Hello, Today @ Giant Food Stores # 6087 I attempted to make a purchase with my Healthy Benefits + card as they are contracted to accept as a form of payment for the disabled thru Aetna Medicare. As you can see from the transaction history I have been able to use these benefits many times with this location on my phone as described in the attached e-mail from Healthy Benefits +, Aetna medicare's contractor. You can also see they are listed as a retail location that is in network. And last but not least you can see that this retailer's own rewards card is in a phone app. However on this day, April 06, 2022 @ the cash register next to the chinese food store Teresa Meeks who has accepted this as a form of payment in the past informed me it was their store's policy not to do so. I had then spoken to a male in front of the customer service desk being identified as the "Store Manager" who told me that they can't scan anything on my phone as it could be malicious code that could invade their systems. At this time I am requesting a reasonable accommodation to the disabled under Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act to this new policy of not accepting the payment method Giant Food Stores has contracted to accept from the disabled under medicare to the disabled for Aetna's members as described in this e-mail from Soultran LLC. If Giant Food Stores is not to accept this form of payment Ms. Meeks herself has scanned from my phone in the past their contract with Soultran LLC must be terminated so that they can be replaced as a retailer in this vital health program to the disabled with such few retailers in the neighborhood.

This Giant is one of the first I checked out when I moved to york. It has been updated a few times and is probably the largest in the area. They have a very large parking lot and is in the same shopping center with Starbucks, Lowes and Red Lobster. There is a Taco Bell next door which is convenient. I like the large produce section and the dual entrances make it easy to enter an exit - I just stopped in for some advil on this visit and was able to use the easy scan and get to my car in minutes. I usually park along the north side of the building near the Valvoline and enter by the cafe. The pricing is competitive and even though I have shopped across the street at the Weis Market, I just prefer the store layout at Giant - you will be hard pressed to not find what you are looking for here. From flowers and deli to organic and gourmet cheese they keep the store very well stocked.

They assured me that is not the way they do business, and they will not have their employees treating any of their customers the way I was treated. I felt their response was genuine because the employee was fired. Greg who is the owner of the store believes that kind of behavior surpasses a warning, which I agree. This interaction with the Saubels has shown me I cannot paint the entire store with the same brush. This was my first bad experience in the store, so I will return to now that she is gone. Thank you, Greg, and Betti Saubels Literally in 2022 In East York County at sublet's Markets 3611 St. York PA 17402. I was refused service. I was going home from work, stopped in with my grandson to get something quick for dinner. I went to the deli the lady working behind the counter had her back turned to me. When I walked up, she turned around to wait on me because she could not see who she was waiting on. she literally looks me in my face and turned her back. When she did that, I started timing her to see when she would turn back around and wait on me. There was a very kind older gentleman working with her and told her she had a customer, he then asked me if I needed any cold cuts and I told him no thank you I was only there for cheese. I waited for seven minutes before another white customer came behind me and she instantly stopped what she was doing to wait on him. Her coworker told her to wait on me first because I've been waiting for a while. she totally ignored him and continued to wait on the white gentleman that came behind me. He refused her service and told her I was waiting there way before him. I reported this to the manager directly in front of the lady who refused me service. The only thing he said was he would talk to her, no apology or sense of urgency to remove her before she treated the next black customer with such ignorance and hatred. Do we as black people still have to deal with the ugly face of racism just trying to get cheese?

Unsightly like this, it could deter potential customers. Stepping inside, I was pleasantly surprised by the large variety of items. It essentially is a low-cost grocery store, organized as a grocery store, unlike an industrial warehouse type of business. Prices of some items were too high considering the dollar store within the plaza. For example, a gallon of Turkey Hill iced tea cost $2.99. That is no bargain compared to non-outlet groceries and dollar stores. Paper and plastic goods were reasonably marked down, although environmentally unfriendly Styrofoam is too abundant. There appear to be a number of homeless people near this establishment entrance. It is very sad to know there are people suffering no matter the events leading up to their situation. I think this establishment could partner with community organizations on supporting disadvantaged.

I stopped at the little restaurant and everything was homemade I had the boiled chicken pot pie and it was delicious. There was everything that you could imagine from homemade salsa to sausage. You could try almost everything before you but it which I thought was wonderful. I don't love to commit until I know for sure I will like something. I am also a firm believer in supporting small local businesses and I can't wait to return. A Slice of York History This isn't just a place to shop; it's a living piece of local history. While the original market company dates all the way back to the 1880s on East Market Street, the "New" Eastern Market opened its current doors on Memory Lane in 1955 after a fire destroyed their previous temporary home at the White Rose Arena. Walking down the aisles, you can feel that multi-generational legacy--many of the shareholders and vendors running the stands today are direct descendants of the families who started it all back in '55. Incredible Vendor Variety The selection here is unmatched. It's an incredible mix of local mainstays, from the incredible smoked meats at S. Clyde Weaver and Godfrey Bros. to fresh, vibrant hauls at Hoober Produce. You can pick up hand-rolled Aunt Lydia's soft pretzels, stock up on Fitzkee's candies, grab local spirits from Old Republic Distillery, or snag amazing baked goods to take home. Unbeatable Market Eats While it's a great place to stock the fridge, the ready-to-eat food stalls are the real star of the show. You absolutely cannot leave without hitting these spots: Jimmy C's (the diner): For the ultimate classic diner experience, pull up a stool at Jimmy C's. It's the perfect place to kick off your Friday morning or grab a hearty lunch. They serve up comforting breakfast staples and great coffee, but they are legendary for their weekly specials--especially the comforting PA Dutch classics. You absolutely have to try their famous baked chicken pie and their thick, comforting chicken pot pie with noodles. It is pure comfort food with that fast, friendly, quintessential market-counter energy. Markethouse Barbeque & Fried Chicken: If you are looking for top-tier to-go comfort food, you have to hit these stands. The Markethouse Fried Chicken is spectacular--shattering, crispy skin on the outside, incredibly juicy on the inside, and seasoned perfectly. Pair it with the smoky, tender, slow-cooked goodness from Markethouse Barbeque, and you have the absolute best takeout feast in town. Whether you're doing your weekly grocery shopping or just eating your way through the aisles, New Eastern Market is a Friday tradition that never misses.
