I went tonight to try the gym for the first time. The poster on the street advertised " free…read moresession" as a trial. When I enquired at the desk the staff quoted me $21 drop in fee. I was with my teenage son so it was going to cost $42.... She said it was because it was busy, which I saw one person on the cardio equipment through the window. I feel like I didn't fit their standard for a desirable customer. Not sure what other reason they would have to turn me away. Don't believe the advertising. It is based on the staff's bias of you,

Allow me to make myself clearer, during the 1 year I was a member they've changed managers over 5 times and all of them turned out to be Incompetent, immature and also poorly trained, the later one specially which I believe still manages the space today, Milos, tried hard at the beginning to please me into leaving a better review but turned out to be yet another useless member of Gold's Staff. Not only useless, when I last complained about their system charging me a late fee even though I paid the membership on time, Milos became extremely condescending, laughing at my face while saying "I never make mistakes, if It was someone else charging your fee, I would believe you" All that, while I had a receipt in my hands proving my payment time and date. Milos won't last long, but Gold's seems to keep on sucking no matter the manager they seem to find. Do yourself a favour, NEVER JOIN GOLD'S GYM! Their payment system is predatory, they will charge you without consent, fake times of payment so to make you pay extra fees which are also extremely overcharged coming to be twice as big as the original biweekly charge and they will make you feel as if you are the one at wrong. So to my last try at Gold's Gym of Terror simply to keep myself from having to pay yet another fee which I actually already had paid, I've had to argue for hours with them, compelling to all the hours they've made me waste over the 12 months in order to get myself out of the gym without further charges. DO NOT REGISTER AT GOLD'S GYM, ANY OTHER GYM IS BETTER, SERIOUSLY, ANY. All that is my opinion though, register at your own risk.

The studio has a great buzz of energy and it's a boutique style setting (hip, trendy, clean with bright orange walls and colourful cycling photos). The smaller class size was particularly helpful with the details of proper Yoga poses. I've taken two yoga classes so far (one with Tianne and one with Alan) and they have both been great. I've done a number of different styles of Yoga over the years and I especially enjoyed the classes at Fit Fx because they are specialized toward athletes. I'm not an elite athlete at the moment but attending the yoga classes has helped to stretch out problem areas and muscles that have been tight for years from different sports. In particular, I have a tendency toward tight shoulders and upper legs and in the two classes at Fit fx, I learned variations on Yoga poses that were wildly more effective than I had learned in other Yoga studios. Everyone was so friendly and inspirational that I may actually get caught up in the energy of the full program of classes and get back into training for an event. It was fun to hear the buzz about upcoming races as people were chatting before and after class. I walked out feeling like I'd just had a sports massage and also a workout. I fully recommend it!

I watched her barely instruct students while sitting at a far distance looking downward. Post class she left her phone and I saw she was scrolling Instagram. Saw her roll her eyes at me when she gave me a correction. I was told classes are geared towards the majority of the class and was told the majority had injuries. There are 12 reformers and I watched instructors sit on a high chair or table near the entrance giving instructions from afar. Just buy a reformer and take class using YouTube would be better. I was a new student to this studio but not to the practice and I was not impressed. I'll try one more instructor but I was extremely disappointed in such behavior coming from a manager. I'll just go back to classical Pilates where instructors confirm all students are engaging proper muscles minus the eye roll and Max 4-8 students. I waited a week to post this, without any emotions or tone just simple facts. How to improve CP? get off the phone and stop sitting so far from the students you should be walking around and standing the entire time or maybe this is just contemporary practice the new way to teach Pilates is sitting and looking at your phone.

You really get to work those core stabilizing muscles and strengthen your abs And hip flexors. The instructor I had was Anita, she is friendly and comes around to make adjustments and show you proper technique. I broke a little sweat but the intro class is really just a stater not an actual work out. Afterwards you can hang out and ask questions. The manager gave a speech about where Pilates originated and the man who invented it from Germany. I had no idea. They will offer you some packages near the end. The facility is clean and new equipment. The company is fairly new only one year and rapidly expanding around the world quickly. The prices are reasonable. 4 classes per month for 109. Or 199. For 8 classes per month, twice per week. You have to start with a 3 month commitment. I had been looking into Pilates with a physiotherapist and one session for one on one is $150.00 so I'd say this is a really good price for using a reformer. I have only just begun so I will be updating this post after the 3 months .

The minute I step into the studio, I know the class is going to be hard and I get excited. Throughout the hour, we participate in multiple exercises in which we strengthen our arms, backs, thighs, abs, and seats. The exercises are tough as you work to fatigue your muscles. The intense exercises are followed by deep stretches. Even after a year of working hard, I still find this workout a challenge and I become more motivated to accomplish new goals. Whether it be more push-ups on my toes, getting lower in thigh, or going into L shape, each aspiration keeps me going. On top of the great workout, the staff is incredibly friendly and supportive. Not only do the instructors take little time to remember the name of each person, but they also keep an eye on you to make sure you are in finest form, ensuring that you get the best workout possible. Taking a class with Emily Goodrich is always fun because while she keeps everyone working hard, she cracks jokes to make the class a little more enjoyable. If you want to become stronger, more toned, or increase your flexibility, trying a bar class is a must!

I'm a regular at the Yaletown location but came out to West Van for their special Valentine's Day class for couples. Wow, I love this location! I was in the large studio and it was great to have the extra room to spread out and the big windows with good views (might as well have something to look at while you shake!). I miss having Emily as my instructor in Yaletown so it was a treat to have her in that class. She's always so motivational! I'll still go to the Yaletown studio as its closer but one big bonus to West Van? Free parking!
