The breakfasts provided are not to be missed. The breakfast menu had something for everybody, and the quality of the food and service was outstanding. Even the afternoon appetizer was really good. The service at Abigail's is one of the main reasons we liked it, with the staff seeming willing to do just about anything to accommodate. Not a hotel for kids and pets, but if you like classy and old school, Abigail's is the place.

I wanted to gut-check our plan to take the ferry from Seattle, use Uber to get to their hotel (and could we please leave our luggage up front since we'd arrive before check in? - to which the answer was, "of course you can!"), and then use Uber all around town. The very pleasant woman I spoke with (those months before arriving) assured me that our plan should work splendidly, and they looked forward to having us. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two of the nicest front desk people, who took our luggage for storage, then found our room had indeed been cleaned as early as possible and was in fact ready for us for early check in immediately! The property itself is reminiscent of a period of taste and attention to detail that seldom exists any more. Our room was beautiful: spacious, with two separate bathroom sinks and a separate jetted tub and walk-in shower, plus a small sitting area and plenty of space! So nicely appointed with everything in its place, and everything working. The entire lobby and library/lounge area was also beautifully appointed, and so homey and inviting. And breakfast - included with the room - was elaborate and scrumptious. Each day features both sweet and savory options; for example, pancakes, or eggs and bacon. My wife and I got one of each and shared them. It was all delectable. And each day's menu, specially prepared and printed for that day, includes a weather forecast for the day - even with temperatures in both Celsius and Fahrenheit! We had such a wonderful stay that we hated to leave. We'd look forward to visiting Victoria again and would definitely choose Abigail's hotel again!!

Our room was larger than we expected, the balcony had a fabulous view, and the breakfasts were delicious. It was delicious and beautiful. A lot of love and effort is put into this. Sylvia's scones are phenomenal. If she opened up a bakery I would buy all her scones and loaves. The bathroom is a nice size with a big tub. So why the three stars? There is a radiator in the room but ours didn't work well and would heat up and did not stay hot. We were cold. If you are on the first floor please note that sound travels. you can really hear any movement above you and you can hear conversations very well outside your room which didn't make me feel particularly comfortable since I'm sure even just is talking normally can be heard by others as well. Didn't feel amazing from a privacy perspective. When you book it says there is daily housekeeping. There's no daily housekeeping. We were asked if anything was missing from our room by the breakfast server but nothing else. If you're expecting your trash to be emptied or bed to be made that did not happen our whole stay. Location: not really walkable to the downtown area or most things in Victoria. A couple other small things that I wouldn't even mention if the above two were no issue: The bed was okay although not super comfortable in my opinion. The outlets are really inconvenient and there aren't many. They mention there is tea, hot chocolate, and coffee. There's no hot chocolate and no creamer in your room if you want some later. I do think this place could be good for others but it was not the right fit for us. For a bed and breakfast the room just wasn't super comfortable for us to want to spend time there.

Sylvia is a gracious experienced host with great recommendations for dinner spots. We tried both Pennyfarthing and Pagliacci and were happy with the both choices. Pagliacci had a good live band. And to top it off a small herd of deer have made the neighborhood their home. It all added up to a great stay. We'll book Fairholme again for sure.

I was so hesitant because I'm usually not your typical posh preppy person but I felt SO welcome and at home here! If you are hesitant for any reason to book here, don't hesitate in the future! I felt like any other guest and it was such a wonderful night. I should have stayed all of my nights here! We particularly enjoyed sitting around the fireplace and eating dinner in the upstairs suite. The upstairs suite is HUGE and could fit a whole family all on its own. It doesn't come with breakfast though, so be forewarned! I stayed in the nautical room with a half bath and two twin beds. It was perfect for me and I slept well. I was a bit jealous of my co-worker in the quilt room because he had a jacuzzi! Unfortunately, the hostess Sandy was called away for an emergency, so we never got to meet her. She had a friend step in to help check us in and make us breakfast. She did a great job, especially on short notice. I actually would love to go back in the summer with my own family to explore the area and enjoy Sandy's hospitality all over again. The town itself was pretty much closed down since we visited in December. I bet it is more happening in the summer. She is tactful, flexible, intelligent and has a great sense of humor. The House is spotless and has nice and cozy decor. The view from the patio, where (weather permitting) Sandy serves her homemade from scratch breakfasts is nothing short of spectacular. You can eat your French Toast prepared by Sandy on the patio facing the Clallam River lazily flow into the Strait of Juan de Fuca or and watch the Bold Eagle being picked on by couple of crows. In the background you can see Vancouver mountains and fishing vessels and big cargo ships as well. Overall my experience was such as I was visiting an aunt for the summer. I will definitely be going back.
