But surprisingly, this patch of grass has a lot going for it. There are open fields, fun water features for those hot summer days, shade trees, restrooms, and all sorts of amenities. There are not a ton of green spaces in the immediate area and so this multiple - block park does a good job of creating some nice, expensive, open space for the locals to play. It's not a bad spot to lay out a blanket on a warm sunny day and enjoy a picnic. Also the water and Play structures offer decent entertainment for the kiddos in your group. I've only been by this park A few times, as there are other, nicer parks closer to my house. However every time I drop by, I'm always surprised at how well equipped this park is. Props to Portland and the neighborhood for keeping it real.

A small sideline for parents divides the field from a modest play structure and a basketball hoop. Basically just what you want to see when you have a younger child in tow who needs to be entertained while the older sibling takes the field. The park is nestled in a neighborhood, so a great resource for locals. A small covered shelter, which is important on a hot day, because there are almost no other shady spots in this park. Well designed space, just not a lot special features or character.

As for the kids play area, it is a lot smaller than it appeared to be on the advertisement. There is a spiderweb like play gym, and a spin-o-wheel. Theres another area with a higher climbing gym and 1 slide. This area has swings but not many, and only 1 or 2 for small toddlers. Another area is almost entirely rock climbing (for little kids). There is a large soccer field next to the playground, a basketball and tennis court, and a skateboard area that was all older adults (who were using adult language and seemed to be imbibing in marijuana products). I won't be bringing my child back to this park. It is out of the way for my family, although I can see this is a nice thing to have if you happen to live in the neighborhood.

There was a group of young men at their cars drinking beer and smoking pot openly in front of the park. They weren't hassling anyone, but not what I'd want my kids to be smelling. There were some other questionable adults at the park. Some doges were present both on and off leash. The playground equipment was in decent shape with no obvious safety issues. We were the only ones playing on the playground which felt strange because it was such a beautiful day.

The group of kids the other reviewer mentioned no longer hang out in this area, either. There's a path that goes around the entirety of the park, which is small but does the job. It's not a big park, but it's a quiet park. Sometimes people do have their dogs unleashed in the wide open grassy area, so that's something to look out for, but I've never had a dog approach mine on our walk. Can't comment on the bathrooms or the playground equipment but the basketball court is in good shape.

The park has lots of shady trees, a playground, restrooms, lots of street parking and about 10 picnic benches. As nice as it was, it does not compete with the parks in the suburbs. They also have a major fly problem, yuck. It is also in a sketchy area.
