Heard about this little hole in the wall restaurant from my mother in law. The food we had was excellent! My husband lobed the Gordita's and the taco al pastor that he had. I really liked my shredded chicken taco with rice and beans. Most places the rice and beans aren't all that zoomy but at Lala's Cocina that isn't the case! Found Lala's while in Wichita Falls. The food is outstanding, huevos rancheros, and menudo were both excellent. The place is small but worth the wait and you can always order to go which they do quite a bit of. As soon as I walked in I noticed the room was packed so I knew the food was gonna be good. Staff was super friendly and patient. I was thrilled to see so many people eating menudo whenever I walked in the door. So that's exactly what I ordered. I must tell you. It was so amazing. The broth was clear and with color. Not greasy at all. The meat was tender and cut into small portions. No bones! It was evident that the person who made this took such care and time. I was able to thank her personally. This place has been nothing less than amazing. We moved here from south Texas and it's been rough finding a great Mexican place but this place is the best this town has to offer. The breakfast burritos are solid, and the menudo is great! Always friendly and happy to help. I ate the Chile Colorado with flour tortillas and horchata. The food was great! The home made tortillas were fantastic and the chile was delicious. I personally won't be ordering the horchata again though. I personally didn't care much for the chips and salsa, the chips were served cold and the salsa had more heat than flavor in my opinion. The service was exceptional! Our waitress gave us an honest opinion of her menu favorites and kept one of our party from ordering store bought corn tortillas over the house made flour ones. I very much liked her attitude and her level of attention was adequate but not overbearing. The restaurant itself is small but clean. This place has yet to fail me as authentic Mexican food. You can actually tell her food is made with all the right spices, herbs, all the ingredients! This place reminds me of Juan & Juanita's when it was open. The y have great portions and I absolutely love the verde salsa she makes. Its perfectly spiced for me and if I ever go into town I try to stop in there and get a burrito.
