There are two dining areas and a fascinating little store that sells tea, jewelry, designer clothes and in the hallway, beauty products (I think). Note: It is quite dark. I felt really old because I needed my phone light to read the menu, but our much younger waiter also had trouble seeing to process our credit card lol. Service was kind and professional. Tuscan food is unusual for us and we don't eat many of the ingredients, so our selections were a bit limited. Happily, we both found dishes that we enjoyed. My husband had chicken breast, which came with a salad snd sweet potato puree. The salad dressing was so light and lemony. I want to come back just for that. My white fish was Mediterranean in style and cooked in a sauce of cherry tomato, artichokes, olives and capers. It was delicious, but enough for two or three meals, so I took some home. Our meals came with herbed crisp breads and herb butter. They have a nice selection of teas and I absolutely loved the white tea with flower petals and lychee. Overall, a great find.

Cornmeal Gold in Polanco…read more Órale Arepa offers a polished setting in Mexico City's high-end Polanco district, and with that comes a matching price tag--nearly $50 USD for a late lunch for two. Expected for the neighborhood, but steep for what is, at heart, elevated Venezuelan street food. We ordered the arepa tasting: six warm, griddled half-arepas served like DIY fajitas, with two meats, three cheeses, and three house-made sauces (chipotle, garlic, and avocado). The format encouraged creativity, but 60% of the offerings leaned on cheeses--mostly mild, forgettable, and largely untouched on our plates. The grilled and pulled meats were solid, as were the arepa bases: crisp-edged, warm, and fragrant. The sauces helped pull it all together, though often had to do too much of the flavor work. A side of avocado and underripe tomato did little to elevate the meal. Service was attentive and kind--our server's advice not to over-order was spot on. But while the experience was pleasant, the food fell short of memorable. For the price, there simply wasn't enough depth or distinction. A generous 3 stars.

For appetizers, we ordered the tostones con guacamole (green fried plantain slices with guacamole) and tequeños de cachapa (sweet corn cheese sticks) & I am so glad about that choice!! As someone who detests bananas and plantains, the tostones were actually delicious! Not a strong banana/plantain taste and the little coleslaw + guacamole were a great touch. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the fried cheese sticks. The mix of sweet and savory was perfection! Now, onto the star of the show: the arepa llanera. WOW. Just absolutely incredible. The arepa itself was delicious and crispy, the cheese was so good, and the beef was marinated and perfectly tender. This place is a must go in CDMX!

Upon entering, we were greeted by the lovely hostess, who happily showed us to our table. When you enter your greeted by a beautiful wine room, showcasing the restaurants, impressive wine list. The dining room is decorated in a minimalist fashion however, it feels very warm and welcoming. Our server, axel, was beyond reproach. He attended to everyone of our requests and provided a detailed history of the restaurant as well as the items on the menu. The Hamachi crudo was incredibly fresh, served with a miso sauce that perfectly complimented the fish. Not to be missed or the beef cheese, donuts. And one of the most creative and delicious things I have ever experienced in my dining career. Macerated beef cheeks formed into a doughnut and lightly dusted with tempura, flake, and deep-fried served with a "drunken sauce "that could be a star of its own. For the main, we had the catch of the day, which was a Seabass that was served with a vanilla cream foam topped with greens, this dish was both playful and absolutely gorgeous to look at, as well as incredibly delicious. I would like to say more, but l've run out of characters. Don't miss this place.

*** Michelin Plate ***…read more Limosneros is an upscale restaurant located within the historic center neighborhood of Mexico City. The space itself is really cool. While the decor/ambiance is definitely a highlight, their food is pretty good too. To eat, we ordered escamoles, pork ribs, veggie mole de olla, wagyu skirt tacos, and the catch of the day. If you're looking for an elevated spot to dine at in the historic center, Limosneros is a great option.
