We did the Museum of Haunted Objects guided tour and Dominick was our guide. The objects within the building were absolutely fascinating. The collection was vast and unique which made the experience even better! Dominick was fantastic! Really enjoyed our tour, "East Cemetery Hill". We lucked out - the weather was ideal for a stroll into town and back up Cemetery Hill, which included stops at the Jenny Wade House and notorious Orphanage. I always enjoy the "hidden" history and storytelling, and Trinity was a terrific guide. His sharing was very heartfelt and engaging. My daughter & I had a great time! First night we did a tour and our guide was funny and very entertaining. The walk was not too long but kept us intrigued. The second night we did a ghost investigation. That was the best! The money you pay goes towards their rents of the buildings that you get to investigate. One was an old school house, the second was a residential house. It was a few hours and you carry a recorder with you. We're still waiting on the transcripts to be emailed to us. But we had a wonderful time. They even gave us a certificate stating we hunted with the paranormal group. Had our names on them and we did a group shot together. read more

Brian was the guide we went with last night for the Xtreame Ghost hunt. I walked into the night as a skeptic but I left with confirmation that there are ghosts. There were EVP's I think that's the right term that I could not explain away and it was such an incredible experience. If you are wanting a respectful experience this is the group to go with. My biggest concern about doing a tour was the respect aspect and one of this crews biggest rules are you don't antagonize the spirits. I hate to say it, but this was not one of the better ghost tours I've ever taken. I took the one they market as the "original black cat tour". It was exactly 52 minutes long. Super short and not as thorough as any of the other cities I've visited to do these tours. I really wanted to love it, because Gettysburg is so rich in paranormal activity and history. But we barely scratched the surface of the surface of what this town has to offer. This company offers quite a few different tours, so maybe others are better. I would say scrap this one, or combine it with a different tour. Cater it more to an adult audience. (Or simply just market this one as a children's tour, since it is very short with silly/campy humor and may be good for kids who get bored or have a short attention span.) But I wouldn't recommend this tour for adults who are interested in learning the macabre history (and a little bit more thorough view of such) of Gettysburg. I consider myself a historian and while I am not an expert, I do travel pretty extensively and this was probably about my 50th ghost tour. I hate to bill it as one of the most disappointing ones, but with some work, I think that it can be improved. If I had known of the scant content, I would have perhaps picked another one from this company. Just work on marketing things as what they really are. read more

GEEEEZZZZ What's really frightening about this tour and scary is the amount you're going to pay for nothing. When people say talk is cheap, well this talk is not cheap at &10 ea. But you're gonna pay for cheap talk. Remember it's all a story and what's really scary is the people, that are telling you the stories. (This visit was made during the times of Covidious earlier this month. When things return to a look of normality - your experience likely will vary.) First, a bit of context: No such thing as ghosts or any of that spooky mumbo-jumbo. Now that's out of the way, let me continue. If you've ever been to Colonial Williamsburg and done any of the various incarnations of their "Official" Ghost Tour that they've been offering forever, think of The Black Cat tour here as more or less the exact same idea. No, you're not going to see any funny lights, orbs, probes, ghosts, ghouls, kitchen appliances or apparitions but if you're lucky you'll get a guide who's a great story teller who will also give you some wiki-style Gettysburg town/battle trivia/facts. Thankfully for us, we got that. So the set up is that you make a reservation via their website although you can also buy their never ending Groupon offer and then call them or I guess you could roll the dice and just show up but from what our guide (Major Finn) told the group, they get obnoxiously packed during summer and in particular fall. For our tour at 6pm on a Saturday night in February we had a dozen people which he said was pretty darn good for February. The tour of course is all walking which right now with the conditions of the sidewalks, roads, and alleys in PA that made it a bit interesting with maybe 1/2 of the walk especially up by the cemetery and the orphanage being on snowy roads with an ice coating. Our guide Major Finn took us on a bastardized box loop. We started by going behind the office where you pick up your tickets, down behind a storage building near a small stream/embankment, somewhat near the Rupp House, stopped in the parking lot of the mini-mart across the street from the 1863 Inn, across from the Jennie Wade House then wrapping around the orphanage near part of the gate to the cemetery finally finishing back on Steinwehr Avenue maybe 1/2 block from where we started. All of that in about 65 minutes. The good Major is an amazing storyteller and knows his stuff as he'll tell you about how he is a retired history teacher from Maine. Also, mask/traffic and all, his voice carries really well and no one had any trouble hearing what he was saying at any point on the tour. It was fun and seeing as it's winter with a pandemic going on I need to give credit where credit is due that these tours are rolling on twenty degree nights in winter. That takes some stones. I'm not sure that we would ever need to do this again or to do one of their other tours but all things considered this was a good time. read more

Do not recommend. My friends did the 3 hour ghost tour another night and they said it was even worse as far as disorganization. They said it was a group of 40 people they split up into 3 groups, took them to random locations the tour guides barely knew about. Basically too many people for a ghost hunt. 2 part review. Have been wanting to do one of these for a long long time. Last night I finally did one and it was a lot of fun. We started by taking a tour of the Haunted Objects museum given by Ginger. Have some great objects with a ton of history. Only thing I would ask is to allow 1 picture of the first item. But I understand not wanting people to now what's inside. Was cool being surprised going into each room. After we finished the tour Ginger asked if we were doing one of the ghost tours and as it turned out the one we were doing she was giving We headed outside to begin the Haunted Field Hospital Walk. Was amazed at how many different buildings in such a small area were hospitals. Ginger definitely knew her history and adding in the ghost stories with it was great. We had one member of our group who was highly intoxicated who could barely stand and definitely got way to close to her ( even falling into me after tripping on Penelope, a cannon sticking out of the sidewalk) amazing the cannon had great history that Ginger knew all about. I've been on a lot of ghost tours. This one was disappointing. Trying to book online was confusing. It was hard to tell which tour was when. Online it said we needed to book 24 hrs in advance. The price lists $7-13 online and the hours didn't make sense so we walked over there the first night in Gettysburg. We were quoted a price of $15/person and told we can just pay right then and there. We decided we'd come back the next day. Luckily I found a Groupon deal so I bought that to save a few bucks. The woman at the counter said she couldn't take the Groupon so I had to call. Bonnie was super nice on the phone and took the info. We scheduled the 7:30pm haunted house tour with George. George was very nice and dressed the part. You could tell he liked history and telling stories. Unfortunately it was difficult to follow along with his stories. They seemed to jump all over the place and often felt incomplete. He also kept debunking ghosts and other worldly phenomena which to us is the opposite of what you want on a ghost tour. We are literally paying you to tell us ghost stories and scare us! We only ventured 3 houses down from where we bought the tickets and stayed on the main road which was boring. More standing than I'd like. We didn't go into any houses, just outside of them. We saw other tours that looked like they were walking to more areas and going inside places. And they had large groups. It was only four of us on our tour. We were gracious for George's time and tipped him which brought the price to around the total had we not gotten a Groupon and bought direct but I would not recommend this tour. Looking for something different to do while in Gettysburg we looked to Groupon for options. We found the Gettysburg Ghost Tours at a price of 2 tickets for $9, a total savings of $11 vs booking thru the website or in person. So if you're planning on taking a tour check Groupon first. However you still need to book your tour with Ghost Tours personally to reserve your spot. Once you get there you present your Groupon and exchange it for your actual ticket. The tour starts downtown in the middle of everything. Arrive 15 minutes early, dress for the weather, and wear comfortable shoes. Convenient and free parking after 4:30 pm can be found behind their location at the medical facility parking lot. Street parking is available but is limited and metered. The back part of your ticket (the piece you keep) gives you discounts to the various vendors listed and doesn't expire so it's worth hanging on to. Our tour was called Black Cat and lasted about an hour or so and involved some walking. It is my understanding that each guide (dressed in period clothing) gives their own unique spin on the tour so no two tours by different guides would be the same. Though not at all scary in nature and no ghosts were encountered it was more of a historical overview of several Gettysburg landmarks in a few blocks radius. Groups consisted of about 15 people and we were lead by candlelight. When we stopped to discuss a particular place everyone gathered around and we could hear the guide perfectly. Our guide in particular was a southerner and had a charismatic personality that was perfect for being in character. Children and folks not interested in history would find the tour boring. I'm by no means a history buff but enjoy hearing about true tales & urban legends and learning more about the areas we visit. Nothing we heard about during the tour I knew beforehand and probably wouldn't have. I did enjoy it and found the experience unique and just the right length of time and walking. I wouldn't recommend this tour for someone with limited mobility as we did go thru stone alleyways and up a steep hill. We were encouraged to take pictures along the way even if we didn't "see" anything. We were told that more often than not folks are surprised to go home and find orbs or cloudy figures in the pictures they took on tour. You are not allowed to videotape anything. Tips were also recommended at the end of the tour. So while this is called "ghost" tour I think the name is really misleading. It's more of a interesting historical tour. If you know that going in you won't be disappointed. read more

Although it is handicap friendly, the graveyard portion can be difficult to navigate, as it does take you through a gravel area. The tour guide and office staff are very friendly. My son was using the bathroom around back and we got left behind, they were flexible and let us join the next tour. The starting point is easy to find, right on Main Street. First off outstanding experience. My girlfriend (who didn't want to go initially) and I went on the Extreme Hunt tour with the guide, Brian. I highly recommend Brian. He is knowledgeable and sincerely passionate about the paranormal and this comes through in his tour. He also drops a few dad jokes here and there that will actually illicit a giggle for good measure. We hunted at the old school and the field hospital and had genuine paranormal experiences and interaction at both. My initially hesitant girlfriend even got really into it and had a great time. The entire staff that we interacted with were pleasant and down to earth folks. While we live in SC, we will be visiting her family there once or twice a year and I can guarantee that this tour will be a "must do" on the itinerary every time I am in the area. My only suggestion, and I say suggestion because it isn't really a complaint, but more a "man I wish this was available" is this; I'd love the opportunity to be able to hire private, small, extended tours in which you can pick the location(s). These guys get busy and the groups can be quite large. In a small location that can make things a little tough and cause quite a lot of evidence contamination as I experienced. The time also FLYS by. It would be incredible to be able to book a private tour for maybe 5 people, pick your guide and location(s) and extend the hours of investigation. We did the candlelit historical "bloody cemetery" tour. George was our guide, and he said he has only been here about 3 years. He is amazing! He is very informative and passionate about these tours and the history behind Gettysburg. George states he is a Gettysburg local, pointed out the best restaurants in town and also is a alumni/former at Gettysburg College. It worth every penny to get a tour with George! He even added a few extra minutes to the tour because it was loud due to traffic for about 10 minutes. Definitely recommend!! Great job!! read more

This place puts on a good show and that is really the take away here: a show. I've taken the walking tour and been unimpressed. The guide looked good and told a good spiel but for 'ghost hunting' there was a lot to be desired. At one point we were led down a slope towards a stream where we were told many men drowned "If you hurry and take pictures we've gotten lots of 'orbs' down here." Naturally people got the cameras out and there were a regular sea of flashes going off with people oh-ing and ah-ing over the images. I checked my phone. yup. orbs. BUT you just had a dozen people walk down a dusty gravelly trail. how much did we kick up? After the tour was done I walked back to the same spot, carefully walking only on the grass verge to not disturb anything and-nothin'. While the walking tour was forming up a second group was off to their own investigations' which from the sight, seemed to be a lot of people running around a darkened house with infrared scopes and the like. From outside we could hear the bangs and screams of fun and any real ghost would have checked out long ago just to get away from them. This does deliver fun. No question. We originally book a 7 pm tour. We finished dinner early so we figured we would ask if we could get into the 6pm tour. Two 6pm black cat tours were going out. I'm not sure what the difference is in the hour walking tours. Their website was sort of complicated to navigate on a phone. We ended up getting "spooky" as a guide. She was engaging and animated! All in all the tour was just perfectly 55 mins. Nothing too scary about it but these walking tours never are. A good opportunity to learn some history with some interesting stories. I really enjoyed it. We took the "East Cemetery hill" tour! It lasted just about an hour, several locations and an exclusive area in the back of the orphanage! The guide was colorful and expressive! Side note we were not aware of: -It's an out door walking tour as described. -they do not go out on the battlefield or inside cemeteries. Those are federal property. No ghost company does that. They all said that when we searched around. -they have ghost hunts that go inside with equipment! We took one the next day, with a lovely lady ghost hunter in a haunted object museum! My husband and I did not know what to expect, other than we would be using equipment to detect a paranormal presence at different historical locations in Gettysburg. We had a wonderful experienced with a well-organized group tour leader. We got to go to two separate locations to try to find paranormal activity and were free to walk around the houses independently or in groups. There was a lot of history in the two locations and our tour guide, Bobbi did a great job explaining everything from the history at the locations to the details of how to use the equipment in the bags. The bags were packed full of many different items to use, and Bobbi did a great job making sure everyone was having the best experience during the hunt. My 5 year old daughter was enamored on this tour. NOT SCARED, but very interested. Our tour guide was very interactive, tied in history and 'here say', asked us to take pictures to help support ghost data. He also gave us information regarding downtown during the war. This is scam central. If you're too stupid to see past a gimmick then I can understand how this place is still in business. I only went because I had to once and for all show my friend how ridiculous he sounded and why we all made fun of him back home. Not only did he feel foolish for the time and money spent at these tours, but we both couldn't believe the lack of anything. You put people in a dark room and claim that items fly at you and it's all "haunted". Atleast put some effort in it and hook up some fishing line and make things fly. I've been more fearful of my own reflection this tour was boring and the tour was way too long. Shorten the tours if you're going to lack so much detail. There should be an age restriction. 12 years or younger only since that's the most naive clientele. Very expensive for a walk through 3 small rooms. I give props to our tour guide whom we finally got to go off the storyline path for a bit with our jokes. I understand it's his job, tipped him because I felt sorry for him. My brother and I took the 7:00 PM Black Cat Tour along Steinwehr Avenue with Cedric Whittaker. It was just the two of us, and Cedric did a great job. Dressed in a Union soldier uniform and carrying a candle in a lantern, he told some very interesting and informative tales while being entertaining and personable at the same time. As he said, he wasn't trying to necessarily make us into paranormal believers, but to make us maybe think twice about the stories he told. Interesting fact shared----the fence around the cemetery across the street was actually the fence that surrounded the White House in Washington, D.C. at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg. Also, look for the outline of President Lincoln in the spotlight shining on the Dobbin House.....nothing I would have ever noticed until Cedric pointed it out. My boyfriend and I did the BlackCat tour last Saturday and had a good time! If you are looking to see an actual ghost and be spooked out, chances are that will not happen during the tour. However, it is fun learning about different stories and history of the Civil War. There is more standing than walking (which was fine). You will walk a few blocks and then listen to a story or two of nearly establishments, their role in the war and who haunts it. It can be a little distracting with all of the cars driving by so going to the back/side of buildings was easier to pay attention. Guides are very knowledgeable of the history. The only downside was that the tour ended 10 minutes early... Overall, fun learning experience and stories you wouldn't hear form your history books! Shout out to Dan in the quilted skirt!
