Told me that they didn't offer services in my area and I said it says they do online. She says "We don't service anyone else in the area out that far so I wouldn't want you to get missed" so they do service the area but because they have no customers in the area they declined me. They are supposed to refund me but that is wild the way you get more business is to have a can out front and other people see it to gain more business. Do not use this service. read more

I bought a home in the Kansas City area that was serviced by GFL in mid August. Both the seller and I have called them to pick up their containers as I use a different company. The rep was rude and short tempered, and told me they couldn't cancel service until the end of the month and then had 8 weeks to pick up their containers. They are blocking my driveway and interfering with my use of the property. GFL doesn't care, and given their attitude and approach I would never use them. After 3 weeks of us not putting out our cans due to vacation, yesterday we put them out at 8:45am. They usually come around 10ish (or at least the prior 4 companies did-what is with the turnover?!). We had high winds, I live in the country and didn't want to put them out overnight because trash would be all over the field by morning. I've been on hold for an hour. Left my number for them to call me back, that was yesterday. No one has. This company will probably be horrible just like Waste Mgmt. And Veolia. I have called 3x trying to get them to fix my garage and recycling lids. I was told on two occasions that they would be out to fix it. The 3rd time I called an employee sent an email to her supervisor explaining the issue and I still haven't received any email, phone call, or letter telling me anything. I live in a condo and could be fined for my cans not being like everyone else's. I just want my lids replaced. The GFL workers damaged my cans by throwing them down on the ground. If I could give GFL Environmental zero stars, I would. Joey, the so-called supervisor, is the epitome of unprofessionalism. His crew hit my fence and, instead of taking responsibility like any reputable company would, they tried to sweep it under the rug. When I called it out, Joey came out personally--not with a professional fencing company, mind you--and performed a laughable excuse for a repair. It was sloppy, unacceptable, and frankly insulting. When I pointed out just how bad his "fix" was, he assured me he'd return to make it right. Unsurprisingly, he never showed up. Instead, Joey decided to involve my HOA--an organization that doesn't live in my neighborhood, didn't pay for my fence, didn't install it, and has absolutely no role in its maintenance. Allegedly, they told him the shoddy repair was "fine," and Joey used this irrelevant opinion as an excuse to walk away from the mess his crew caused. This level of negligence and deflection is absolutely disgusting. Joey's lack of professionalism and accountability reflects terribly on GFL Environmental. If this is the kind of leadership they employ, it's no wonder their standards are nonexistent. We had our trash pickup scheduled for twice a week and they usually came once a week while still billing us for twice a week. We changed it to once a week and they would pick up maybe once a month. agree with comments. they are a now show. they hit our mailbox and witnesses told us not them. the machine dropped a bag and they have to circle the cul-de-sac so they saw it but left it on the road. look over your history you will see the rates consistently increase every 6 mos. we are looking for alternatives. I just started new service with this company and only on my 2nd pickup. Their website stated that July 4th, (Friday) pickups will be delayed to Saturday. Well..I left my can out on Saturday based on the info on their website. Never got picked up. I called CS and they said they sent messages out multiple ways to let their customers know that their drivers did work on July 4th. I never received a message. I check phone logs, Email and Spam folders and no messages were sent to me. The CS lady on the phone of course gave a generic apology that sounded scripted. This is their 1st strike with me. GFL does not provide the service you pay for. On average my residential can has been missed atleast once a month. With no results from calling there office. If you request a supervisor or manager to return a phone call they will not. They are very unprofessional and lack the desire to provide the service that you pay for. My husband and I moved. We had alot of cardboard boxes. We broke the boxes down, neatly stacked them along w Styrofoam at the road side. The online website is poorly designed and leads you in circles. Customer service was somewhat helpful while everything was GFL. The merger with Priority is a horrible mess. Good luck trying to get anything accomplished as both Priority and GFL transfer you to the other company and blame the other company. Price is fair, but at this point I am considering burning my trash in the city because of my terrible experience with both GFL and Priority. My recommendation to fix this would be a complete redesign of the website (hire a webpage designer, not someone that learned 90's office) and hire more customer support. Its impossible to get anything accomplished with (what feels like) one person on the phone and short customer support hours. As for the actual service of picking up trash, they do well. I've been with gfl for 6 years. Customer service is decent. Only problem is trying to get a hold of them. Price is okay. They started me at a low rate but it increased over the years. I'm paying about 50% higher than what I did 6 years ago. I'm scheduled for biweekly pick ups. They missed maybe 2 pick ups through out the 6 years, I manage to call customer service and they did pick up the next day. My location is around Toronto. I'm satisfied with their service. I'm suprise they have 1.2 star review on yelp and no Google listing. I never thought about giving them a review until super save group came to my shop and offered me a better price. But the gfl sales rep advise me to look up super save Google reviews and so I did. I'm glad I didn't sign up with super save group. Though after I went to look up gfl review. And to my surprise, their reviews aren't much better lol. But from personal experience, I'm happy with my current service so I will be staying with gfl. read more

Why would the sales rep call you back anyway. Your stuck with their lousy service and high prices for 5 years? Why would anyone voluntarily sign a 5 year contract if they were tricked into it? The Wilmington, NC branch specifically a female office worker, was insensitive and told my father after losing his wife unexpectedly, that she needed a death certificate and should have been made aware. My mom passed away just about a month ago and as we are finding ways to cut expenses, we found a new garbage company. To make my father feel like he is in the wrong, to be spoken to the way you spoke to him is simply unacceptable. The last thing you need to think about when losing a loved one is, "let me call my garbage company to get the name switched over" and send a death certificate? Are you kidding me? You are insensitive and handled this matter with lack of compassion, you were out of line being so insensitive. If I could give negative stars I would!! We have used GFL for 5 years now, the first 4 years where outstanding, but for the past year they have seriously dropped the ball. The only way I can get them to actually pick up my trash is to call or email and report that my trash pick up was missed. This has been ongoing for Quite some time now. Today, " Friday ", which is my scheduled day for pickup, and again they completely missed my house. It's starting to become right ridiculous I have to call or email to have my garbage picked up. Why do I pay you for trash removal if I have to call to complain and remind you to pick my trash up. If you have options for trash pickup where you live, I recommend "NOT" choosing GFL, because apparently they only pickup your trash when you call or email to remind them. read more

***If you are looking for a waste removal service in Whitmore Lake, I recommend going with Duncan Disposal*** Last year I moved to Whitmore Lake and immediately signed up for services with GFL. I paid for a full year of recycling, trash removal, and yard waste pickup. My yard waste was never picked up on time, and the only times that it was picked up (albeit late) was because I called and suffered hours on hold with customer service to address the issue. Now that I've waited out the year I paid for, I called and canceled my service with GFL and requested a refund for the yard waste service I didn't receive. I was told the bins would be picked up and a check would be mailed to my address. Instead, the bins are still sitting there, and after additional hours of trying to contact someone at GFL, my check has apparently gone through escheatment and has not been sent directly to me. It is unclear when I will receive my refund, when the horrible green bins will be removed from my driveway, and when I will ever get through to someone with a clue in customer service. GFL, do better. The lack of care and communication from your customer service team is appalling. And if the call volume is really so bad that it requires keeping customers on hold for more than an hour, that should tell you a lot about your company. At least hire more people to manage the phones while you work on ironing out the other million problems with your service. read more

This company is horrible. They didn't pick up my trash when I called they said they had unforeseen circumstances so would puck up the trash the next week. They had no idea what the unforeseen circumstances were however. I asked to speak to a supervisor but Julie was not available. I called again the next 2 days Julia never came to work. The following week the trash wasn't pucked up again. I called the office a message said they were closed due to weather. Although other companies in town picked up trash and the office was closed. When I asked to have my service discontinued they said they would not refund my money I had paid 3 months in advance. Horrible company they want your money but won't do their job. read more

GFL used to be reliable but the last several months, they have missed our pick up - 3 times. I have notified them via their online service request this week twice. No response to either request and I've tried to call their customer support phone line, but after waiting on hold for over 30 minutes twice with no one answering, I've given up since I have a job. Our HOA requires garbage cans to be brought in so with 2 very full bins, I will just bring them back to my house and put them out next week hoping they pick them up. Leaving full garbage cans is a safety hazard because people think you are not home which increases the risk of a break in, I will not be paying my GFL bill and will be requesting that our HOA change vendors given I cannot do that on my on since the service is contracted through our HOA. I understand they are being bought out by another company so I guess they don't honor their service commitments any longer. read more

For the last three weeks my garbage has not been picked up. For the first two weeks, with the holidays, I happily assumed I was late or missed the right day. No problem, but in the end I just left the garbage on the curb for the next week. Then it was not picked up this week. For the first time ever I called, explained, and asked for this to be fixed. I received a fairly quick text response from an obviously annoyed supervisor stating that they had no obligation to pick up "late set items". I agree, but my garbage has been sitting there for a week. There is no way to respond to the comment, so I called again. No useful support offered, no resolution. I pointed out that I never complain .... hence it felt like I was being called a liar. Made no difference - they were unable to resolve. Left a very bad taste. Generally they have picked up well, but when I am treated poorly the one time I call, it ruins the overall experience. read more

When I changed providers earlier this year I called to cancel service to avoid any billing issues. I was told that I was up to date and everything would be taken care of by my sales rep. 3 months later received a bill for services and when I called I was told that it would be taken care of and I would hear back from a sales rep. I never heard back but received another bill in the mail. When I called again I was told that I would receive a callback which didn't come. Now they want to send it to collections. Unfortunately my issue seems to be not just an isolated incident but seems to be common bad customer service. Received a bill dated 7/22/24 for $17.27, called to make payment and was told my bins would be picked up on mon and my services cancelled and in order to ensure my services i'd need to pay 2 payments in advance as well as another $30 for them to drop off bins again. Nowhere on my bill/statement does it say its past due, or that this would be occuring. When I questioned the customer service representative she said to "read the back of my bill of which i did and it says nothing of these "policies" I think they apparently do as they please, make up policies and just want you to pay above and beyond.
