I have been a member of the Andover gym for more than a year now and I have lost 30 pounds! There is not an athletic bone in my body, so working out is not something that I have ever looked forward to. Yet, I have come to love the 30-minute focused strength training, as well as the 30-minute cardio that follows. I am not motivated enough to do this on my own, so the key to my success has been the trainers. Jenna and Aaron offer challenging work-outs while listening to the member's "limitations", which often means knowing the difference between an exercise's level of difficulty and the clients willingness to challenge themselves - and there is a difference. I have experienced both situations in my time at GISFW and have been met with respect, understanding and patience. For many reasons, losing weight for me (at 51) has been a challenge. Both Jenna and Aaron have worked with me on switching up my diet and coming up with new food alternatives that are easily incorporated into my daily routine. I have been working out at GISFW for over 3 years now...it has been a fabulous addition to my health, fitness, and wellness regimen at the "young" age of almost 63! Jenna and Aaron are great motivators but more importantly they are wonderful individuals and really care about my success. I was diagnosed with a medical condition about 2 years in and thought I would have to leave but instead they have helped me modify the work-outs specific to my limitations. I can not imagine my life now without it. I have made many wonderful friends there who make the work-out days fun and, well, you know, "misery likes company"-Ha Ha! These training friends also help me stay motivated. But most importantly, my weight has been maintained overall and I feel stronger and have no joint or back pain due to the core work outs. Get in Shape for Women is the absolute best workout scenario I've ever experienced. The new owner Deb is warm and supportive and genuinely cares about her clients. She has surrounded herself with the best of the best trainers-the brightest star being her assistant Kristen who is athletic enough to actually BE a professional cheerleader, literally, but devotes her enthusiasm to support women who are starting from scratch, fighting the uphill battle of menopause. It is by all means an investment, but I decided to assess what I'm spending on poor health, paying people to do things I lack the energy for, and expanding my all-black frumpy wardrobe...and voila! When pondering the cost, even my doctor said, "If you have to sell the farm, sell the farm." (Fortunately I can keep it, and be much better help to my favorite farm hand! ;-) I needed a full-blown CRANE to get back up on the horse this time! If I can do it, trust me, you can!!!! read more

I love Get in Shape for Women! I joined last May after an appointment with my doctor. My blood pressure and cholesterol were both going up and lets not even mention the lack of exercise. I was worried about joining a "regular gym" because I was afraid of hurting myself and not really knowing what to do or how to do it. Well, this has been the best thing I have done for myself. The trainers, Aaron and Jenna are great at their jobs and they are also just really nice people. I was out on medical leave for a month and received emails to make sure I was sticking to my food blueprint and more importantly to make sure I was staying positive. Those emails got me through to the other side and back at the gym. I am stronger, fitter, healthier, and happier than I have been in years! I have had an excellent experience at Get In Shape For Women in Andover. The owner, Chris, took the time over the phone to explain in detail about the studio and what it had to offer. He then spent the remainder of our conversation finding out about me and my needs to begin a fitness/wellness program. From the second I walked into the studio and as I continue each personal training session with either Aaron or Jenna, I feel like a valued client. 5 years ago, I saw a survey that said women, on average, gain 1 pound for every year married. With our 25th anniversary less than a year away, I stepped on the scale and was surprised to see that I had indeed gained close to 25 pounds. Get In Shape For Women Andover. I LOVE it here! The owners are nice, the trainers are great and all the ladies who are members are so friendly. It is conveniently located in downtown Andover & has plenty of close parking no matter what time of day you are there. I joined this gym because I was not seeing results from other programs that I have been recently associated with but Get In Shape For Women is working for me. I have been a member at Get in Shape for almost 3 years now. Every session is challenging for me. I joined here because I wanted to go to a place where I felt committed and responsible for exercising on a regular basis. The trainers really do focus on the individual even in a group setting. They know your limitations and when to push you harder, especially if they know you like a challenge. Whenever I have a question about nutrition they are happy to discuss. I've lost 20 pounds in my first 4 months at GISFW and am excited to keep going and reach my goals. As a small business owner both time and money are precious to me and I waste neither here. The workouts are quick and effective, and the appointment times and weekly weigh ins keep me accountable. Aaron is a great trainer who also helps me with nutrition tips. I've been able to adapt my chosen vegetarian diet to fit the GISFW recommended nutrition guidelines and get results I haven't seen in many years. I have been a member at the Andover Get in Shape for two years. When I started, I had some physical limitations due to an injury, but Jenna and Aaron worked with me to strengthen my weaknesses and become stronger all over. If I am doing an exercise incorrectly, they stop me, show me again and stay with me until I have it right. They show an interest in your nutrition as well as who you are as a person.
