Every since they switched from Redcreek to GFL they have significantly declined. We have had multiple weeks missed and delayed with no communication or ownership for lack of responsibility. Poor quality and the owner should be embarrassed by the lack of work ethic. We will be switching trash companies. read more

If you have an alternative service available for trash pickup, use it instead of GFL. You'll likely pay less and get better service. GFL has systematically increased my bill to the point of double the price. I'm switching to a better service with excellent customer service for HALF the price. I didn't want to write this review--but it's the end of the day, and apparently, it's time. GFL Trash Service - Merriam, KS Merriam is switching to GFL as the required trash provider this fall, with the cost included in our property taxes. I decided to be proactive and signed up about a week and a half ago for the "early promotional discounted rate" being offered to Merriam residents. The savings compared to my previous provider are significant, so I thought, GREAT! Maybe this will be a good thing! Fast-forward 1 1/2 weeks... I STILL DON'T HAVE TRASH CANS. I was told, "We're backed up on delivering trash cans. It could be next Wednesday before you get them." (That would be 9/16.) In the meantime, I was told to leave my trash bags by the curb, and they would manually pick them up. Okay. No problem. Last week, I put 3-4 normal-sized bags out, and they picked them up without an issue. Yesterday was trash day. It was raining, and once again, I had my bags sitting by the curb because--STILL NO TRASH CANS. Ugh. The truck comes through, empties all my neighbors' cans, and drives right past my bags. Are we made of SUGAR?! Are we going to melt in the rain?! NOPE. WE AREN'T. So at 8:30 AM this morning, I called: "Hey, y'all picked up my neighbors' trash, but I still don't have cans. Can someone please come pick up my bags today? There's food in there from cleaning out my fridge, and I really don't want animals getting into it." I was told, "Absolutely. I'll have a manager get this on a route today ASAP." Great! Except...it's Friday. If this doesn't get picked up today, I'm shit-out-of-luck until MONDAY. At 2:00 PM, the bags were still sitting in my yard, so I called again. This time I was told, "Sorry, I see we've gotten NO response from the manager regarding the route." Wow. Let's promote THAT guy. She said she would reach out again and have the bags picked up by the end of the day. Okay. I gave them another chance. At 4:45 PM, I called one final time. I explained that it was almost the weekend and this was my last opportunity to get the trash picked up before Monday. I was told, "They have escalated it, and it WILL be picked up by 6 PM." Well, my friends... It's past 6 PM. It's now the end of the day. The trash is STILL sitting on my lawn, including food leftovers, and I have nowhere to put it until at least Monday when they reopen. Apparently, after three phone calls, multiple promises, and an "escalation," they still couldn't manage to get a few bags of trash picked up. So now I get to figure out how to store bags of food trash in my garage for the weekend, so animals don't get into them. I'm extremely disappointed and honestly, a little concerned about what this is going to look like once GFL takes over trash service for all of Merriam. If they're already this backed up on trash-can deliveries and struggling to pick up a handful of bags for a new customer, I'm genuinely curious how this is going to go when the entire city is on their schedule. Good luck getting enough trash cans delivered for the entire city at once. End of rant. read more

The ABSOLUTE WORST company to give your hard earned money to. They charge WAY MORE $$$ and provide the worst service for you. They wont empty your cans fully, they will toss your cans down in the ditch or about 50-100 feet away from where you placed them and will destroy your cans in a short period of time. I switched to J&J disposal and am now VERY HAPPY and PAYING just over $100 less per year. Pick ANY OTHER provider on this list and you will be MUCH better off. read more

I have had GFL for a year now and will be switching ASAP! They have charged me for 'contaminated' recycling and trash and when I ask for a picture of what was contaminated they can't provide me with anything specific that made both my recycling and garbage 'contaminated'​. They also routinely miss picking up my garbage and recycling so I have to call and schedule a time for them to come back to my house. read more

This is the worst company in the world when it comes on to customer service. I have been waiting for 2+ months for a new trash container since the service truck damaged the one that was issued. I called the company 6 times and all I received was extremely nasty attitude and fake dates for delivery that never materialized. each time I called the customer service number you get someone who was unhelpful and extremely rude. This company is extremely irresponsible. They failed to collect our garbage on the scheduled date, yet still charged us as usual. When the garbage accumulated until the next pickup, they claimed that our garbage was overweight and added extra charges to our bill. When we contacted customer service multiple times, they repeatedly said it was the customer's fault and kept giving different excuses instead of taking responsibility. Most unprofessional company I've ever dealt with. They hold a near‑monopoly in the Langford area, which makes it very difficult to find alternative services. They missed my garbage pickup several times, and when I called to address it -- politely, at first -- they refused to accommodate, even when I offered to pay extra for an additional pickup. When I became understandably frustrated, they cancelled my service altogether. I even sent an apology email in hopes of resolving the issue, but they never responded. Really an interesting company, they never replaced my damaged trash can, when i canceled the last pick was to be December 26, 2025. they stopped picking it up on the December 11th 2025. I had a doorknocker come around to sign me up. It was a bit cheaper and I thought I'll give it a try. Im currently with a company so I said lets start in June. They got the sign up wrong giving me 2 trash containers instead of a trash and recycling, I was suppose to have 2 free months but they started charging immediately even before my service had started. Then when I reached out to their phone service I was given oh yeah that will be taken care of or finally I can't cancel your service you'll have to email them. Very inconsistent pickup. They may show up they may not. No communication as to why they missed and when they will pickup. Your trash sits at the road and you wait. In the meantime your trash either sets in the house or you walk it to the road. Customer Service is lacking to say the least. read more

I have been a customer for of waste management/GFL Environmental door a total of 18 years. Always paid my bill on time. They did back door pickup since I am disabled. They have missed pick ups before. One billing cycle my bill was only $29.00 because of credits for missed pick ups. They got better until until about a month ago. I have 4 weeks of trash. I just had someone take the majority of it off. There is a work order for Monday. But I know they will not come. I finally after 7 calls I told them to come and get their can. Liars. I can understand and forgive mistakes. I cannot forgive institutionalized, serial lying. GFL missed our street's scheduled pick-up on Monday. Tuesday morning, after a long hold, I was promised pick-up today. Nope. Ditto, Wednesday. Ditto, Thursday. I visited their Southfield office and met the Customer Service Mgr. What I learned: Shortly after I and my neighbors report missed pick-ups, the Route Mgr closes the trouble ticket as "Picked-Up." That is a lie. Friday, after 5PM, the Customer Service Mgr texted that she was told that my trash had just been picked up. Nope. Noticed on-line that service has been cancelled, but still no call back from the local area manager. Impossible to get any replies despite the valiant efforts of the local CSR (she is equally frustrated). This company has NO customer service and should be avoided. where do I start! from October of 2025 to Feb 6 we have had 7 missed dates for pickup. I kid you not, we were given excuses if the driver quit mid shift, truck ran out of gas, supervisors are past frustrate at employees etc. We were not picked up for 2 weeks because of the snow ! The office staff sucks and rude!!!!! I paid through March but can't get any refund even though it's their fault! I had to hire a new service. now they told me my cab had to sit at the road for 2 more weeks until it's picked up or I'm charged. My neighborhood HOA will not allow this. We used a small company for our residential trash when we first moved in that sold to GFL after a couple of years. Our price has gone up over double what we initially paid for identical services in a few years. We discussed with a few people in the neighborhood who use different companies that all charge significantly less. Since our policy switched over we didn't read the website thoroughly which makes it impossible to cancel services unless you email or directly contact someone. They had no issues letting our business go and do not offer refunds. We were told that they would stop services but keep our payment for the next quarter because the billing cycle had started one week prior to the request. read more

To see that this company has just a 1.2 star review is a reflection on the company's leadership. I have been a customer for years now due to this company being the only company that services my area. I spoke with a guy named BJ at first as to why they removed my cans after payment and then when i called in to get my cans back, BJ was so nonchalant and not concerned at all about my concerns. I asked to speak to a manager and explained that i would call the coroporate office in which his response was a "matter of fact i can give you the number, just very nasty with it. i hung up on him. Then i calmed down and called back and spoke with Edwin B. Edwin B had amazing customer service, was very polite, took time to look into my complaint and was able to get me squared away. EDWIN B. I appreciate your kind spirit and support. GFL please hire more citizens like Edwin B in order to get your customer review ratings up and do better as a business. Your rating should not be this low.
