Went on a trial ride for my birthday weekend and loved every second of it. Thank you to Guy, Ally and Gavin for a great ride. Very beginner friendly! Was paired with Copper and he was the sweetest! My friend was paired with Goose! My friend hasn't ridden horses much and I haven't in a couple of years and we had no problem! Very easy to book! Fredericksburg is not only know for great wine and shopping but also it's beautiful landscape. We had a great time with Guy at the GF Ranch. The horses are well tempered and gentle for any rider experience or not. Highly recommend taking the short drive out of town to get way and enjoy Gods country. read more

We left with a greater understanding and appreciation for what it takes to be a steward to this beautiful place. Patrick's staff is also very friendly and happy to show you around. Aaron and Nathan both helped to show us a great time. Our weekend flew by - filled with hunting and horseback adventures. There are so many other activities that I would love to partake in on our next visit as well as a new hobby that I would love to explore deeper! We can't wait to return!

Lots of things to look at, deer trails and the view is beautiful. This would have been nice to have the small group (like we did at the fallen tree) gather at the top to get a few photos. 3) And speaking of vistas one side of the hill over looked an area with homes, some very beautiful homes, however I think, I don't know this for sure, but if we could have gone to the other side of the mountain if just a bit, I'm sure there would have been a beautiful untouched vista. Now I did enjoy the story by the tree but a few (just two maybe) more stops like that to tell about the work being done, the wild life, something and (with his accent and ability to tell a story) it would have been nice to have him gather the group (if more than two) and tell them a story of something historic or just a even a fable regarding that area. Now I can go on forever, but I would have thought a small outpost where riders could unmount and get a drink, feel like they were on a real trail ride. Would have been really cool. But that's not his fault, that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Once we arrived, we found the tunnel is just the bottom of the start of the trail. While bats had migrated south for the winter, we did see a few flying inside. The trail is about a mile round trip. While we didn't hike it, it didn't appear too challenging. The lost challenging was probably walking down all thise steps to the tunnel. We'll have to make another trip during bat season to see the bats flying out of the cave

FYI as much as this is a good family event - you also have to be quiet (no talking) and sit still during the emergence, because noise or lights can scare the bats and cause problems...families with small kids need to keep this in mind, and if you don't think your child is able to keep quiet and relatively still for 30-45 min, this might not be the activity for you.

The options start with a basic plan that includes the machines and heated pool. The price goes up as you add 24 hour access and classes. There is also a family plan for a very reasonable price. The memberships are for a year or you have the option of doing a $15 day pass to try out if you are only briefly in town. The classes looked amazing, and I am definitely interested in their Tai Chi, stretching, and core workout classes. They have all different levels of difficulty from beginner to advanced to meet you at your level. I was impressed with the option for elderly to do a sit and fit and the water classes of all different levels. There is a room with a beautiful view used for certain classes. But when not in use, clients can go in and use this room for stretching and weights. I was impressed with how well maintained everything looked and how organized the areas for specific workouts were arranged. Getting healthy and fit can be such a joy when it's done through places like the Wellness center.

What a treat! I knew I was going on a horse back ride with some of my girlfriends, but I did not know I would be receiving a history lesson to boot!!! (Pun intended!) Guy French took us on a tour of the family ranch, shared some of the area history and provided gorgeous photo ops. The day was clear and we were able to see Enchanted Rock from one of the hill tops! Guy is an experienced horseman but was patient with those of us who aren't. It was an experience that provided more than we bargained for. I can't wait to go back! read more

We decided to surprise our mom with horseback riding as it's something she's always wanted to do. She had never been on a horse and was a little nervous. However, Guy was an AMAZING guide and he was very accommodating with our mom (who rode Iceman). She loved the whole experience. We also got to pet a bull, learn about the history in surrounding areas, and got to see amazing views. We are already planning our next trip out to do this again!! Would highly recommend. My husband and I did this for a 10th wedding anniversary adventure. The trail ride was awesome, and Guy even made me a special stirrup since I had a walking boot on. The views are amazing, and the horses are very gentle. If you get scared at all, Guy will stop the whole group until everyone is comfortable enough to ride on. His horses love him, and he knows each horse's personality. It had been years since I rode a horse, and I didn't have anything to worry about. read more

My wife had a bad experience, with a horse, when she was a teenage. I finally talked her into giving it another try. Guy agreed to takes us, on short notice. He was great! My wife rode Big Chief, a 20 year old huge gentle giant. She had a great time! Poncho treated me like an old friend. The ranch was beautiful, even in the winter. Guy and Gavin were great guides. I had an anxious moment being on a 1000+ pound animal and he took my off, asked me what I was feeling, talked me through it and off we went! He continued to check up on me through the whole ride. Such an awesome experienced family and we recommend you check out the amazing views up top on the hill.
