Booked the postcard tour (there is a longer tour @4 hours). It was great. You meet the bus at the Hoover dam lodge(@45 minutes from the strip) the bus takes you to a restricted area at the base of the dam... I mean seriously restricted if you aren't on the tour you ain't getting this view. Our driver was victor nice guy very knowledgeable. Boat guide was Sarah. Excellent boat handler ( I know because I'm a crappy boat handler and she didn't do any of the dumb stuff I do. Water and snacks were provided along with towels to cool off with. Went down river a bit. Great views and took a brief swim/ wading break. Temperature was @100 degrees but at no point was I uncomfortable. Access to the boat was good. You do have to cross about 5 foot of natural rock from the sidewalk but I managed with no issues with a cane and leg brace. Overall 5 stars. Left my hotel at 10 am and got back at two. Nice afternoon for not a lot of money

This was our 3rd tour experience with Hoover Dam Rafting Adventures! We were excited when we learned that Russ was our raft guide and captain again! Russ is so knowledgeable and has so much passion of the history of the Hoover Dam, the river and surrounding areas! We learned something new with every tour! Russ keeps the tour fun with amazing stories of Black Canyon and with great humor! 10 gold stars for Russ. In fact, all of the staff is wonderful from the moment you check in, starting the tour on the little bus that takes you down the canyon to your raft! Our bus driver was Brian (10 gold stars for Brian too!) Brian kicks it off with history of the men who worked the dam and highlights of the road as we made our way to the base of the dam! So exciting from the get go! You can see some amazing wild life too! This tour is always top of the list when family and friends come into town! Do this tour! It's a blast!!

Friendly and experienced staff! See how the Hoover Dam looks from the safety of a professionally guided raft. Whether you take the "Post Card" tour or the Regular Run, you and your friends and family will certainly enjoy these trips.

We had so much fun doing this. The view was incredible. Sarah was so knowledgeable and friendly. unfortunately it was over 100 degrees.. so it was hot. Sarah was awesome making sure everyone stayed hydrated, she kept to the shade where possible and kept changing out our cool wet towels. we really appreciated her concern as we had no idea it would be that hot. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

First time kayaking and I had such a great time. Great instructors and guides. Very fun tour! Would do it again.

Running the river.

We spent a fantastic day on the river with our guide Eugene. He was exceedingly knowledgeable on history, wildlife and geology on the dam and river. A wonderful time for all.

Beautiful kayaking place. This is awesome to paddle down and learn some great history of the dam.

The view of the dam and the O'Callaghan-Tillman Memorial bridge from the start.

I have taken the Black Canyon Adventures raft trip from Hoover Dam to Willow Beach twice. If you drive yourself to the Lake Mead area, the company's office is at the Lake Mead RV Village. This is inside the Lake Mead National Recreation area and there is a charge for entering unless you have a pass. Check in went smoothly and we boarded two busses to be driven to the base of the dam. There's a short walk to the area where you walk over some rocks to get to the pontoon type raft. Once on board, the guide/boat driver will give you a short safety talk. Soon you're on your way enjoying the magnificent views of Black Canyon. Questions are encouraged and being a local, I know the answers were correct. The website says the trip is 3 hours. The day is longer than that. You are to arrive between 9:15 and 9:30. We left for the dam about 10 AM. We got back from Willow Beach after 2 PM so it's a full day adventure if you factor the travel times in. We made two stops. The first was on a sandy area along the river where we had our lunch. The lunch is included in the price of the tour and consists of a turkey wrap, an apple, a bag of chops, and some cookies. This stop was about 1/2 hour in length. The second stop was for people who wanted to stretch their legs, have a cigarette, or take a bathroom break in the bushes. The scenery is stunning and both times I've been on the tour, the guides have been very knowledgable. On arrival at Willow Beach in Arizona, you have time for getting a drink at the store, perhaps a souvenir, and use the bathrooms. You then load the bus which takes you back to the Lake Mead RV Village where the cars are parked. This is a great day trip and a way to see something away from the Strip.

On the first deck is where the buffet style dinner was available. We were served a wedge salad, dinner rolls and cornbread. For an entree and sides the choices were baked beans, corn, mashed potatoes, breaded catfish, grilled chicken thighs and smoked brisket. Ice water, lemonade and desserts were included. If you want an alcoholic drink the bar is on the middle deck. We truly enjoyed the magnificent views of the lake, mountains, Hoover dam and the sunset.

The boat ride itself is 90 minutes, and basically only takes you to Hoover Dam and back. It's not particularly fast, so it can feel like a leisure ride on the lake, with jet-skis zooming around. The boat itself is three tiered, with open seating on the very top level. They put out some plastic chairs for you to sit on as well on that top level. It can be super hot in the summer, so there were not too many people on the third deck. The second level is indoor with air-conditioning and plenty of tables with seating. That's where you can also purchase food and drinks. Nevada locals cost $30, while normal tickets cost $40. Kids are $25. I think for the locals the price is pretty reasonable, and 90 minutes was a good ride to see the dam from a different point of view, and also get out on the water. Heads up, you do have to pay the national park recreation fee to get to the cruise, which is covered by the America the Beautiful Annual Pass if you have that. Overall, nice way to get out on the lake and see the water levels drop from a different perspective. Air-conditioning was nice, and I'm sure it's nice to sit out on the open top deck during cooler days.

The person who helped us and got us setup was Jamaica, she was a fantastic host and gave us all the needed information before the trek. Her hospitality was very appreciated and her greeting us when we ended was icing on the top. Also...probably one of the best drivers you will come across. I would be down to do this again, we were able to see a lot and still left some on the table. I would choose a few specific stops on your first trip so you are not rushing in time. We made good time but knew we couldn't mosey along. The first 4 miles is the biggest challenge, after that you just get into the rhythm and cruise. Bring plenty of fluids. The kayaks have spots for carrying a good amount of water and food, to include some bungees on the front for tie down. Water shoes I would recommend with good grip. Overall, a great day on the water, would definitely recommend and would like to enjoy again. Thank you Jamaica and your trusted sidekick for helping us along the experience! Until next time!

We rented a pontoon this past weekend for $570 from 8am-5:30pm gas included. They provide life jackets that you try on before getting into your boat so you have the correct size. We were limited on where we could go that day because of the higher winds. We went out about 45mins from the dock. The pontoons aren't very fast boats so plan accordingly when having to bring the boat back. My friend is always the "Captain" & I know in the past he has had to watch a video on boating rules but he mentioned something about having to take a 6hr on line course to drive the boat?? Not 100% sure on that so double check prior to renting. I have Verizon cell phone service & had no issues with getting service here or out on the lake. They have "real" bathrooms on the dock & their little store has all sorts of stuff. They are way over priced but that can be expected. Some items the store carries are: ice ($3.50/bag), snacks, loaves of bread, sunscreen, drinks, alcohol, soft coolers, t-shirts, sun shirts, prepackage snack foods in the fridge, some toiletries. I actually needed some visine & got a wicked small bottle for $5.00, I bought some Cheetos for like $7.50, double oatmeal cake for like $3.00 but I did get a nice fun shirt, long sleeve with hood for like $23.00 & it says Lake Mead on it. There are a lot of fish hanging around the docks but you can't feed them & I ran into a couple of friendly ducks. This marina is about 45min drive from GVR area. I can't wait to head back & have another boating day! TIP: bring a trash bag to collect all your trash in. No glass bottles allowed. Have fun!

I grew up in Vegas and have been on this river a ton by boat, and I've also hiked to both Gold Strike and Arizona Hot Springs. Those hikes are super rewarding but honestly brutal. This experience was completely different in the best way. Being able to get out of the river and be steps away from hot springs was amazing, and the views from the water are hands down the best. We met the team bright and early at 5:30am for launch, and everything was super smooth. They shuttled us, got us fitted for life jackets, handled waivers, and gave a quick safety rundown. Launch timing is strict because of the park service, but they made it feel easy and not stressful at all. Definitely be on time, though, because due to this strict timing, they will leave without you. The kayaks were such a game-changer. They were longer touring kayaks with foot-controlled rudders, dry storage, and actual back support. Super comfortable for me and somehow also worked great for my 6'2" husband (he had a larger boat). Since it was just the two of us, our guide Holmes customized the whole day to our pace. He took us to hidden spots I had never seen before, even as a local, and helped us avoid crowds. We did some hiking, rock scrambling, used ropes at Boy Scout Canyon, and explored hot springs that you can only get to from the river. It felt adventurous but still very safe, and he gave great tips the whole time. He also knew so much about the area. History of the Hoover Dam, plants, wildlife, etc. I learned a ton - even as someone who felt familiar with the area. This is exactly why I'm glad we didn't just rent kayaks. Having a guide made it feel like a next-level experience. We got to relax more while he handled the route and found the best spots. We got lucky with perfect early April weather. No wind, super glassy water, and we could see fish deep in the water. The 12 miles honestly felt way easier than expected, especially with how well Holmes guided us through the current so we could just float and chill a lot of the time. They also packed a great lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. You really just need a sun shirt, hat, sunglasses, swimsuit, water shoes, and sunscreen. They take care of the rest. Even though we leaned a little more adventurous, I could totally see this being doable for beginners, too. You don't need to be super athletic to enjoy it. Pickup and cleanup were easy and seamless. They handled everything while I grabbed a snack and relaxed, which honestly made it feel even more special. This was such a cool experience, and I would 100% do it again. Already recommending it to friends, and I would definitely consider doing the overnight version next time.

They provided a large trailer with ample shelves and space to put are gear onto. A safety speech was also given. They instructed you to move quickly as there was a time limit for getting everyone/everything Into the water and away from the area.
