I am often asked, "What is your favorite restaurant in (Wichita Falls)?" I generally hesitate with the answer, as I ponder that question and answer. I usually answer with one or two I'm frequenting more often in the current time period. When it comes down to it, I can solidly say Deli Planet is in the permanent Top Three. This year, I have been dining with Deli Planet for 40 years. Now with that being said, Deli Planet is truly my number one. I have eaten with no other that long (in the Falls). First as 'Subs n Subs' then Deli Planet. The consistent thing has been Eric Rutledge. He's been serving me since my first visit in 1986. Bob did an awesome job with hiring this guy. All the employees over the years have been fantastic and have always treated me like family. Always greeted with hugs and smiles. The one big change in all the years that turned this place into a powerhouse business is when Eric married Becca and this true power couple became one. Legends in the local restaurant business! The food always top-notch and very consistent from visit to visit. The place is always clean. All the employees seem to really enjoy their working here, which translate to a great atmosphere. I really love dining here and reflect back fondly on all that have crossed my path while dining here. Especially when I think back to all those that this place gave me a permanent friend like Samantha Ellis Stanley. Of course the whole of the Rutledge family is included in that, as they have all worked here at one time or another. Love my Deli Planet!! read more

The worse service and food experience in Wichita Falls, Texas! I made a reservation for 20 people majority seniors over 60 years young via telephone message, because this business never answers the phone. They called me back a few days later saying I was good to go and they had a back area set for me. I called again to confirm twice and no one answered again. I left another message and we showed up on the time and with good spirits. The waitress made sure she told us multiple times that they were very busy and short staffed while in a hurry. Every time new people came into the Restruant the waitress would say "have a seat, I'm busy and will get with you and get your drinks in a bit". We all got seated and looked at the menu and waiter to order. She seemed happy and excited to talk to a table of 10, giving them hugs, smiles and conversations. Whenever they would come back to our section the wait staff was snappy and agitated. When we ordered the waitress was in a rush and rude. She took our orders then walked away. Another slimmer waitress came back like a crazy person, saying our entire group needed to leave since someone called her wait staff a B world... this was a group of church going people. I think they wanted to make something up to get rid of our huge group since they were never kind. One of my ladies decided to head out, since the waitress accused her. The rest of the group was very reluctant to stay. We try to figure out where else we would go. At this point members of the group started to walk away because they were nervous that the weight staff would do something to our food. One of the ladies walked out, and I followed her to just check on her, because the situation was so unprofessional. She said she just could not stay in these type of circumstances and they went to a restaurant near this location. When I came back in from outside, the manager started yelling at me and somebody would be paying for the food of the lady who left. Even though she told the manager to cancel her order and said what she had. I informed her that I did not know what she ordered and I never ordered it in the first place. She started yelling getting loud and the entire restaurant to hear her say that the cook was cooking it and so it had to be paid for. As I walked to my group, I realized there was a table full of food on a pool table getting cold. I turned around and said how long will it be to my food is here and the waitress manager said that's your food right there. I said it would be great to actually have it while it's sitting out here getting cold with people walking past it when people are hungry inside this room. The bigger waitress came and started dropping food off, slammed it on tables being extremely rude. It was the worst service we have ever had in our lives and none of us will ever go back. The food was not hot and was not good either. I had a mushroom burger that had two mushrooms on it and everybody else who had specialty items did not have a good amount of extra sides. Have the group with Military and this business was extremely unprofessional. I ended up paying for the girls food who left And gave it away. The bathroom smell like pee we never got Refills and they charge us a 15% surcharge for a big group and never gave us receipts for any of the food that we ordered. I've given it a couple of chances and don't think I will be back - both pick up orders. First, the prices - I bought a juice drink for almost $3 and was handed a small, MINI can of cranberry juice. Not the regular size, but the teeny, tiny cans sometimes used for mixers. I was in shock, but I took it and didn't say a word because there's no way they didn't realize that wasn't right. My sandwiches have been disappointing and extremely wet. The chips are entirely too thick - and not in a good way. My feelings on taste may be personal preference, but that drink thing is indisputable. read more

I love the sandwiches at Deli Plant, but the other day at lunch I tried the special, a chicken wrap. I bit into it and couldn't bite through. The meat was like hard plastic. I opened it up , and pulled out all the chicken. All the pieces were the same. I couldn't eat it. The waitress came by asking how our meals were and I told her how bad it was. She replied " Yeah that's the hard part of the skin. " No response of I'll replace it, or we'll comp the meal. Nothing. That will be my last trip there. read more

we stopped by on our way through town for lunch, and it was such a nice spot. service was super friendly and very sweet, even helping set up shuffle board for the kids with us. we had the French dipper, an Italian hoagie, and a couple grilled cheeses for the kids, everything was super tasty. it was a great, chill atmosphere, it felt very calm and like a great place to hang out. we had a ton of fun with the arcade machines in back too. will 100% come back next time we drive through. read more

I was given a slightly raw grilled chicken hoagie with my order today. When I called to let the store know there was no answer so I left a message informing them of the situation and that I would be coming by to show them. The woman who owns the establishment called me back and informed me that the chicken is smoked and that she made it herself so there's no way the chicken is raw. Our phone call was so unpleasant that I never went back up to the store. I'm no expert, but it doesn't look as though this chicken is smoked and definitely seems a bit on the raw side. I usually love this place but it will probably be some time until they receive my money again. read more

I forgot picture but it's a great place. The front is a place to eat. Behind that is a bar. Behind that is outside seating. I got the hero sandwich with tater tots. The sandwich was really good. They have a dressing they put that is homemade on the sandwich. It is light but very good. They use shredded lettuce on their sandwiches and you can get them toasted or not. I got it untoasted and the read was fluffy. The messy was still warm and the veggies were cold. It was very good. The tater tots were probably frozen but they cooked them well. They were very crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was very busy so it took 30 minutes to get our food. However the waitress told us it would be a while so we knew up front. read more

This is my 1st Yelp Review. I am an avid reviewer on another forum. Sadly, thus is a bad review. We made a cheesecake for a person who worked there and was told that she quit. We gave the cheesecake to the owner, Rebecca. However, we l managed to get ahold of the employee, so we kindly asked for the cheesecake back to give it to the one we promised. The former employee came to pick it up. We went out to give it to her and was told by the owner that we (my husband and daughter) could get the "F" out, too! Wow! Have no idea why she was so rude & kicked us out! Don't go to this place! As a Retired Veteran, I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect. Deli planet is my favorite sandwich place in Wichita Falls! My go to favorites are the wicked chicken sandwich and the plainsman hoagie with extra dressing on the side. I also get a side salad instead of fries because I love their homemade honey mustard dressing! I have never found honey mustard better or comparable to theirs. For small, locally owned restaurants most would be happy to seat and serve a group of 12. Not this place. We showed up just before 6. When we told the "hostess" there were 12, she said "I'll have to ask first". What does that even mean?! Then the assumed manager came up to tell us they were short staffed & they wouldn't sit us together. We could see 3 empty 4 top tables from the door. We looked in the bar but no tables there. So we went back to the dining room to put the empty tables together. Waitresses walked by us no problem. Then the manager shows up to say "our insurance doesn't allow you to touch the tables". Hmmm...never heard that before. But ok. A waitress started to help & the manager made some snotty remark about "good luck with that" when told who would be waiting on us. It was obvious from the get go that they did not want to serve us...period. Not sure why any business would be ok with losing 12 people ordering food and alcohol. But ok, we won't be back. The Deli Planet was hosting a crawfish boil so I had to come check it out. This was my first time ever getting crawfish and I really enjoyed them. Although I don't have any other crawfish to compare them too, I really like it. The ambiance was very charming and the staff was very family friendly. In town for work and we decided to make this our daily lunch spot. The food is great and the service even better. The first day I got the cobb salad and on subsequent visits I have ordered the chicken cordon bleau sandwich. Atmosphere is good, you can hear people talking but it's low enough that you can have a conversation. They both had more bread than anything and the very little meat that was in the sandwiches was salty as hell! My curly fries were dry and old and included a surprise: the cook's hair. Found this little place on Yelp, decided to give it a try while in Wichita Falls for the day. Mushroom Swiss burger was OK at best and came with fries. The original beefsteak was excellent, although a little pricey. One shock of the whole meal was asking for mayo for the sandwich and being told it would cost. I never found out the amount, because I told the waitress to take it back. Shame, shame on charging for mayo! I can see charging for most extras, but not for a mayo for my sandwich. read more

Nice little spot. They have TVs and a bar area and according to their menu, offer a wide variety of hoagies, hot sandwiches,, soup and salads. It wasn't busy at all when I came in (515pm) on a Tuesday. Not sure if that's normal or not. I actually think I was the only person. I think they are going for a classic style 50-60s diner theme. Not sure though... I ordered take out, and decided to go with the Flame On sandwhich w/ a side of onion rings. It took about 10 minutes for my order to be ready, which is what I expected. I wasn't a fan of the bun on this sandwich, not sure what it was made of, definitely different (see pic). I did like the flavor of the fried chicken, spiced well and it had some heat to it, had my lip developing a little sweat on it! Nice! The sandwhich was topped with lettuce, tomatoes, fries jalapeños and I believe had some mayo and more hot sauce. The onion rings I thought we pretty decent, fried pretty well. It's my first time in Texas so my boyfriend , brother , and I decided to eat at a local Spot . It's near the base since my boyfriend is from the base he highly recommended this place. The sandwich I ordered was amazing , California has a lot of great sandwich spots but the BIG E was too good . I couldn't finish it but every bite was delicious . The service was great too, usually in my experience I don't expect the waiter to check up on us all the time but he did and that was great I liked that a lot even if it wasn't that busy . Oh and the sweet tea is real tasty compared to the ones I've tried in California it would taste generic . I'm not from Wichita Falls (from Rio Grande Valley), but when I drove by this deli on the way to Sheppard base I knew I had to try it. Loved it's retro look! My husband got the Italian hoagie and I got gram's BLT. They were both super good!! My BLT was jam packed with crispy bacon. We also tried their Reese's cup cookie and white chocolate macadamia cookie. 10/10 recommend this place! read more
