And also, on that morning, I had been craving a pistachio cornetto. It seemed they weren't not as popular in Verona as they are in Florence, so after a ton of Googling and searching through TripAdvisor and Yelp, I led my husband here. Of course, by the time we arrived, they had sold out of the pistachio cornetto. I was disappointed, but didn't want to waste an opportunity to try something of theirs, so we opted for a sit-down service and ordered a couple of coffees. I got the Viennese coffee and my husband got a regular caffe. I was going to order a pastry but figured there'd be enough sweet and sugar in my coffee that I didn't need to add a baked good on top of it. The Viennese coffee was good - I liked the hot/cold combo from the coffee and the whipped cream. It wasn't the best whipped cream I've ever had - once I got towards the bottom of the cup it had more congealed than melted into the hot liquid, but what I had before I got to that point was decent. My husband said his coffee was also good, but nothing special (this after we'd just come from what we thought was the best coffee shop in Verona, so I can't really blame him in his assessment.)

Skip the romanticism of Romeo & Juliet's grasp on the city of Verona and focus on the gelato here, first off it's located in a great shopping center and there's a line out the door. Great signs! After managing to find out where the line was after pushing through people, I got my hands on a cup of Amarena and Romeo Baccio. A little fruity gelato to go with something more rich and decadent ... you know, like Romeo ... BACK TO THE GELATO- focus. The gelato has a great thick texture, definitely creamy, not too sweet with great flavors. The Amarena was okay, but the Romeo Baccio was perfection! As I learned from my visits to gelaterias it's that you can't go wrong with the following flavors: pistachio, chocolate, cafe or nocciola (hazelnut) or some kind of variation. Price wise, average with a bigger portion! Dropping a star at the lack of apparent line, it's more like who's up next gets to place their order and that it gets way too crowded, especially being walking distance from the Arena and Juliet's balcony.

She was full of recommendations without being pushy about a certain style or judgmental about how we drank our coffees. On our first visit, she walked me through all the varieties of milk alternatives available to me - she even let me sample their potato milk, which is something I'd never heard of and haven't seen offered since. (A little earthy, a little thin.) I was intrigued by their special offerings, and astounded to see "ube" on the menu; naturally I ordered an ube latte with the potato milk (€7), because I figured why not. My husband got the regular latte (€5). We sat at the bar directly across the counter while she brewed up our drinks. The place is tiny - they have the bar with stools plus two narrow tables with chairs for visitors. There's also a small water station near the door. Though she clearly took great pride in brewing our drinks and spent time in crafting them, they were made quickly and served hot. I did enjoy the ube latte, but think I chose the wrong milk alternative to pair with it; the "milk" flavor overpowered any ube flavoring she may have added. And hidden beneath all that was the coffee. My husband enjoyed his coffee immensely, to the point that he was already talking about our next trip there before we'd even paid our check. On our second trip, the barista welcomed us like we were locals, asking if we'd like to try something new or if we wanted to have the same drinks as last time. We were impressed! This time around, we knew two things going in: we were going to try their pour over coffee and we were going to grab some bags to bring home. I'll forever appreciate her patience and willingness to answer questions, because we took a bit of time sniffing the beans, discussing flavor profiles and what we like. She helped us choose the bean based on that discussion. Once we ordered, we sat at the same counter and watched her prep the pot, measuring and grinding the beans, boiling the water, blooming the grind. We immediately smelled the beans and knew we were going to get a high-quality bean juice. She brought the finished product over and let us take our time sipping, discussing and comparing notes (it's so crazy how two people can consume the same thing but have different opinions on flavors.) From there we purchased a lot of bags of beans - and a t-shirt for my husband - before heading back into the brisk morning. If you're a fan of coffee and prefer sustainably sourced beans and staff that knows origins and flavor profiles, this is definitely the spot for you.

There was a line but it moved quickly, I got one on my way to the train station.
