Great record store with one MAJOR fault. Sticker pricing the record with extra sticky price stickers on the actual cover or back corner. I bought $90 worth of records and three of them were ruined even after I blew dried them to help warm up the glue. I guess the eXtra sticky sticker makes it a nightmare for thieves to switch prices, but a worse nightmare for the person paying for it. Maybe if they don't use such sticky stickers when pricing it it might be gentler? Otherwise. Great selection, above average condition, helpful staff. Super amazing store. Best in CT! read more

I frequent this establishment so I may be a bit biased. With that said, Gerosa is an institution and by far CT's best. Really fantastic selection of typically PRISTINE records and CDs across a plethora of genres. Combined with friendly, knowledgeable, and highly personable staff, I couldn't possibly ask for more. This store may be close to an hour from me, but it never feels like a trek when my experiences are always highly positive. Fun store to explore while digging in the crates on vinyl. Organized really well with records underneath the cases of records. Competitive pricing for record stores. Lots of Art. Hip hop selection was average. Decent section for new hip hop LPs but not much 12" single selection that i saw. Very expansive rock & jazz vinyl section. New and used. Drove by this place so many times without realizing it was there until I got a turntable and started looking. Popped in on a Sunday afternoon. Had to wait outside a few minutes because they were at max Covid capacity. I'm mostly looking for punk (most specifically 90s skate punk style). Selection for punk was decent, but not massive. Prices seemed fair to high and picked up a couple from my wishlist. They had plenty of other stuff seemingly from all different genres, both new and used. read more

This is easily my favorite record store in Connecticut (and one of the best record stores I've ever been to). Fantastic selection of rock and jazz and the prices are fair. It's one of the only record stores I've been to where they have a big enough selection that I can really compare different pressings of the same album and pick which one I like best (i.e. If you want The Doors S/T there's a chance you can pick between a copy from 1967, or '68 or 2007, etc.). This is my go-to shop for used records (you can just about fill in your entire classic rock catalogue here) but they also have a great selection of contemporary rock. The used records are all very high quality and rarely will you find one with major blemishes or damage and the records themselves are always in great condition--I have yet to purchase a used record that was scratched or sounded poor in quality. The staff is super friendly and everyone there is just a big fan of music and wants to help you fined what you're after. I remember one of the women that worked there was so nice that she noticed me spending a lot of time trying to decide which albums to purchase after helping me find and give me some recommendations for 60's psychedelic rock and she said "Hey, there's no pressure to buy any of these". Little things like that go a long way. They also have a lot of great audio gear and if you are into MOFI and high-fidelity pressings they have a whole wall dedicated just to that. When I think of a great, fun record store with goods vibes I think of Gerosa Records, because it really is just one of those great establishments with a reputation that's stood the test of time. Wow! A music enthusiast's dream! This store has the biggest and most well curated selection of vinyl in the state. The Beatles' section is huge (a plus for me). They have expanded their Metal section and from my observations of other record stores I'm going to say they have the largest Jazz section I have seen. Add the extensive selection of box sets, 45s, CDs and DVDs and you have a winner! Oh, and don't overlook the vintage stereo equipment. Very impressive. Worth the trip from anywhere! read more

Wow. That's all I have to say is wow. Gerosa Records is tucked into a small strip of stores near downtown Danbury and it is a hidden gem. They have a massive collection of both new and used records broken down into very easy to follow genres. They had one of the most complete modern vinyl sections I've seen (I was able to find a harder to find Dave Matthews Band record). They also had Beatles records 3-5 deep. If you're looking for a first pressing of any of their albums this is the place to check out. Be sure to keep an eye out for their used turntables, speakers and receivers as well. I'd highly recommend this little, old time vinyl shop. read more

Wherever I go I always search out the local record stores and I can say without hesitation that Gerosa Records is my favorite. There are tons of used records. Unlike a lot of record stores Gerosa is organized and it is easy to flip through the records to find what you want. The Rock and Jazz sections are huge. They are constantly refilling the "New Arrivals" section. Vinyl and covers are usually in great condition and the prices are always fair and reflect the condition of what you are buying. There is also a good sized section of New Vinyl and used CD's if that's your thing. Not to mention used turntables & speakers. The owner has had this store for a long time and knows exactly what he's doing. I've spent a lot of time chatting with him and a lot of these conversations have turned me on to bands I may not have heard of otherwise. I cannot say enough good things about Gerosa Records. If you love records and are traveling through CT do yourself a favor and jump off I-84 and check it out. It's roughly six minutes off the Interstate and you'll be happy you did. read more

This shop was great and it was a few little things that made a huge impact: Flipping through used vinyl was a pleasure, the records were plentiful but well distributed on the shelves so I didn't have to take out two handfuls to get a good flip going. The price tags on are on the BACK of the jacket in the corner (as well as on the front OUTSIDE the plastic sleeve). This is great. More shops need to do this. Mangling a front cover trying to fingernail a shitty price tag off is a nightmare. I can live with a price tag on the back (at least for a little while). LOTS of bands on dividers. Not just the heavyweights and then an alphabetical catch-all. This is the first place I've been that has a "Gentle Giant" divider. So rad. And even multiples of titles! Great quality used wax. All the records I pulled and inspected were in great condition for being about 40 years old. And the prices were great. I snagged 14 VG-NM LPs for just over $100. I loved it and had a great time. My son and i constantly make the record store rounds pretty much every weekend. We hit a bunch of stores in our loop but Gerosa's is by far the best. Can almost guarantee always leaving with a gem at a fair price. I have bought many lps here and never been disappointed. The selection is amazing. They need more room!! The only reason i'm giving them a four star rating is because there has been a couple of times i went there on a Sunday and they were closed even though they are supposed to be open from 11 to 5. A bit of a ride for me. Maybe a ans machine telling your cust. that you intend to close on certain days would help. Either way i recommend this establishment highy. read more

Have been shopping here for close to 15 years. This is a great independent record shop for those who still listen to vinyl. They reaLly have a great selection and they can sell you anything from cheap used records to refurbished, vintage, and rare turntables, amps, and associated equipment. Staff are friendly and helpful. I used to go to this place a lot more often a few years ago. Back then you could get a good album for a great price. They had quite a large selection of $1 LPs and somewhat of a decent selection of CDs. The brand new LPs from modern day artists were at competitive prices as well. Since that time, however, the store has gone downhill. The $1 LPs had increased in price to $5 LPs, which the staff claimed were just unsorted. The CD selection is almost nonexistent now. While the section of brand new LPs has expanded, there is a definite mark up on them and you can find them for much less on Amazon. I like to support mom and pop shops, but when Amazon is offering the record for sometimes $5 less (with free shipping), I'm gonna go with them. As some people have said, the owner and some of the staff at this shop can seem pretentious at times, but I have never received less than adequate customer service from them. I'd have given them four stars if price and selection was the only problem I've had, but the three star review has more to do with the experience I had when I took my sound equipment to be repaired. I dropped the equipment off on a Saturday. All I was looking for was an estimate, so I didn't think it would take that long to hear back. A week and a half later, I called to see what the status was. And was told that the guy hadn't gotten to it yet. Another week went by before I got the estimate for repair. Not only that, but the guy called me and had my name wrong. If you're going to provide a service like this, it would make a customer more comfortable to be addressed by their name. Or maybe a Mr. Thrown in there somewhere. I was not impressed with this part of their business. If you're looking for some decent records and don't mind paying extra/don't want to travel for them, go here. I've traded this place for Redscroll in Wallingford as my favorite vinyl haven. I won't be patronizing this business again any time soon. read more

Finally made a trip up here and have to say they really do have a great vinyl selection and the prices are good. I was happy to walk away with some albums I had been looking for for a long time, yet this time the prices were normal and accessible (5-6.00) as opposed to 15-30 dollars a pop. I guess they want to move their product unlike some places... I also think that they clean all their records on a VPI cleaning machine or similar because they are super quiet. I'll have to find out for sure but that's a really good thing to do when selling used records. I'd go back more often if I didn't live so far away! PS- avoid the pizza place next door in the plaza... I walked out with three records. The guy beyond the counter worked with me with trunk to find a record. Very helpful. I will most certainly be back. read more

Each record they put on the floor is in great condition and you can trust it's been inspected. Not sure where the other reviewers went or what their experience was. My experiences at Gerosa have been consistently outstanding. I love vinyl. And the fact is, they have a better selection of vinyl than many of the stores did when I was a kid. The staff is highly knowledgeable and they've always been helpful. I like the layout of the store as well, I love not feeling like I'm in someone's manicured and uptight adult "toy" store where the prices are high and the so goes the attitude. This place is like a well worn guitar. They are my record store of choice. If you like vinyl and want the tactile experience you won't get in the iTunes store (and better sounding audio as well), give them a shot. read more

Tucked in a plaza along Federal Rd. in Brookfield, Gerosa Records is one of the very few record and CD shops left in not just the Brookfield area, but also Danbury and New Milford. With the big boy competitors gone like fye (or any Music Land spin-offs), looking for physical media means heading to nearby flea markets and thrift shops. The shop was lined with eager customers for a late Sunday opening, some looking for some starters on Steely Dan LP's, Pink Floyd (let me guess - Dark Side of the Moon?!), some looking to sell off stuff to the owner, the shop was hoppin'. Though a rock-centric shop, windows lined with Pink Floyd flyers (record shop clichés - yawn...) there's a wealthy selection of jazz and sub-genres, mostly LPs. The overall CD selection is mediocre with much space in racks needing refills, with prices beginning at $7. Factoring Amazon and (forget it) eBay costs with shipping, you often break even here if you can find what you're looking for. As for CDs, I didn't find it but the radar was lukewarm: an alright selection of jazz with, one of my peeves when looking for jazz, focus on the standards (Ellington, Davis, Coltrane, blah, blah, blah). These discs are ubiquitous, umpteenth-time printed and not uncommon - just marked up and lining shelves of jazz genres in most stores much like sports games in video game shops. Looking for rarer discs from 70's fusion and funk era, you'll will come up short. No Jean-Luc Ponty, no George Duke, no Crusaders, no Steve Khan, no John Tropea, very little Chick Corea and hardly any GRP discs. Though all more difficult street level finds, record and CD specialists are just expected to have some of these - the same discs I've found at Newbury Comics and fye (yes, chains, but these little guys have more power over what they choose to stock and price). Upon my search, I overheard the shopkeeper talking to some resellers, wanting more Miles Davis records stocked. Yeah, more. Sure Miles was a legend, but it's a tired, common, generic jazz request that shadows plenty other talented players overlooked by these fathers of jazz. Be original, Gerosa and stock some hard-to-find discs I can't find at fye. The LP section is abundant: with reprinted new and plenty used. While I don't have much desire for LP's, I could've picked up a few for art, but nothing I was looking for was there. Prices are very fair but conditions vary and some artists demand their market, like Frank Zappa and/or The Mothers, which I would've loved for wall art - but not starting at $25. This store passed the peeve of stickering on LP sleeves, not quite as much on CD jewel cases. LPs are carefully wrapped in a plastic sleeve with prices not posted to obscure the record. CD's have a fairly unobtrusive price sticker, largely than what most thrift stores do though, which could've been remedied by sleeves or small, loosely attached stickers themselves. Before Gerosa opened, I swept the area's thrift stores, finding some gems not found here like a (very rare, but not pricey at all) Wilton Felder CD at Goodwill, inarguably priced at $3 - nothing of that sort you'll find here. How about a bargain bin or multi-buy special? Though I didn't buy anything and likely won't be back. The shop owner was very knowledgeable, helpful to customers who wanted attention but didn't detract from being marred by lacking unique CD's, which are falsely unappreciated by record store owners who think LP's are the hot hipster cash-ins these days (because you just don't see records anymore!). read more

If you want sell records to them do not just walk into the store with them you have to call and make an appointment like at Replay in Hamden. Despite the instant gratification of online music purchasing there is no better way to satisfy your inner music lover than to spend a little time sifting through the album racks to find that long lost gem. I went there looking for the vinyl reissue of Smile around Christmas time. They had sold out but said they could get it the next day. I slogged through Danbury traffic the next day and would have called ahead to make sure they had got it in - but my phone had died. I got there and they handed Smile to me at the door. This used to be my go to place to purchase vinyl records of classics and those that never made it to CD. Also excellent selection of LP's with pristine covers to use for decorating. The problem here is the owners. They tend to be rude, arrogant, not helpful and basically a-holes. Too bad because I happen to suffer jerks poorly. read more

I live nowhere near Gerosa but my in-laws do. As such, I only end up making it into Gerosa maybe once or twice a year. Nonetheless, I always manage to dump a dangerous amount of cash there. Like any predominantly used record store, you can't ever go in there looking for something specific, because chances are they won't have it. But for the diggers, there's nothing but gems. A decent amount of new and used CDs and a very interesting selection of music DVDs, the big draw here is the vinyl, which is vast. Sure, this might be the place where you can pick up old Lionel Richie and Cheap Trick vinyl for a buck a piece, but this is also the place to be if you are looking for an original Byrds 7" single with mint picture sleeve, or maybe the second pressing of The Beatles "Hey Jude" where the label reads "The Beatles Again". Yeah, it's that kind of High Fidelity record geek heaven on earth. Hell, they're the only record store I've been to that actually has a separate section for Prog Rock, and a decent one to boot. They also have an excellent collection of vintage music magazines, books, and memorabilia. I really wish I lived closer. My wallet, however, does not. This place is great and not just because of the product they sell (a vinyl lover's dream) but because of the people who own and run the store. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable about artists, their histories and catalogs and willing to share this information with all their customers. I have been a customer since they opened and will not go anywhere else or on line to buy. Knowing what I like there have been many instances where they will hold or aquire an item knowing it is something I would want and purchase.
