize this office is not supposed to give out any private or personal information regarding the patient and I DO NOT want that information nor was I asking for any information. My son works almost 12 hours a day. He goes in to work before this clinic opens and he gets off after this clinic closes. He only gets 30 minutes for lunch, when he is on lunch and tries to call the office they DO NOT answer their phones. They DO NOT return calls either. I tried to get my son an appointment scheduled with this office, I was told because he is over the age of 18 I could not schedule him an appointment, he would have to call himself. I don't know why, I make appointments for him with all his other doctors and I have never been told that before. When my son finally got an appointment he found out a few days before his appointment, he does not go in to the office, the appointment is on the computer and not in person. What kind of a Psychologist/Psychiatrist does their individual sessions on a computer? This office also emailed forms/paperwork that needed to be filled out and sent back via email. That is understandable but there was some information they were requesting regarding insurance information, what was the current balance of our deductible for this year and an EAP # and more. I do not have that information. Most doctor's offices have hired Medical Office/Billing Assistants that are SUPPOSED to be qualified to get that information, the contact information to the insurance company is on the back of the card, but it did not matter, I had to contact my insurance company and get the information for this office. Thankfully, I managed to find my son another doctor's office where he can go in to the office and meet face to face with the doctor. I told my son to call this office back and cancel his appointment but he didn't want to because he said the woman who answers the phone, when she decides to answer the phone is really mean. After a few minutes of talking to my son I told him to try again. My son tried to call this office to cancel his appointment on Friday but as usual he could not get anyone to answer the phone. Then he started again on Monday with no response. I tried to call and spoke with a rude woman on the phone who told me I could not cancel the appointment my son had to, I told her he had tried to call 9 times and was not able to get anyone to answer the phone. But she said it did not matter. My son finally get in contact with the rude woman at this office. He called me back and said his appointment has been cancelled. Let's hope so. I am not paying anything to this place nor will I ever recommend this office to anyone. Matter of fact I will make sure everyone I come in contact with knows not to call Germantown Psychological Associates!!!! read more

First visit to this place. Wife took my son to check on ADHD and get some help. Visit started with an extremely rude person at the front desk. Was 5 minutes late and had to do paperwork, which is fine, but she told me to call my insurance company to get details and fill out paper work. Was not sure how to answer some of the questions and my insurance company even questioned why I was doing this instead of the Dr. Office i was at. I was doing the job they should be doing....would have saved some time as well. Since I did not know all the questions, I stood next to the front desk window in case I needed to ask her a question at the office. She rudely told me to sit down....and I do mean RUDE! So, my insurance company told me I need to pay $20 copay....but the lady said it is $75!....she did not care about what my insurance company told me, she said "They always say that."....no explanation. Being mad, confussed, and upset, I gave them $75. Should not have b/c that is not what my insurance stated. So I guess they just stole $55 of my money? Will be calling back in a little while to talk to someone else that hopefully will be helpful. This visit was the worst visit I have ever experienced with any of my 3 children. If you want them to tell you how much to pay instead of your insurance company and want to be talked down to extremely rudely, this is your place. Since the visit was "Meet and greet", I cannot rank the help yet and may not go back if I can find another place that will give us the kindness and help we need. read more
