I was very happy with my son in law's recommendation. My son in law recommended the value pack of tickets and it was well worth the price. I believe it was 62.50 per person. That entitled us to the battlefield tour in an air conditioned bus, and visits to three other tours-museums. I thought the price was great. Paul Bausermann was our tour guide and in a word- PHENOMENAL!! He was likable, entertaining, engaging, incredibly smart, had a great sense of humor and his timing was impeccable. I don't think anyone could hold a candle to his enthusiasm, vigor, and story telling. I learned so much about cannons, the battle, and those who fought. So many interesting facts- interesting that The Military Academy used to have seniors spend three weeks on the battlefield in order to graduate. Now they don't- what a stupid decision on their part!! Unfortunately I can't recall the name of our bus driver but he was excellent too! He did walk with a crutch and looked ultra professional in uniform- thank you!! He had been a driver for I think he said 50 years or so starting in the 1970's. They made a great team!!! As someone in the safety department, I appreciated his very safe driving! It's not easy maneuvering a bus that size into parking areas or along the road, but he made it seem pretty easy. I highly recommend this touring company. They are wonderful. I especially appreciate the abundant FREE parking!! It is nothing like the mess we have in Jim Thorpe, the money grab, congestion and parking nightmares in Jim Thorpe thankfully are not the case in lovely Gettysburg. I would definitely go on another tour with this company. They don't ask for tips but please do tip if you enjoyed the tour- I tipped both and they really appreciated it. We got this tour from Groupon and we were glad we chose it. We're from California so coming to Pennsylvania and the summer is a little bit of a climate change for us. It's really humid so I am glad we chose to do the air conditioned bus. The guy was very knowledgeable and he was easy to understand and we stopped and saw some really incredible sites. It was super educational and very humbling. With that being said, there are so many different types of tours one could do and I might've limited myself by just looking at what Groupon had. Third time here in Gettysburg, but it's been a while. Only had a 1/2 day so we decided to do a double-decker bus tour this time. Although we saw a lot of the history (battlefields), I really didn't enjoy it. The drive was disorienting and too fast. But it's not the bus/tour company's fault. It is what it is. You can only pack so much into 2 hours. My suggestion.... Spend the full day in Gettysburg, and do the self-driving tour. read more

In concept this could be a great tour. In reality it lacks in its finish. The tour bus is what it is. An open top double decker. We sat on top and had a good view. It was a little scary at some of the trees and street signs. Phil was our tour guide. He seemed knowledgeable and almost never stopped talking. Maybe too much talking. While it was a moving bus tour, we never seemed to stop and a lot of the memorials were just blurs. We saw a lot of Memorials for a lot of different groups. We learned about how the 2 sides would use the terrain to change their strategy etc. Since there were only 1 stop for just a few minutes it was hard to actually see what was happening. The tour was overall good, our guide was very knowledgeable but gave so much information that I lost track of history here and there. I feel like he told us the history to just say it, but not really keep us engaged. It didn't help that there was a motorcycle rally while we were on the double decker bus, because it was hard to hear our guide. We got rained on, from the top deck, but they provided us free ponchos to continue the tour. What I did appreciate about the tour company, was that they kindly rolled us over to the next tour when we were running late from an emergency. They were very accommodating and nice enough to let us join the next tour. They also have a really great gift shop with souvenirs of Gettysburg with small snacks, and clean restrooms. I had such a great time on this tour. Mask are strictly enforced! We purchased tickets for the double decker and sat on top to enjoy the nice view (top or bottom seats are designated on your tickets). Gettysburg is such a nice small town and it definitely felt like we were going back in time by just being there. The tour guide, Jim, was very knowledgeable and told us tons of facts about the battle and the city. Connie was an excellent driver! Arrived at the bus tour for the 6pm double decker bus tour. Got there 15 minutes early. Our group missed our bus because there was no communication telling anybody that they changed the tour bus. The clerk was no help. She just shrugged her head like oh well! I will never buy anything affiliated with this company again. The lack of communication with the people that missed the bus because they were so inept is truly the last straw for me. read more

Well-spoken tour guide that knew a TON about various battles, key players, dates, etc. I've been to Gettysburg National Park multiple times, but never learned as much as I did on this two-hour tour. Was very disappointed in this tour. First and most important you don't get off the bus except one time to see the sites. The bus goes rather fast so it's a waste of money. Pointed out bullet holes in buildings but we went to fast to see . Save your money and doWnload the app and go yourself. That's what we wound up Doing . The other bus tours seem to stop and tell the stories of monuments . One thing positive I have to say the bus driver took those sharp turns like a pro. read more

Horrible. A goofy recording of actors yelling at each other while the driver drove aimlessly around the battlefield. No one had a clue what we were looking at, and the so-call tour guide just flirted with the driver, never giving out any info, or talk, nor points of interest what-so-ever. Absolutely nothing. We stopped three times: First had no idea where we were until we read the signs. Then stopped once again so they could sell chips and drinks. The third stop we all determined it was at Pickets charge,, but not until everyone on the bus eventually figured it out on our own. The so-called guide was a big dopie idiot that said nor pointed out nothing. This is simply a cattle call with indifferent employees, and a ridiculous attempt at a tour. As bad as it gets and they are well aware of it. Avoid this, yet another,, Gettysburg tourist trap business. read more

We sat up top on a sunny day and enjoyed the unique view of everything! I am not usually one to do "touristy" things, but this was a good way to get -literally- an overview of the key sites of the battle. The bus goes thru town, and thru open fields and thick forest - and yes it is a bit frightening when you go under traffic lights and utility lines! Sometimes a tree branch gets friendly. But you get to see everything from a grand height. Not often can you drive thru a town and look at the second stories directly. In town, our guide pointed out cannonball and bullet scars on buildings, and relayed some interesting stories from those fateful days in July 1863. In the surrounding fields and forests, he showed us numerous monuments (it's the most marked battlefield in the world) and tried to help us visualize the troop movements and lines. Yes it moves fast, as others have said, but there was a lot going on during the battle, with tens of thousands of people doing things! Bottom line: if you're here to do doctoral research on Chamberlain, then maybe this is too broad a tour for you. But if you're here to get a sense and catch a glimpse of these men who made history at Gettysburg, then it's well worth your time. read more

Did this tour with the Scouts. WOW.... did not expect the tour to be that in-depth and long. They even stop 1/2 way for a bathroom/snack break. The tour guide is very passionate about the history. Seen things that we would have missed for sure. I recommend sitting on the top, you will see lots you will miss from the ground. We took the double decker bus tour and chose the top which offered great views of the battlefield...and how often do you get to be about a foot away from a traffic light?! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable as he was a licensed battlefield guide so he knew just about everything you could want to know and he also mixed in some humor which made the tour that much more enjoyable. They offer a 15 min or so break in the middle of the tour to use a restroom or grab a drink and they also make a stop at Little Round Top where you're allowed to exit the bus. read more

Had the pleasure to take this bus tour of the battlefield of Gettysburg this last weekend! Now we were there on a cold January Saturday afternoon. Up side to this was no big crowds - only 11 people on the bus, no leaves on trees made the battlefield easier to see. Down side was of course the cold and only one stop to walkabout at the Round top which was amazing but short lived due to chilly wind threatening to freeze my face off. Bus is very comfortable, huge oversized windows everywhere make for excellent visibility. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and would stop the recording of the tour when appropriate to point things out. How this works is there is a recording which is first person narrated to be at that point in time, during the battle. At first this seemed hokey but if you listen its actually quite effective. This with the driver's additions made for a wonderful tour. Two hours long, one stop for the restroom half way through. The battlefield is so enormous - I had NO idea of course how huge this place was so taking a tour like this is essential to understanding and getting the most out of this historic site. In places you see the damage to the original buildings, most of which still stand, including a cannon ball wedged into an upper portion of a brick barn. The best part of the tour was the pause to experience last charge of day three by the confederates. Of note the tour is extremely unbiased pro Union or Confederate which is much appreciated. Overall, highly recommend this bus tour - you will not regret it! read more

This is the best way to start of your tour when you get here. For $43 (adult price) you are given a 2 hour tour of the entire battlefield with stops at Devil's Den, Little Round Top and other spots where you deboard and are able to wander. It's a great way to see all the sites before coming back later in your car for further exploring. The guide was knowledgeable and fun. Expensive, glad we took the tour. Want to make sure the tour I am referring is the one where tickets are purchased from the Gettysburg Visitors Center operated by the National Park Service. The battlefield is too large to get a good perspective without a guide. Informative two hour tour with tour guide commentary was perfect! There are three or four stops and opportunities to get off the bus to hear commentaries highlighting key battles during the three day engagement in 1863. Interestingly, the tour does not stop at the location nearby where Lincoln made his famous speech. The location of Lincoln's speech is at the Soldier National Cemetery adjacent to the battlefield which can be explored on your own for free. read more

Took a Double Decker Bus tour on our trip. My husband, kids (6,4 and 1), and myself all enjoyed this! We were hesitant taking young kids, but we purchased top seating. The kids wore their headphones and listened attentively to the guide! They remembered quite a bit and even reiterated what they learned while we were exploring on our own. We enjoyed this tour a lot! We were able to get on last minute, buying tickets just about 10 minutes before the bus boarded to leave. Unfortunately we were there on Day 1 of the government shut down and many roads were closed as well as monuments, battle fields etc. This altered the tour route greatly! However, our guide and bus driver did an excellent job rerouting the tour and still providing us with a great deal of information and sites to see! We took a battlefield tour with Gettysburg Battlefield Tours. We were supposed to be on the double decker but it was a rainy day today so we had an enclosed bus. Our driver was Connie and our tour guide was Dave. Connie is an extra safe driver and usually drives the double decker bus. Dave was an excellent tour guide and was a wealth of information and talked for nearly two hours straight and spoke loud and clear. His narrative brought the empty fields to life. He also answered our questions. Bottom line if you are booking this tour be sure to get on Dave's bus.There was a nice break midway for the toilet and coffee and snacks. read more

This is a two hour tour of the Gettysburg battlefields which were much larger than we expected. Our tour guide did an excellent job of explaining the events that took place in Gettysburg. It was a hot day on Saturday, so we really wished either of the two fans on the bus were in working condition, but they weren't! Other than that it was an excellent experience. read more

I loved this tour- it was my favorite of all the things we did while in Gettysburg. The driver was Charlie, but I can't remember the tour guide which is unfortunate because he was awesome. He told me he had been giving tours for 27 years and you could tell, he was quite knowledgeable. He did talk a bit fast but there was so much info to absorb I don't think him speaking slower would have helped my comprehension any. Their website says buy tickets 24hrs in advance but we didn't and it wasn't a problem. I called in the am and they put my name on a list and we had no issues. Fantastic trip here! I don't know if this is the type of business that checks Yelp regularly, but we had a great time. Christine was our guide and Charlie drove the bus- both were very courteous and knowledgeable. Christine said at the beginning that she was suffering from allergies, but came through like a champ. She made the tour very enjoyable and gave us some ideas for places to go back and explore on our own. My one qualm is that the bus didn't stop to visit Devil's Den, but we were planning to go back that way anyways. Overall, it a great experience with plenty of interesting stories and history that really enhanced seeing the battlefield. For the 150th anniversary they really came through, even during a very busy tourist season. I was really impressed by it all! read more
