This is a no brainer place everyone should go to. Admission is free but parking is $25. I was here 10 years ago but seeing the European impressionist art exhibition is always a new experience. My favorite artists are Van Gough, Monet, Cezanne, Degas, and Rembrandt. Make sure to visit the Terrace cafe which has a great selection of light snacks and a large, expansive seating area which is cooled by the ocean breeze.

Perched on top of a hill right above the 405 freeway, the Getty Center offers outstanding views of LA with its amazing architecture, beautiful grounds, and an outstanding outdoor space. Entry is free, but parking is a flat $25 reservations for entry time need to be made online at Getty.edu. There is a trim that takes visitors up the hill to the Getty center. The main building once you first enter is the visitor center. There you can get a map and ask questions. There are a few separate buildings with different exhibits. Many are part of the permanent collection and are original artworks from legendary artists like Monet or Van Gogh. Some exhibits are themed and on rotation. They also hold evening events like small concerts and also have workshops for families and kids . There are several food and beverage options. There is a a bar with outdoor seating, a formal restaurant, two cafeteria and a few coffee carts. You can also pack a picnic and enjoy the outdoor space on their manicured lawn. As of May 2026, the center is in the process of slowly closing down and removing the collection. They will close for about a year and a half for renovations. Word is that they will redo some of the layout, install a new AC system, new floors, and new trams and more. The Getty Center is worth planning a day to tour for visitors and LA residents alike. It's peaceful very nicely, decorated and full of historical art. I can't wait to visit again once the renovations are done.

The Getty Center is a sprawling, impressive estate perched atop a hill. While admission is free, keep in mind that you need to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. They were fairly flexible with arrival times, but do have your tickets ready for the attendant upon entry. Be prepared for a security checkpoint where they thoroughly search all bags and backpacks; if you are carrying a backpack, note that they may require you to wear it on your front to protect the artwork. Getting to the museum requires taking a tram, and since there is an attendant managing the passenger count, you should expect a potential wait. While you can technically walk or take the bus, the hill is quite steep and not recommended unless you are in very good shape. Parking is $25, payable by credit card at the kiosks near the elevators. As for the experience, the gardens are absolutely beautiful and offer perfect photo opportunities. The art collection is subjective; while there are some spectacular pieces, the overall experience felt a bit underwhelming for me personally compared to other art museums I've visited. That said, for a free museum, it is hard to beat. My biggest piece of advice is to research the collection and plan which exhibits you want to see before you arrive. I ended up stumbling upon some famous works by chance, but a little pre-planning would have made for a much better visit. I would definitely go again now that I know what to expect. Security can be strict, especially with backpacks. They will ask you to wear them in the front to protect the artwork. Some security staff are overly cautious, but with millions of dollars in art, they have to be vigilant.

Super fun activity in LA! I took my friend from out of town here and we had such a nice time. It's free to get tickets, you just need to reserve a time in advance. Parking does cost money so try to go in just one car to cut down on costs. It's $25. This place does get quite busy. You have to wait in a long line to get through security, it almost feels like Disneyland. And then you have to wait in line to board the tram to the center. Once you're there, it's such a big space to explore and walk around. There are beautiful gardens, different flowers to look at, and a central garden to look at and take pictures of. Not to mention many different spaces within the museum itself to see artwork and sculptures. Great place to come on the weekend and out-of-towners love it!

This is a beautiful campus. I had some visitors come from outside the country so I was the designated tour guide. The daughter loves museums, so this was definitely on my list to take them. There are a variety of art pieces, paintings, photos and what not to look at and admire. The view is amazing a dm there are a few places to grab some snacks and food if you get hungry. As far as the tours, you can guide yourself, get audio devices for a guided tour and there are staff ready to answer your questions if needed. The staff is friendly and professional. Parking is easy and there is a tram that takes you from the parking structure to the museum. Definitely a great place to visit to appreciate art and the views. Great place to take photos also.

You don't have to be an art history buff to love the Getty Center. Beyond world-class masterpieces like Van Gogh's Irises and Monet's Still Life with Flowers and Fruit, the entire campus is a visual treat. The modern architecture, scattered sculptures, beautiful central gardens, and incredible LA city views make for a perfect day out. - Admission is free, but you must reserve a time slot online. - Parking costs $25. - Important: They are closing for a massive 1-year renovation starting March 15, 2027, so go experience it now while you can!

I never really know how to write reviews for museums because I'm not someone who can effortlessly analyze art and start speaking in poetic paragraphs but I do love the Getty & just wanted to share my experiences so far. I've visited the Getty several times over the years and at first I found it a little overwhelming because there are so many exhibits and paintings that it's hard knowing where to even begin. Eventually I decided to make a game out of my visits instead. I started using ChatGPT to give me lists of paintings to look for, questions to ask myself while observing them, facts about the artwork, and prompts about what I do and don't like about each piece. Weirdly enough, that completely transformed my experience at the museum and made each visit feel much more intentional instead of me just wandering around aimlessly pretending to understand everything. Highly recommend trying this if you're someone who enjoys museums but doesn't necessarily feel "educated" in art. As a huge Van Gogh fan, I was shocked to learn that his painting Irises is actually displayed here. I had seen some of his work at MoMA in New York City and somehow never realized one of his paintings was practically in my own backyard. If you love Van Gogh, definitely don't miss it. I also personally enjoy exploring the North Pavilion the most because it's where many of the religious paintings are located. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and probably one of the most photographed parts of the museum for good reason. Great spot for pictures, especially if you enjoy Instagram-worthy scenery. There are also several areas throughout the Getty where you get gorgeous views overlooking Los Angeles. The Getty also has two restaurants, several cafés/coffee carts, and recently added a lounge bar around the plaza level. The food is decent but definitely expensive (which honestly shouldn't surprise anyone at this point). The café areas sell salads, sandwiches, pita and dip plates, pastries, snacks, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. Personally, I don't think the salads are worth the $18-$19 price tag, so I usually just grab coffee, snacks, or occasionally a small bottle of champagne and save my actual appetite for afterward. One thing I appreciate is that they have charging stations in the entrance hall in case your phone is dying halfway through your visit. There are also multiple gift shops throughout the museum with a pretty wide variety of books, souvenirs, stationery, art prints, and gifts. I think weekdays are probably best if you want smaller crowds, but I usually go on Saturdays because the museum stays open until 9 PM and parking becomes free after 6 PM on Saturdays specifically. Otherwise, parking is usually around $25, though reduced rates kick in later in the afternoon. A few tips in case you plan to visit for the first time: - Bring a sweater or coat because it can get surprisingly cold and windy. - Download the Getty app beforehand so you have the map available. - Wear comfortable shoes because you will walk a lot. - And don't pressure yourself to "understand" every piece of art. Some aren't going to stand out to you and that's okay. - Be ready for traffic. The downside of the museums location is that it's smack next to one of the worst freeways known to man -- the dreaded 405.

We visited the Getty Center again today, and it never disappoints. This isn't our first time here, and we truly love coming back. The entire place is stunning - from the beautiful gardens to the incredible art collection. The paintings were especially impressive. Some of them are over 300 years old, while others are valued at more than $200 million, which makes the experience even more fascinating. You really feel the history and significance behind each piece. The grounds are large and very well maintained, with breathtaking panoramic views of Los Angeles. You can even see the 405 freeway from above, which adds to the unique perspective of the city. Admission is free, but you need to reserve tickets in advance on the website. Parking is located at the bottom, and from there you take a modern automated tram up to the center -- a fun experience on its own. Parking costs $25, or $15 if you arrive after 3 PM. Also worth mentioning: during the summer, the Getty Center hosts free concerts on Saturdays, which makes the visit even more special. Highly recommend visiting -- whether it's your first time or not, it's always an amazing experience.

Visited the Getty Museum again, it never fails me. It's looked prettier than my last visit in winter as this time around there were lot of flowers blooming and weather was perfect. Shoutout to the staffs, they're all so amazing and helpful. We entered at 3pm, the parking fee is $15.

This is THE place to take out-of-state people that might be visiting you. I've been to the Getty a handful of times since moving from Florida to SoCal in 2019, and it's been a great experience every single time. The architecture itself is a work of art, the central counts in in the court of the Getty Center is gorgeous, even the tram station both in the parking lot and the one at the Musem itself are great. There are maps in the Visitors Center, different pavilions with exhibits and there's even a central garden that is a must-visit. 10/10

A visit to the Getty Center is always a fun and enjoyable experience. You have the gardens and the indoor museum/art gallery. Parking per car was $25. P5 has charging for free at least that was the experience. There's some on P1 but it's harder to get to. Recommend bringing your snacks and water. They sell it here, but it's more pricey. Also bring sunscreen. The outdoor portion can get pretty hot. Like during March! Overall it was a nice experience and fun thing to sight see. Some exhibits are permanent while some are on rotation so they will always change. Highly recommended LA bucket list place! There's the Villa in Malibu too which can all be done in one day if planned carefully.

The Getty Museum is an experience that people of all ages can enjoy. There are standard collections, rotating collections, gardens, views of the city, plenty of dining options, and a museum store. Entry is free, but parking is $25. Make reservations in advance, go through a bag check, and then take a less than a minute tram ride up and down to the museum. Depending on how much of a history buff you are, you can spend practically the entire day reading about each historical artifact in the museum, or spend a couple of hours strolling through the museum, taking in the historical wonders of the world. I like to come here every year or two to experience the wonderful world of art and appreciate the beautiful structure and the surrounding LA city! I hope you do, too!

Yesterday, my whole family visited the Getty Center for the first time in a while. Even though I've been there dozens of times over the years, I still absolutely love it every single time I go. Strolling through the stunning gardens and admiring the vast collection of sculptures and artworks is the definition of a "healing time." I also had an Americano from the outdoor cafe, and it was delicious. Between the breathtaking views, the pleasant walks, the incredible art, and the magnificent architecture, you could easily spend the entire day there and never get bored. It's truly a place that's wonderful no matter when you visit. Note : The parking fee is currently $25, but it's $15 after 3 PM and $10 after 6 PM. We made an online reservation for 11:30 AM, so we were able to fully enjoy the Getty Center all day long.
