This has to be one of the most amazing churches in the RDU area. The experience from beginning to end was top notch. Its churches like New Hope who are leading the way for this new age church. New Hope is such a welcoming atmosphere. I was able to attend church in a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a beannie and NO ONE LOOKED AT ME AS IF I WAS OUT OF PLACE! I was floored. I actually feel as if I fitted right in. I love the multicultural attendance. There is an amazing ratio of nationalities represented at New Hope. The word from the senior pastor was great. He was detailed yet easy to follow. He was engaging yet full of substance. They offer so much! They have a really sweet looking children's church! It looked so cool I wanted to experience it for myself. Just a few tips, get their at least 15 minutes before service time to enjoy the time to mingle. They have a full service starbucks out front and it was pretty packed at the 10:45 service. Also get there early to take advantage of the best parking options. If anything, we were inspired by the amount of people. The problem for me was the community's lack of interest in greeting, welcoming, interacting.. it felt like it has in the past within a catholic service. Not good... not spiritual. There was a guest, a "prophetic woman" from Scotland, she was "prophetically", reading what God was telling her off of, what looked to be, a script she had wrote before the service. Lord forgive me if I am in the wrong, forgive her if she was not speaking of your word. We are not a religious family, we are Christian warriors who follow jesus, we were extremely disappointed in this church. We were hoping this was God's plan for us. I would encourage you to try it, make your own decisions, if it is God's plan for you to be there, you may be a light in the darkness, don't give up on God's direction, your own understanding will never be stronger than the Lorda plan. The church continually strives to be centered on Jesus (rather than around an individual pastor) and motivated by a mission to help people know God, grow together in community, discover their purpose and make a difference. I know a number of individuals who, when they first began to visit and come to King's Park, told me that what stood out to them the most was the warm and welcoming hospitality of the church, the diversity of the church (race, ethnicity, gender, political affiliation, socio-economic status and age), the dynamic worship, the Gospel-centered sermons and the down-to-earth leaders. Service starts at 10 and ends at 11:30. They have coffee and tea in the main entrance lobby and their kid's ministry uses an awesome material called Gospel Project. A big group of college students from UNC, Duke and North Carolina Central attend regularly. No matter one's religious background, whether one grew up in the church or is just checking church out for the first time, all are welcomed to come. The Sunday messages are presented in a way that whether one is not religious, is new to the church, or from another nation, everyone can understand the relevant messages. For the messages, they do both sermon series that go through books of the Bible (last year they went through Genesis) and sermon series cover topics such as relationships, relevance of faith in every day life, and hot topics such as politics, identity and racial reconciliation. The people I know who go to this church come from many different backgrounds- some grew up Christian, others didn't grow up religious and only recently became Christians, and others are undecided but open to finding out more about Jesus and the Bible. The church also has a over 50 different flags of nations represented in the church's makeup! I personally love this multi-ethnic church that seeks to be centered on the Gospel! I would highly recommend King's Park!

I give it four stars though because they're doing a lot of work to change that including the workshops, educating people about the racist history of the UU church and how they've worked to change that (and are still working). Today's worship was completely presented by POC and their rotating messages on their digital board, vwhich faces the road, include "black lives matter" and "love is love" with a rainbow background. I'm still an atheist, btw, but now I'm an atheist unitarian universalist and I'm not the only one!

I felt very hurt, that was our temple where we went every weekend for worship, but after that episode, we have completely stopped going there and instead go to HSNC where all the folks are always super super super SUPER friendly. unlike the money hungry donation collectors in the SV board!

Finally got there, although it wasn't to attend one of their meditation services (Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays). I came by on a Sunday afternoon, and it appeared to be deserted except for a couple of people doing landscaping to the already lovely gardens. They told me to feel free to wander around and to go inside if I wanted, which I did. The horses next door were very interested in what I was doing, and they kept me company for part of the stroll. After removing my shoes, I went inside the new dharma (meditation) hall. What a gorgeous, organic space it is! Bamboo floors, rich wood and glass walls, curved wooden ceiling, and an adobe-like back wall. Such a serene, harmonious setting, perfect for meditation, tai chi, and other spiritual pursuits. I will be back.

They're always looking for volunteers to help with the upkeep, so earn some karma points and help out!
