Stopped here thinking it might be a hidden local gem -- it has that small, hidden gym. We went in with family hoping to grab a quick snack or smoothies before getting back on the road. We had been traveling for over 6 hrs and wanted to stop and see the "smallest sky scraper" which happened to be very close to this sandwich shop. Unfortunately, the experience didn't match the expectation. The staff was not welcoming from the start, and it honestly felt like we were inconveniencing them just by being there -- even though it wasn't busy at all. They were working on "to go" orders it seemed. After ordering, a second vehicle from our group arrived. The woman at the counter (who seemed to be in charge) immediately asked if we were planning to eat lunch. I said probably not, and before I could explain that the rest of our group had just arrived and would likely order smoothies, she cut me off and told us we needed to move our vehicles. This was confusing, especially since there were only a couple of other cars and just a few tables occupied. The smoothie itself wasn't very good, and while the food looked appealing, it wasn't enough to make up for the overall experience. Really disappointed. It was a combo so I got homemade potato chips with it and cookie with it. Got a free drink for being in the military. Staff is friendly and they give you a downhone feeling. The decor is real mom and pop. Only real down side is that it's only open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 2:pm. So no dinner. They have gluten free bread and vegitrrian options such as soups and salads. Also the drink options include standard bottle sodas like coke. Dispensers are brewed ice tea. We came here as a group on our lunch break from working on base. We were wearing military uniforms and everyone at the restaurant seemed rather welcoming. I ordered the combo for $8.50 and it was super worth it! The combo came with barbecued chicken sandwich and tomato bisque soup. It also came with a cookie and chips. The only downside was that as someone who does not eat pork, I did not know and I was not informed ahead of time that the BBQ chicken sandwich had strips of bacon in it. But the staff were very nice to provide water and packed lemon slices as a complementary amenity for any customer. Walk in and the decor is kitschy mismatched living room eclectic - casual, earthy, and green; I dig it. The good stuff - Holy tomatoes! So good, surprisingly good! I ordered the 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad combo for $6.79. My vegetarian sandwich (provolone, avocado, tomatoes, sans black olives on toasted yummy bread) was super rich and delicious, as was my extremely flavorful garden salad with raspberry vinaigrette. My dining companions were equally impressed with their selections.
