I would give Gerry 10 stars if I could. We own a beast of a boat (Magic with 850 hp) and in all honesty I was scared to take it to anyone. I found Gerry based on his reviews and we rolled in with a broken alternator. That was the first of many things he has fixed over the last year and he does an incredible job. I did my homework before purchasing a 22 foot 1987 Bayliner with the expectation of getting a couple of seasons out of it, mostly just to see if I would like and use something that size before spending real money. I knew the boat ran but I set a realistic maintenance budget of $3500 to deal with anything and everything that would need to be fixed or replaced. Gerry's Marine did a fantastic job and had me out the door for under $2300. The work was competent and done in a timely manner. Frankly, they caught a lot of problems that I would have missed entirely. I couldn't be happier with it. The boat is running so well that I'm rethinking the whole, "two seasons," thing. Very impressed! The work was solid. Their communication with me was fantastic. Gerry was generous with information on the boat, positives and negatives, and things to consider. He answered a number of questions for me, many of which didn't necessarily relate to the work being done. When I later had an operator error issue, I called and he was kind enough to help me out of a tight spot. I can't say enough good about the shop and the way I was treated. The feeling I had from the staff there was that they would rather do the job right and have long term customers than do the the standard Vegas treatment of sticking it to the customer. Took my outdated 5.0 Alpha 1 Harris Kayot in for repairs and service Gerry evaluated the motor with Mercury technician on the phone. Anyway it turned out that my motor was in sad condition. Gerry just rebuilt a 5.7 motor which was on the stand. Put the newly rebuilt motor in my boat in hours and had me back in the water after being frustrated with my vessel for too long right......His rebuild is working like a dream with a 18 month warranty. And they delivered!! When the big boat shops were quoting 6-week backlogs, Gerry scheduled me within 10 days and had my repairs done the same day. I ran a bit late, and called him to let him know, and he said no problem. The inspection went well, and I was walked through the entire boat by the tech, who also helped us with some wiring issues on the trailer for no charge. These guys know what they are doing. I went in to winterize and figure out some other problems with a leak and they were able to find the issue and quote me the repair very quickly. They were also able to replace a seal that typically requires changing out the entire unit. On top of the awesome response and patience for explaining repair options, at the end of a costly repair they reduced my bill because the job went smoother than they anticipated and the labor was less time. I don't know many shops that are that honest. Not only are they knowledgeable and honest, but they were very candid in answering questions I had about my boat. So I've been around boats before but never owned one. I bought a boat that was about 15 years old so I knew there would be some issues and wanted to find a good repair shop. Well as expected I put the boat in the water and it started running rough so I loaded it up and made an appointment with Gerry. Based on what I told him over the phone he gave me two scenarios of what "could" be wrong. A best case and a worst case. When I dropped the boat off the guy (not Gerry) that was going to do the work took some time to ask me what happened and I got a good feeling about him being able to figure out what the issue was. He then told me about an issue with my particular boat/motor fuel system setup that is known to be an issue and would cost a lot to fix. I figured while I had it in the shop id go ahead and do some maintenance that it needed as well. They told me it would take about 2-3 days to diagnose the issue and do the maintenance as long as they didn't have to order parts. They called back on the 3rd day and gave me good news. The boat was ready to be picked up and was way cheaper than I thought it was going to be. It was just in need of a little TLC and that the boat was running smooth with no major issues (just needed a new distributor cap and plugs). I put the boat in the water the following weekend and she ran stronger than before. I think they knew I was a novice when it came to the mechanical aspect owning a boat and could have easily taken advantage of me. They also stayed open later than usual to accommodate my work schedule so I could pick up my boat before the weekend. These are some real upstanding guys and Gerry runs an awesome shop.
