I love that Ginghamsburg has a huge focus on discipleship through life groups and serving. I have grown so much here. My children feel welcomed and look forward to YG on Wednesday evenings! read more

This is a nontraditional church. There are no hymnals, bulletins, etc. The service began with announcements. Then three songs were sung with wording on a large screen. There were no notes on the screen so unless you are familiar with the song singing along is difficult. They passed the offering baskets after the singing and then one of the ministers preached. There were approximately 200 people there yet we only saw two children. The dress code is very casual and everyone on the "stage" wore jeans. They offer quite a few services and two of them are on Saturday night. read more

History

Established in 1863.

Ginghamsburg Church was founded by a Methodist circuit rider and evangelist, B.W. Day in 1863 in the village of Ginghamsburg, Ohio. As a small church, until the 1920s, we were part of a four-church circuit for a part-time preacher. From the 1920s on, over 50 young pastors were trained up and sent out by the Ginghamsburg congregation. These pastors studied at a Dayton-based seminary and served as part-time pastors for our congregation. Senior Pastor Michael Slaughter was appointed to Ginghamsburg in 1979 as our first full-time pastor. At the time, our church averaged approximately 90 people in attendance. Since Pastor Mike's arrival, our mission is to bring seeking people into a life-celebration with Jesus. Grow as disciples in life group community and Serve out our call and giftedness. Today, approximately 5,000 people are on Ginghamsburg's campuses each week.

So... I've been around Ginghamsburg Church since 2006. Since graduating college. My entire adult life has been shaped by this incredible place. I met my wife and started a family here. If you are looking for a place to call home or in need of the spirit, then this is the place for you. This is my home church and I LOVE IT!!! It truly has something for everyone, a fantastic family ministry, amazing outreach and the people are just amazing and friendly. I started attending about 10 years ago and I haven't left!! This church has nice stained glass, wooden carvings of the 10 stations mounted on the columns inside. The nation of India was heavy on our minds during mass intentions, which is where Father Michael is from. We heard that an entire nunnery was wiped out by Covid. All 14 sisters perished. The country doesn't have the ability to report numbers accurately, and the cases of the dead are probably much higher than reported. There is also a gift shop inside to purchase various items, crucifixes, Devine figurines, etc. The community bulletin is well organized with lot of activities planned for every age and gender from Java and Jesus to Outdoor Excursions.

While it's a challenge during this time, this church and parish keeps the faith and reminds us there is something more. Recommend stopping by for a quick mass and loving parish.

The preacher said my bride didn't have a contract but when I pulled that out as well I thought she might fall over from someone from above striking her for lying..do not book with them or make absolutely sure you stay on them so they don't book your spot away for your special day!
