After "Years" of taking our Boat to Gerry, his shop has informed us they no longer work on Mercruiser's older than '97. This was quite disappointing to hear. We were forced to find another local mechanic for which we are thankful we found a "Great One". Seems those days from the single car garage and excellent customer service are now a thing of the past, that's too bad.... And, unfortunate to say the least. I guess the fact that he's now located in the same shop he came from along w/some of the old Off Shore Marine Team, who totally sucked to say the least! IF YOU HAVE A BOAT OLDER THAN A '97, I SUGGEST YOU SEE "AQUA MARINE"! I dropped my boat off to have the power head replaced in September of 2021. It is now March of 2022. Since getting my boat back, (finally in January) I have had gone through 3 Power heads. Each time I have had to take it back for weeks, to months, & trust that they were going to fix the issue. Each time they either forgot to hook up oil or coolant lines. That caused those to blow. Finally I got one that seemed to be working fine, and went out to try it out and it wasn't getting good RPM's. I heard a ticking sound, so again had to take it back. They then stated the alternator bracket was broke. 300$ later, ticking sound was gone but still no RPM's. Had my prop worked on six times thinking that was the issue, it was not. I finally had a buddy that knows about boats come over to take a look at it, he pulled the cowling and right away noticed that the alternator cable was wrapped around the throttle. That is probably the cause of the bracket breaking in the first place. These guys claim to be professionals, but are quick to pass blame on the customer. None of these things that occurred could have possibly been me, yet that's what they do, pass blame. Why in the world I would wrap my own cable around the throttle, it makes no sense! I have friends who have also used this boat shop & have had terrible experiences. Close to the same experience of my own. Or worse. Definitely think twice, maybe even three times before you trust this shop with your boat. They are not the professional shop they claim to be. They assume you don't know what you're talking about, and con you into more parts/service. Steer clear of this shop if you don't want to deal with a complete nightmare. read more

The fuel pump went out on my 25 horse Merc Outboard. Took into Gerry's Marine. Gerry's Marine said it would be $500.00 for the part and $400.00 for labor. I said: No Thanks. I purchased the part online for $79.00 with free shipping and it took me one hour to install it. Moral of this story: "If you try to cheat someone, it come back and bite you" read more

They did an excellent job in getting the boat ready. We were on the river in the next 2 days and our boat ran better than it has since we have owned it. I don't even have a boat! I went to the gas station across the street to put air in my tires but their pump was broken. So I saw these two men across the street at Gerry's marine as I was turning around and I stopped and just asked them if they had an available compressor I could use and the guy was kind enough to just put air in my tires for me. This is lesson on how to succeed as a business owner: Yesterday my son borrowed our boat for a trip to Lake Mohave with his friends for a wedding celebration. At 10 pm I received a call from my son stating the engine was cutting out on his way in to the marina to pickup a couple of late arrivals. After about an hour of troubleshooting with my son while he was floating in the basin, we determined the problem was probably the "notorious" Volvo-Penta fuel pump issue that has since been updated and re-designed. Apparently, the unit becomes too hot from low flow caused by interior paint deteriorating and clogging the internals of the pump. Subsequently, you'll hear a loud whining sound before the entire engine ultimately cuts out. It will then run again once the fuel pump cools down, but eventually it burns out. After researching Yelp's online reviews in the middle of the night, I was impressed and hopeful with what I read about Gerry's Marine. Bright and early this morning I called Gerry to verify the diagnosis, which he confirmed and added that it was also recommended to replace the bypass valve, which could also be contributing to the fuel pump issue. Now here's where Gerry went above and beyond most business owners; Not only did he have the updated replacement oem fuel pump to fit my boat in stock, he clearly understood the terrible position we were in by having a inoperable boat in the marina that was 9-miles from our beach and camping gear. Even though Gerry was booked solid for almost 2-weeks, he compassionately offered to go to the shop early and spend a couple of hours to perform the repair to help get us back on the water. And if that wasn't enough, Gerry noticed my son had experienced a flat tire in route to the lake yesterday morning and offered to "give" him a replacement, so he would once again have a spare tire. My family is forever grateful to you Gerry! We appreciate your outstanding service and extremely fair prices. You saved a vacation and earned a lifetime customer! read more

Needed work done on a shifting in and out of gear issue. The upper and lower units on the out drive had to be removed(which we were already aware of the need to do so) to address the issue. While that was off we had the impeller and impeller shaft changed. Last, due to running issues, the carburetor was rebuilt. Couldn't be more pleased by the results. When I got this boat we had no idea what we're getting into & thanx to Gerry & Randy they fixed everything that was wrong to get me in the water in time for Memorial Day! The list was a mile long everything from new drives to almost replacing the generator. Any other shop would have charged me a crazy amount of money... not Honest Gerry he was more then fair. I was having trouble getting the boat engine started. It would start, then die. Other mechanics thought it was a bad fuel pump and would cost $1400+. I took it in to Gerry's Marine. After some troubleshooting Randy determined that it was an electrical issue. He went through the system and it turns out it was a loose connection in the kill switch. He removed some corrosion and secured the connection. Now my boat is running great. Cost me $100. Best money I ever spent. They saved the weekend. read more

Honest Company. I bought a used boat took it out on the water three times and then took it to Jerry for a service and told him to completely dial it in. He could have up charged me big time at the very least an oil change but he said the oil and fluids were clean and there was no need. Honest what more can you ask for? read more

I bought a 95 Advantage SR21 with an EFI 7.4. Boat was cutting off at high RPM's took it to Gerry on Thursday about 8am. He was done by 11 and I picked it up about 4. He ran a Dyno and came up with no codes at issues. He fixed a loose ground on tank switch and found a short in my blower. He ran some fuel cleaner and suggest I buy a few more to run another tank full after. I left took the boat out the next day and it ran perfect with zero problems. Not sure if it was the cleaner or the 20 degrees of temperature drop. Nevertheless the boat seems fine now. I found him to be honest and very inexpensive. I was charged $291. read more
