Prices are way too high. The seafood department has been closed for a few weeks-I just called customer service and was told-it's open now but the person that waits on people had to leave so it's not open. Terrific store with wide variety of goods; conveniently has pharmacy, dry cleaning and a state liquor store in the building. The staff has been very helpful assisting us to find more unique grocery items. The meat and deli areas are great. The checkout lines are rarely long but we use the hand held devices that allow immediate check out. read more

Formal Complaint Regarding Negative Experience with Manager Steve Dear Today's Eagle Customer Service, I am writing to formally report a very negative experience I had at your Madison, Ohio location on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 While shopping, I saw a sign taped to the freezer section advertising Edwards Pies for "2 for $4.00." The sign did not specify a size or type and was placed directly next to the regular Edwards pies, which led me to believe they were included in the promotion. To confirm, I checked another area of the freezer where Edwards pies were stocked. Based on the placement of the sign, I reasonably assumed the advertised promotion applied to the regular-sized pies. At checkout, the pies rang up at $8.99 each. After paying, I went to the customer service desk to inquire about the discrepancy. The clerk consulted with the store manager, Steve, and they reviewed the freezer section. The clerk returned and informed me that the sale only applied to the individually packed pies, which were also in the same freezer area. While I understood the clarification, the way the situation was handled by the manager was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I needed to specifically ask to speak directly with Steve, as he did not even give a moment of his time to address the signage discrepancy. The clerk called over the speaker system for him to come to the customer service desk. He approached me appearing visibly annoyed. He then told me I was the problem, and he had no interest in helping me out at all. Instead of calmly explaining the situation, he presented me with two crumpled promotional signs that had been taped to the freezer doors. When I asked why they were crumpled, he stated that he had just removed them. His demeanor was sharp, aggressive, and dismissive. I explained that I, too, am in management and found his approach highly inappropriate for someone in his position. Steve then insisted I follow him to the freezer so he could "prove" I was mistaken. While I was willing to accept clarification, his behavior was unnecessarily confrontational. To make matters worse, he proceeded to tear up the signs into small pieces in front of me and threw them away, leaving the clerk to handle my refund while he walked off without further resolution or courtesy. This experience left me feeling disrespected and frustrated. I do not expect to be spoken to sharply or treated dismissively when bringing up a legitimate concern, especially one caused by unclear signage. I believe this situation could have been handled far more professionally. It seriously did not need to be such a ridiculously handle matter. It was two frozen pies. Steve treated me like I was scamming the store of significant intensity. A calm respectful conversation was all that was needed. Steve was walking and talking so fast, arms swinging, pacing all around. He embarrassed himself. It was absolutely no big issue, why was Steve so animated and disturbed. If necessary, I encourage you to review the security footage from the customer service counter to verify my account of the interaction. I kindly request that you address this matter, as I would like reassurance that other customers will not face the same treatment in the future. The customer service is horrible and some of the cashiers are just mean and rude. they yelled at my 78 year old mother because she put detergent on the belt. She offered to remove it and place it back in the cart and the cashier just responded with a snarky comment. read more

Charge top dollar for items here. It's a clean store and they have a good bakery bread here. Always seem to have only 2 registers open when they are really busy. They have other employees in the store that I'm sure can help on a register. Always backed up and I feel bad for the employees trying to get through the lines as fast as they can. Try to avoid when I can because I know I will be in line for 20 min for a few items that I need. Hope it gets better. read more

AVOID this store! Wal-mart, Aldi and Marc's are in the same small town. I visited this location on 6/16/21 to purchase ice and milk. It was 8:50pm when I entered the store. The cart collector was kind enough to show me to the ice box. I quickly grabbed the ice and asked for directions to the dairy case which were provided with a scowl (young cashier). I scurried to grab the milk and as I passed the liquor store and older male employee yelled at me as he provided the store closing time. I explained that I could tell time and was well aware of the closing time. Mind you, he was making time flirting with the liquor counter clerk so why did he care. As I was on my way to the check-out he once again told me the closing time so I stopped and asked him what he was actually doing to earn his wage and prepare the store for closing then I said, NOTHING before he could respond. The young cashier and I engaged again and I shared how rude the old man was and she agreed that he could be rude on most occasions. She then became rude with me when the ice bag would not scan. I started to just walk out and probably should have. She was upset that she had to do some work, I suppose. Do not shop here. The culture of the team is terrible and the store smells dirty. read more

I spent all morning shopping with my daughter and the moment I walked in the door the staff treated me with a warm welcome, but it was only until I reached the check out that I was honestly WOWED! Chris Z made such a huge impression on me by providing such an elite level of service that a simple thank you wasn't enough for me. I had to make sure Chris was recognized for the impact he made on me this morning and that's why I am writing this review. I am in customer service as well and Chris "took me to school" today and reminded me how important the love you have for other people can impact the perception customers have of you. This experience also resold me on the Giant Eagle at this location and will keep me and my family coming back. Please recognize Chris Z. for his dedication to not only his job, but to his customers. He is truly and exceptional employee and amazing person. I am so impressed with his approach to this position. I go out of my way to avoid this store. They charge top dollar, yet their customer service is poor. Most (not all) of the staff is rude and treat you as a bother. The pharmacy, deli, and customer service desk are the absolute worst offenders. They will pretend not to see you in order to avoid serving you. read more

I grew up with this Giant Eagle as both my local grocery store and as family. My father has worked for the company for over 27 plus years and I even became a part of the team for a short time. I can testify that this company not only takes care of their customers, but also their employees. It is a fair place. The shelves are well stocked, food is up to date, and maintains a clean atmosphere. The store manager Joe Passafime is a very understanding, reasonable, and helpful guy with customers. Very down to earth and goes the extra mile to help the community, local organizations, and fundraisers. read more
