Furthermore, the quality of the restoration work done by Apex left much to be desired. Upon inspection, it became apparent that several aspects of the project were subpar and required extensive rework (ie fans not secured at the ball/hip, damaged sliding doors, holes left vs patching after wire shelving removed, door handles installed improperly, stains on carpet from fabricating/painting a floor guide for a barn door, etc) . There were also tools and materials left lying around/on the side of my home for me to clean up/dispose of. Overall, my experience with Apex was highly disappointing. The combination of poor communication and the need for substantial rework left me feeling unsatisfied and frustrated. While I understand that challenges can arise in any project, the lack of professionalism and attention to detail displayed by Apex is unacceptable. In conclusion, I cannot in good conscience recommend Apex to others based on my experience. They eventually fixed the locking issue but the gap has been a nightmare to deal with. Ignored emails & phone calls & then finally a service call. They suggested a drinking straw inside the weatherstripping to solve the problem. More emails & calls & eventually another service call to install heavier weatherstripping. They did not use a heavier product, but simply installed the same weatherstripping moving outwards slightly, leaving a bigger gap & more light shining thru. Poor installation, ignored emails, ineffective service visits & still no resolution. If Greyhawk resolves this issue properly I will be happy to update this review.

Sometimes one just tires of excuses. I went to Builder's in March and spoke to Dave about what I…read morewanted. He said that he would have his best guy, Steve, call me to come for measurements for our doors and that it would be cheaper if we just settled up with Steve on the installation cost. There were two doors and one retractable screen. I wanted one of the doors to have a screen, but Steve said that it was not possible. (I later came to find out that it would have been possible if we would have changed the door from one that opened out to one that opened it. Since he had to redo the framing, why it wasn't possible I just don't know.) Steve came, but would not give us an installation price, only saying that he would be fair. Our doors came in, but we could not get Steve out to install them for WEEKS. We paid for the doors on April 11th. Almost two months later, Steve came to install. Because he didn't arrive early in the morning, by the time that he arrived, it was ready to rain. He was able to install one door and a strip between the french doors in the front. My husband didn't like the strip, so he took it off and put on the old one. The old one had the same issue, so my husband told him to put the new one back on. Steve had a helper. The two of them were not even at our home for five hours. They installed one door and the front door strip. The cost was $450. Then it was several weeks before Steve could come out again. I asked Dave if we could get someone else because Steve was too expensive. Dave did not want to send out anyone else. Steve finally came out and installed the door (that I wanted to have a screen). He tried to install the retractable door THAT HE HAD MEASURED FOR and it did not fit. For that he charged us $350, even when I tried to talk to him about the issues with his installation. On more than one occasion, I called Dave to let him know that we still have the retractable door here for him to pick up. He said that he wasn't worried about it, as he could not use it anyway. That was a month and a half ago. The installation cost us more than the doors. In the meantime, Dave at Builder's said that he would issue us a refund for the retractable door. I didn't want to give him our credit card number for the refund because I have had enough. He's been mailing our refund for almost three weeks. We have not received it. The last few times that I have called him, he has been unavailable. The idea of us getting new doors was to be able to have a breeze flow from that side of the house (besides getting new doors). That is why I went to a specialty company. Steve talked my husband out of it by saying that we would have the retractable screen. We still don't have a screen and we still don't have our money. GO ELSEWHERE!

He put me in touch with Tom who did the installation, and that made the project perfect. I admit it, I have very high expectations when it comes to customer service and project results. I'm particular, very fussy and a nitpicker. But these two guys exceeded even my standards. You would think a kitchen remodeling company would know how to install an exhaust fan in an already existing vent (they had the specs of the fan since the design phase). But no, when the kitchen was mostly done and a handmade tile backsplash was already in the owner announced we would just have to buy the recirculating kit because they couldn't vent the fan out. Total disappointment in how this was handled. We hired another contractor to do the job right. We will also have to hire a flooring contractor to fix a design issue they missed, part of my cabinets sit on a new tile floor and part on existing wood floor.

After reading so many rave reviews we knew that we chose the right company. The entire staff at PDR was amazing. When I met with Dana Lokker I told her what I was looking for and showed her a few of my pins from Pinterest. She measured then went on her way. A week or so later so revealed the design and I couldn't believe it. She hit every nail on the head. She even suggested a few things that I never thought of which made the design that much more grand. Demo started and PDR and their subs were all very nice and did quality work. I felt comfortable with everyone in my home. Even though the foot print pretty much stayed the same I have double the amount of storage then I did before because of the design that Dana created. My kitchen, pantry and dry bar is by far more functional then before and I couldn't be happier with the finished project. I would like to personally thank Tom, Bob, Kenny, Dan, Dana, Andres and Carrie as they each had a hand in part of our renovation. They were all very friendly, professional and knowledgeable and I highly recommend PDR to all of our friends and family. PDR exceeded our expectations and we are over the moon thrilled with our new kitchen!

Despite us being clear on our budget, despite us doing all we could to change scope, change designs, look at different materials to get the project to our budget, and after numerous reviews and discussions over months of work and then reaching an agreement - we were then surprised with an email stating that they made assumptions in the design, they made assumptions in what we wanted to do, and that the agreed to scope and price was not what we had agreed to in writing but more, note that this was not the 1st time that they changed direction due to their own assumptions of what we wanted - despite having very detailed notes and communication with them. This is a summary of the over 9 months of work we put into this relationship to work - after all this we decided we could not trust them and ended the relationship and asked that our deposit paid when we signed a design contract be returned to us. They refused stating that they had delivered but that the project did not meet out budget - which is not factual. And on top they stated that they had spent more than our deposit and we could have our lawyers call their lawyers. lessons learned is do not use trust as gage in working with a contractor.
