I really like the Getty Villa Museum Store, which IMHO is one of the best museum stores I've visited. It has a nice mix of books, reproductions of artifacts found in the Villa, and other souvenirs. Prices are reasonable. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The store is well-organized and kept neat. Plenty of space to move around and browse. It's located opposite the Auditorium. You can't miss it. I highly recommend visiting it on your visit to the Villa. read more

Not only that I love the Getty Villa (feels miles away from the city), but I enjoy the gift shop they have here. After each visit I like to check it out and hunt for gifts. It's not a huge store, but they have a great book selection, and nice gift ideas: home decor, accessories, etc. Decent prices, some on sale at times. They to tend to be picked around the theme of the museum: antiquity. Nice staff, nice shopping experince, if you visit the Villa, pop in! Great prices and good product selection. Excellent customer service skills by one stellar staff member (receipt number 123112 on 06/17/23 at 01:18 pm at store 200 on register 201 Emp 180) The rest of the staff in the store were absolutely worthless and lazy. We are regular visitors and usually spend at least $300.00 per visit. The Villa is our go to place for birthdays, anniversary, Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations. We moved to Kauai in 2018 and have not been back to our California home since the pandemic began. I so looked forward to visiting the Villa upon our return to normal life. The exhibits were fab as was the food. The docents were wonderful as well as the food service staff. I feel very sorry for the one male staff member we dealt with at the store because he is carrying the entire team. He was engaging, welcoming and professional. I would like to suggest the rest of the team be reoriented to their current job descriptions and then counseled and placed in positions of back office stocking or sanitizing the restrooms. They are not ready for prime time. They are miscast as the face of The Getty Villa. Remember, your staff can make you or break you! The Disney Institute has a wonderful curriculum your HR department may find useful for the substandard staff you currently employ. I will return to the Villa before I go back to Kauai on July 1,2023. I expect to see improvement. In fact as a community member I demand improvement. I have included a photo of the only staff member worthy of his compensation so that there will be no confusion as to which staff member is actually well suited to his position at the store. read more

It was a great day with my daughter. She made the reservations and obtained the parking pass within 24 hrs of our visit online. The parking limitation actually works well as a little benefit is the villa is not overcrowded. The limitations allowed for us to appreciate absolute beauty in serenity. Came here when my parents visiting me from Hong Kong. It's a MUST to trick them into a light brunch at One Pico WITH mimosa and a Bloody Mary. ( you know asian parents can be quite grumpy if they found themselves stuck in traffic for a few minutes) It is pretty the moment we made up to the pebble paved road. The anticipation is high. Parking is indoor, well ventilated and the ocean breeze is amazingly refreshing. It squeezes out smiles on your face. As seen in pictures many of you have posted, materials used withstand the time. Even the door jam is made of marble. Looking up the ceiling you will see other details. I truly wish we have abundance of rain and water is flowing in the fountains. You must print out the tickets to be let in for parking. They look and eye count heads in your car. read more

One of the best hidden gem is los angeles / malibu area. I like how they keep this place free along with the getty center off 405. Parking is only $15 and another thing about parking is that if you want to visit both villa and the center on the same day, you can get the validation from one of them and don't have to pay parking for the other site. Best to visit villa around 11:00-12:00 and just have a seat at the cafe and enjoy your coffee or tea. read more

Wow, I could've spent more time in this gift shop than in the museum! Usually museum gift stores are "touristy" knick knacks, but this had some amazing artwork stuff! From pocket angels, to notecards and postcards with Van Gogh and Monet, to beautiful colorful scarves to books and books on most of the artists and artwork that Getty collected, if my friend didn't drag me out, I would maxed out my credit cards! Not only that, but the employees were all so nice and helpful. One in particular was a blond Englishman, who I had a wonderful and witty conversation with, since I recently went to London on vacation and sold MINIs. So if you go to the Getty Museum, you must stay the whole day, eat at the restaurant and walk off your calories, shopping for Getty goodies! read more

I've never been too big a fan of musum bookstores. Who needs $5 pencils with LACMA engraved on it, or yet another $10 boring key chain? Seriously, who buys such things? Because stores are always overflowing with these useless trinkets. The Getty Villa museum store is a little different. Just a little. See, it still has the over priced and tacky stationary, but it also has a terrific selection of books. The books on art and history and art history were of course a no-brainer to find at a museum store. But travel books to Italy and Greece, a selection of love poems, and portable epic novels by Homer and philosophic works of Aristotle and Plato were such a pleasure to find here. I wasn't even bored while my mom took half an hour to choose the magnet that "perfectly captures our experience at the Villa." read more

I went to The Getty Villa in Malibu, with my wife Diana. One has to call and make a parking reservation, because of their limited parking. As you approach The Getty you drive through one of the two Roman archways, that takes you to a parking structure. As I approached The Villa, I stopped to see the 500 seat, outdoor classical theater, that was built to look like a Roman style amphitheater. Then I entered The Getty Villa where beautiful mosaic floors and many rooms of antiquites, were. Then you'll go to a manicured garden, like a courtyard surrounded by Roman columns. There were also more rooms, of statues. There is also a very large Roman pool, surrounded by the Villa also, with Roman columns. There are about 30 galleries at the Getty. There is soo much to see, 'A feast for the eyes'. It's beauty is beyond description. Diana and I were hungry, so we stopped at "The Café'. I ordered two turkey sandwiches with two lemonades. I sat outside so that we could enjoy the beautiful surroundings, of course they have great desserts, but we wanted, to see more, so we left. Then after a while, I stopped at The Getty Store, I bought a cool black cap with a nice print on it. Diana bought a book about the Getty with many pictures, we also bought a few smaller items, to give as gifts. That was the third time, of being there, with my wonderful wife Diana. Is it awful that I wanted to buy about $1,500 worth of stuff here? Granted, most of it was elaborate jewelery but there was also a nice selection of books. I have a rule about not buying books from anywhere except Amazon or a deeply discounted bargain bin so I had to pass on them. I wish they had some miniature replicas to purchase of anything in the museum, but alas, they did not. I settled for a $5 Etruscan inspired pig-shaped rattle that now lives on my bookcase. read more

WoW- what an AMAZING experience- before attending the museum, call ahead and be sure to make reservations (parking cost about $15). A cool fact I learned on the Garden Tour is that the outdoor sculptures are actually replicas-not the real deal. Each of the statues represents the daughters of a king that were turned to stone because they murdered the husbands that were chosen for them..Yikes!! I Also, I suggest visiting Rosenthal Wines (it's about 1 mile down PCH) before and/or after the museum visit....it's a perfect way to spend a Saturday! read more

The Getty Villa Museum Store is pretty much like any other museum store I've been to. They sell a lot of the same stuff they sell at other museums. I still went to walk through it though because I like seeing what kind of things they have. They were having a special sale on books on one table. All books for $5. I didn't see any books that I really wanted though. They have a nice selection of things for kids as well. I ended up buying a Pan Flute for my niece because she likes musical instruments. This was mostly because there was one kid walking around the Villa playing a Pan Flute everywhere and made me want to get one. Of course, when I gave it to her, she didn't want it. *sigh* read more

I am always excited to stop by the book store at least once a month hoping to find new jewlery and different kinds of art pieces for sale. So far I was able to get a couple of excellent books on the Getty Villa and the Getty Center. I was also able to buy an old style mask that I wore when I went to a performance by the Wondering Marionettes. They have a very nice selection of bracelets, earrings, necklaces that could make a perfect gift for a girlfriend. For kids they have a ton of books about the history and amazing toys. read more

Small museum store. Not a lot of variety, but has some jewelry, books, kids stuff, and some Getty memorabilia.

The Getty Villa is one of the best museums in the Los Angeles area; nested in Malibu, it's a great location for a day trip followed by a visit to the beach. Come visit to see some of the greatest architecture from ancient Rome and Greece and the artworks that accompanied them. Be sure to check out the store for a keepsake on the way out! read more

The gift shop exit..(well, not quite, its located underneath the cafe. Neat things related to the museum, bit pricey as expected but sometimes I found cool stuff and bargain coffeetable books. Since the museum is deducated to greco roman antiquities, this is a nice place to fond giftz and knickknacks for people who into antiquities. They also carry some replica of greco roman and egyptian jewelries. read more
