There is a Dr. Gerald Sacks in Santa Monica who is Great. He is NOT Dr. Gilbert Sacks, but it is the same address. I think she is at least a bit confused. I have been going to him for over 20 years, first from the removal of most of my left, back, shoulder muscle, due to cancer. More recently I have been going to him for a Spinal Cord injury, in the military on 9/11. I have a Spinal Cord Simulator implanted in my head, I get "deep skull" procedures at Cedars on the Spheno-Palatine Ganglia regularly, get spinal epidurals also at Cedars, with "Super-Scapular" injections from Dr. Gerald Sacks ever other week. I have always been treated well, have known his staff for over 20 years, including the 2 office managers he has had during that time. I have never seen him treat patients or staff rudely. I do know that while sitting in the waiting room, ever other week, I hear people who complain they can't get the opioid narcotics they are seeking. I have never had to ask or beg for pain medication, because Dr. Sacks know my test results and what kind of pain I am in. So, I am prescribed the medications, including narcotic. I don't particularly like opioids, as they can make you a little "loopy", have a bit of Vertigo, NOT SAFE to drive on, and give then give you HORRIBLE Opioid Constipation that requires another drug to counter act it, or when it is impacted, having to use a medical glove and "digitally" remove it. Without proper tests and observation, any decent doctor would have a difficult time, morally & ethically, prescribing opioid narcotics to someone who may either not need them, or who is already "hooked" on them and is abusing them. I know the FDA IS CRACKING down on doctors. Dr. Sacks has taken me off of Oxycontin and put me on another opioid narcotic. Although he knows I don't abuse the meds, he has insisted I keep an Narcan device in my home, "just in case". I don't want to ever have to use it, and don't understand people who are NOT in SEVERE PAIN, wanting opioids. I used to be a jet pilot, now with a Spinal Cord injury, I use a walker, wear a Cervical Collar, have the Spinal Cord Simulator implanted (I HAVE to "charge" myself 1 - 1 1/2 hours EVERY DAY), wear a Lidoderm (Lidocaine) patch on my forehead, have those "deep skull" procedures at Cedars and get neck & shoulder nerve blocks from Dr. Gerald Sacks ever other week. I'd GLADLY TRADE PLACES with ANYONE who wants to have a REAL REASON for strong narcotics, ANY DAY. I find it interesting that if the person before me, Jennifer K, from Hacienda Heights doesn't even know the doctor's first name right, she is likely a new patient, trying to get narcotics before any tests or evaluation. If she doesn't know him already, why is she coming from Hacienda Heights to Santa Monica??? Likely she is pain management doctor shopping, in hopes of finding one who will be easily swayed to give her what she wants. The Dr. Gerald Sacks I know, will NOT give out opioid narcotics to people who do not really need them. He keeps great records, follows up, provides referrals to other doctors for other medical needs, and determines what tests and evaluations that he has had done or reviewed BEFORE prescribing opioid narcotics to me. read more
