Gilbert to the rescue! I went on a 3 week vacation and came back to my jacuzzi green. I guess my last pool guy went on vacation too... fired the old guy and found Gilbert on Yelp. He replied quickly and was able to come out and fix my green jacuzzi and dirty pool within two days. Pointed out all the things the last pool guy did wrong and I'm so glad to have a reliable pool service now. He got the pool pump to work better as well as the gas heater to fire up. He also replaced my old filter with a newer unit. So he's able to do the regular maintanance AND repairs to the entire system. Most pool guys I found only do light maintanance. Nice to have someone who can do it all. All of my friends and family noticed right away how much nicer and cleaner the pool is compared to before. This was just a really nice guy... With everything going on (COVID) I decided to purchase an above ground pool for our daughter who was turning 12 on Memorial Day weekend and the family for summer...but it was a steel frame 18x9x4'. Oh my God! It was exhausting. It wasn't a small pool and after setting it up and ordering upgrades like a more powerful sand filter, solar heater and saltwater system I was in OVER my HEAD. I kept searching for people to come and help with the set up but every one said they did in ground pools only. ...except Gilbert who asked more questions. He does inground pools as well, but when I explained how big mine was and what I had to set up with it, he said he would come look at it. Gilbert cleaned up my pool real good. Just look at the before and after pictures. He came in the after with a pump, drained the water overnight. He then came in the early morning the next day and cleaned the pool with acid and scrubbing. After the pool was filled he came the next day to clean the DE filter, add chemicals and vacuum whatever is left at the bottom. Gilbert is so responsible. He made the miracle. Everyone said need to drain the pool only he said that he can turn the green pool to blue in 5 to 7 days without draining the pool. You know the drought season there is huge penalty on water usage to fill the pool. Gilbert comes every day even the pool already turned back to blue and he still comes to make sure everything ok for another few days and clean it up. Best service. 10 STARS ********** Gilbert is a TRUE PROFESSIONAL!!! I had asked him to replace the electric motor on my Pentair WhisperFlo pool pump with a BRAND NEW PENTAIR motor (I'll never use a reconditioned motor again) because it had been squealing and making an awful metal-on-metal grinding sound. It was leaking a sieve too. He asked me to send him a photo of the one that was installed. He showed up the next day with all the parts & tools he could possibly need (which were all BRAND NEW PENTAIR parts) including a BRAND NEW CURRENT MODEL PENTAIR WHISPERFLO 2.0 HP electric motor, Seal Plate and Gaskets. The motor looked like a far more modern/upgraded version of the ones I had checked out on Amazon that cost $450 (+tax)... for the motor only. And definitely a newer version than what was installed. It had a bunch of fins on the casing (like the fins on an air-cooled gasoline engine) which I presume are meant to keep the motor cooler. Gilbert went to work and had everything up and running before you could blink. BRAND NEW PENTAIR Upgraded Motor, BRAND NEW PENTAIR Seal Plate, brand new gaskets in the seal plate. I was a happy camper. Then he noticed a problem. He said there was an air leak in the system somewhere and discovered a valve handle used to divert suction between the pool & the spa. He repaired the leak. Then he replaced the water pressure gauge in my pool filter because the pressure didn't drop to ZERO psi when the pump was shut off... it only dropped to 5 psi. Now it drops to ZERO psi like it use to several years ago. Now I'm REALLY a happy camper. :) Would I recommend Gilbert to anyone? You bet, everyone (except to someone that I have a grudge against !!!) because he does the job EXACTLY the way you would want it to be done without having to tell him. read more

We were looking for an excellent pool service as we had recently experienced two that were not. Gilberts Pool Service came at our request. I spoke with him and he told me the pool first needed to be shocked and then regular maintenance. After having had so many issues, I said great, but my wife was very skeptical. She gave him the check for the shock treatment and told him she would pay him for his first month at the end of the month to be sure he kept it "crystal blue". (You can imagine the look she was giving when she said that.) He agreed with her. I smiled at them both wanting to stay out of trouble. It is now 4 months later, and the pool is crystal blue. Even after the winds of mid-October and a ton of dirt was blown into the pool, it was crystal blue following his next weekly service. I am ecstatic and my wife sings his praises. When I first contacted Gilbert, he quoted me $100 for monthly cleaning (my pool is relatively small). After he saw my house he decided to raise the price to $120 (I reluctantly agreed). He performed a phosphate treatment for $120 and told me my conditioner levels were fine (as I had recently had conditioner put in.) He came back a couple days later and told me that he could no longer detect conditioner in my pool and charged me another $50 to add conditioner. He serviced my pool for about 2 months before saying that he had to change the price to $140 because "the cost of chemicals went up." I said bye. read more

I've been using Gilberts Pool service for 2 1/2 years and just switched to another service. This is an affordable ($100/month) and very basic service PROS: they are punctual, never missing a service date without calling first to explain why CONS: the service people sometimes do the minimum required, but are either untrained or unwilling to do more. A partial list of complaints: 1) After I asked that my variable speed pump not be left running at max power all day after they leave, they twice left my BOOSTER PUMP RUNNING BY ITSELF. This will burn out the motor and cost $$$ to repair. 2) The ground around my pump has a thick layer of diatomaceous earth where they clean the filter on the ground and don't clean up afterwards 3) On occasion they have done a rush job, leaving a lot of debris in the pool and the skimmer basket Rather then bringing peace of mind about pool care, I felt that I had to check, adjust settings, and clean up after each one of their services read more

Been in Riverside with a pool for 3 years now and have had terrible experiences with pool services, including many of the high rated ones on Yelp such as no shows and no call returns. So this summer my previous pool guy stopped showing up and I couldn't get a hold of him and my pool got super green. I went through yelp calling most of the other pool companies however they all were just too busy to help or flat out never returned my calls. Today however, was a different story, my girlfriend called Gilbert and I was skeptical because of the sparse amount of reviews, but I was not disappointed. Gilbert showed up the same day and got to work immediately cleaning my filter, scrubbing the walls, even replacing a valve all in the first hour and he'll be back for the next few days to turn my pool around. Worked with Gilbert for a while and thought I lucked out for the first couple of weeks aka Honeymoon phase. My first request, I wanted Fridays for pool services so that my guests may soak under the sun in a nice and clean pool.... but even that wasn't possible. He was adamant on Wednesdays and wasn't willing to work with me [Flag#1]. When it got cleaned on Wednesday, it would get dirty by Saturday for the guests. Not only that, the pool services were done by the bare minimum. Heck, half the time I sit wondering if he's going to even show up[Flag#2]. There was algae growing around the pool, thick layers of diatomaceous earth around my pump, and barely any chemicals in the pool hence the growing algae [Flag#3]. How did I find out there wasn't any chemical? Had it serviced and measured the pH of my pool. At one point, I raised my concern with the pool service guy but he didn't understand me at all. Nothing wrong with that... I get it. So I brought my concerns to upper management aka the owner and he brushed it off as it wasn't problematic [Flag#4].
