My family and I are staying in Marble Falls for the week and our first order of business was to find a great place to go horseback riding. We found it! Travis P Trail Rides in Blanco, TX exceeded our expectations for a fun afternoon horse back. Travis himself is a hilarious and knowledgeable guide that takes great photos! I especially loved the little handmade leather satchels he provides for your belongings while you ride. I was also pleasantly surprised at the affordable rate ($40/pp for an hour ride). Not to mention the horses were all beautiful and clearly well taken care of. The experience was intimate as my family of three was the only group there at the time but I could see Travis P's being fun for larger groups and/or parties. Travis played a vital role in my proposal. When I called Travis to schedule a horseback riding experience, we discussed making a sunset proposal. He assured me that if I made specific requests, he would try his best to accommodate them. In particular, he stayed in contact to share the weather, pushed the time back for the perfect sunset proposal time and collected food and wine for our picnic at the top of a hill that overlooked acres of scenic land.  In regards to executing the proposal, it was a resounding success. He was patient in helping us get acquainted with the horses, shared plenty of jokes and ensured that everything was set up perfectly.  He even took the photos and gave us the space we needed. Sometimes, I forget that Patrick was involved, and that's precisely the type of person to help with an engagement. If you're content to just ride around in an oblong outdoor pen, then this is the place for you. However, if you are expecting to go on an actual trail ride as depicted in the website like I was, you will be sorely disappointed. He no longer has access to any trails. While Travis was very congenial (expect a lot of corny dad jokes) and it was good to be back in the saddle again, it wasn't what I anticipated it would be and for that reason, in my opinion, I overpaid for the experience I got. read more

Great ride throughout the Texas Hill Country today! We had 2 adults and 3 kids under 12. Horses are super gentle and familiar with the trails, so makes a nice ride for beginners. Travis is an awesome trail guide and leads the way with some jokes for the kids and some outdoor trivia! Travis took our ladies birthday group of five out on a hill country trail ride. He is knowledgeable and a life long horseman. He provided good riding tips; his horses are easy going and able to manage inexperience city-folks who are regularly sending them mixed messages. He loves the hill country and is able to talk about the area. He keeps things light and funny--has a repertoire of jokes and limericks. He is a great photographer and happy to take lots of shots. This is fun experience for people of most ages and abilities. Travis is patient and begins by asking who in the group is uneasy and he assigns the horses based upon that and other factors. I would definitely recommend and will likely use him again. A great experience if you want an easy and simple trail ride. Travis makes this place!! The views of hill country are also gorgeous but Travis makes the ride entertaining, and is truly interested in his riders. We went on a family ride for about an hour and will remember the experience for a lifetime. My friend and I was looking for an activity to surprise my sister with during her bachelorette party. What a better idea than to go horseback riding! My friend called Travis to schedule an appointment and to see if he would be able to accommodate 9 girls (which he was able to). We at first was looking to do a ride around noon, but he suggested that we do a sunset ride since it would be a lot cooler and a much more scenic view. None of us were experienced riders (more newbies to be exact), so Travis set each of us with horses that fit our experience level. The ride was relaxing and the weather was beautiful. Travis was pretty laid back and didn't restrict us with what we could do with the horses. Most of the girls just rode on the trail, but some of us even trotted! Got this on a groupon and omg it was seriously THE BEST trail ride I've ever done (and I've done like 12) He is awesome and really laid back- these horses are actual stable horses (not trail ride trained horses that literally won't deviate from the trail no matter what you do) So you get to like actually ride a horse! And he stayed in the back (with his daughter holding the reins on his saddle- so cute!) and we got to go on the trail and trot, let the horse eat grass, walk- anything! I can't wait to go back. If you want to experience the hill country while on a horse and listening to some great jokes, go here! Travis will pick the right horse for you and the price for the experience is very reasonable. Call ahead to make a reservation, he does get a lot of customers. Our group had a total of 7 people, so if you book ahead early, you might able to fit a whole large group in. I wish I could come every day! Travis was an excellent host and really made the whole riding experience fun from start to finish. The property is expansive and beautiful, and you get to see a whole lot of it on the trail ride. Travis matches you to a horse based on your experience level, and made sure that even a novice rider felt comfortable and prepared. Travis himself was hilarious, telling jokes nonstop and answering any and all questions about the horses, property, town of Blanco and surrounding areas. He was happy to take a lot of pictures along the ride (if you wish) and even offered cell phone cases to attach to the saddle so you could take your own, too. The ride itself was nice. We did a sunset ride and it was very pretty. My number 1 concern was the shape of the horse's hooves. Especially one of them. It looked like they haven't been taken care of in years. I've never seen hooves that long making the horse's poor feet go at an angle. I don't think any of them had shoes either. They seemed well fed, but he didn't seem to care as much about his horses as any of the other trail ride owners we've met. We've done lots of trail rides and the horses have all had more personality and spirit. These didn't even hurry to the barn on the way back and one went immediately to the water and drank like he hadn't had water in a long time. I hope I'm wrong, but it was just kind of a weird experience over all and the horses seemed sad. Travis seems to be a nice guy, but awkward with the jokes and doesn't stop talking the whole time. He also likes to try to make you feel dumb if you don't guess answers at his constant barrage of jokes and likes to poke fun over and over and over about the same thing. It becomes annoying eventually. read more

We went trail riding this afternoon and it was great. We were able to schedule it at the last minute. Travis was just what tourists would expect out of a real Texas cowboy. He was friendly and entertaining. The ride lasted about 2 hours through the back pastures of his family ranch. Wow! This place is great. Wide open ranges, truly! The owner, Travis has about 180 acres of free roaming land to ride on. If your looking for a great hill country experience this is the place to be. His prices are great too, much better than the places I have found in Austin. I especially like this place because it's a scenic landscape that is private for you and your riding partners. The entire trail ride was full of hill country scenery, not one bit was roads or subdivides. At one point, we road to the top of a huge hill and just hung out for a while taking pictures. Travis is also great at that, he will offer to take as many pics as you like. Which I am grateful for. Plus, there's a cute little trail dog named Gabby that hangs around and roams with you!
