Honestly, this was one of my favorite things about our entire anniversary road trip! At the time I was extremely car sick and hating life and people and 2020, so the fact that this place turned my mood around, when we were just stopping to use a restroom, is a miracle in itself! We stopped in on a Wednesday, 8/26/20, early afternoon. There were a few other customers wrapping up purchases and Stephanie appeared to be the only employee. I wasn't looking for help, I was wandering around in awe at how many things they fit into one building- think mini Buc-ee's without gas pumps or a car wash (I don't know, I guess you could count the Shell next door... sorta). However, Stephanie was attentive, made suggestions, offered samples and was so upbeat and helpful! She's an absolute ray of sunshine! If I had more Stephanie's in my life, I would have zero complaints! Really, she made the trip outstanding! This is a wonderful stop for snacks, gifts, souvenirs! There's an amazing selection of pecans (I just didn't know how many ways they could mix these including spicy and savory options), pies, fudge, honey, jams, coffee (yes, yummy pecan coffee too), ice cream, olive oil, mixed nuts and home décor. They have the funniest kitchen towels! I had a sample of the cookies n cream fudge and it was delicious! It had a creamy texture and literally melted in my mouth. I think it's genius that they have single serving sizes of different flavored fudge prepackaged with a spoon! They also have a lunch selection in a cooler to the left, which had been hit pretty hard that day but still had enough options that I noticed several burgers and sandwiches. I also saw sausage and cheese at the front and there were multiple samplers. I honestly regret that my description and list of offerings cannot do this place justice. I wish I was a better writer so I could convey to you the full experience and how varied the selection truly is. You'll just have to check it out for yourself, I certainly recommend you do! We were very happy with our purchase of honey, coffee and honey roasted pecans (boring I know, but my favorite) and will definitely return when our next road trip brings us in this direction. I sometimes stop by here on my daily return trip from Dallas. The customer service is always top-notch. The product selection is always of the highest quality, but the best part is the fudge. It seems there is always some seasonal creation that tempts you, and it never fails to please. I buy pecans there for my raw-food diet, and I have never had hulls or moldy pecans. July 2, 2019 on our way back from my 50th high school class reunion we stopped at GPC. Spent nearly an hour there and quite a lot of money. I grew up in West Texas eating native pecans, the ones rich in oil and flavor. Down the street a few houses was where Sam Kovalis and his wife lived. Sam was known for Sam's Fine Candies. I would look forward to his products whenever I went home to San Angelo, TX. Now I will be looking forward to stopping in Santo, Tx. Ironically, GPC was established in 1969, the year I graduated. My only regret for stopping there? This shop is great. We travel between west Texas and Dallas quite often. We have always seen the shop from the highway, we just never had the chance to stop on. We purchased $100 worth of goodies, pecan brittle, pecans, ice cream, T-shirt's as souvenirs and chocolate covered nuts. Pecan brittle is to die for. Everything is great! We had the pleasure of being rang up by an adorable little girl learning the business (alongside the cashier, of course). The only negative thing to say is the unfriendliness is the older woman with a blonde bob cut and glasses. It's unfortunate to have not been greeted with a "welcome, let me know if I can help you with anything" while all others after us, were. However, I understand and some still have some growing to do. Even at such a wise age. All in all, we will be back with very high hopes of receiving some great customer service the second time around. 5 stars is a representation of the product. read more
