There were several basic marketing and listing details we had to follow up on, and communication often felt reactive rather than proactive. Our bigger disappointment was during the offer and closing process. We never felt there was much effort to negotiate on our behalf, whether on the initial offer or the various requests that came afterward. We understand that sellers need to be flexible, but we expected our agent to push back where appropriate and give us stronger guidance on what we should or shouldn't agree to. He never pressured us, wasn't constantly calling or bothering us, and didn't rush us into signing paperwork. At times he was so relaxed about everything that I wasn't even sure how badly he wanted us as clients! When we first met, though, Jack came very prepared and gave us a great presentation and booklet explaining the process. When it came time to list our house, the listing and photography were done very well. Our biggest challenge was that the market simply wasn't producing many showings. I'm pretty proactive, so I decided I wanted to get aggressive with the price rather than sit around waiting. Jack was completely supportive of that strategy and, more importantly, was willing to be flexible and work with us to make sure we retained as much of our equity as possible. That's ultimately where I really appreciated Jack's style. He didn't fight us for control of the process or try to convince us that he knew better just because he was the agent.
