We probably would not have tried this restaurant, but it was close to our new home on a very rainy night. The cozy, arty atmosphere was just right and casual dress was acceptable. There are two dining areas and a fascinating little store that sells tea, jewelry, designer clothes and in the hallway, beauty products (I think). Note: It is quite dark. I felt really old because I needed my phone light to read the menu, but our much younger waiter also had trouble seeing to process our credit card lol. Service was kind and professional. Tuscan food is unusual for us and we don't eat many of the ingredients, so our selections were a bit limited. Happily, we both found dishes that we enjoyed. My husband had chicken breast, which came with a salad snd sweet potato puree. The salad dressing was so light and lemony. I want to come back just for that. My white fish was Mediterranean in style and cooked in a sauce of cherry tomato, artichokes, olives and capers. It was delicious, but enough for two or three meals, so I took some home. Our meals came with herbed crisp breads and herb butter. They have a nice selection of teas and I absolutely loved the white tea with flower petals and lychee. Overall, a great find. read more

This is my first review for a restaurant in Mexico City (Polanco). I took the whole family (including my in laws) here for an Easter Sunday brunch. I'm glad I did! As is quite often the case in the city parking on the street may take a little time. The restaurant is in the middle of many other fine breakfast places too. Service was amazing and very attentive. The food was very tasty (I ordered the Huevos Rancheros). The atmosphere is very chill and the decor is very retro back to many past decades (90s, 50s, you name it!). read more

Dinner here was relaxing and satisfying after a busy day. We dined outside. The lasagna was unique, yet traditional, and delicious. The bread was fresh and tasty. The cheesecake was exceptional with fresh fruit. I enjoyed a decaf latte, too. The service was good. I found the ambiance and decor, both inside and out, beautifully done. 5 stars definitely for this little gem of a cafe on a little side road we just walked by and then walked back to. Checks all the boxes of what you want at a great food establishment. Fabulous service, food and setting. Lovely outdoor seating was a perfect place for our last meal in Mexico City . Brunch ! Our server even with a language barrier manages I get us exactly what we needed . He was fabulous. The food rounded out a Mexican weekend of great food with even greater food ! The Mexican eggs here are amazing and so nice and spicy ! The French toast with a fabulous crunchy outside and soft inside. The mushroom toast. Must try. Really great local sport for a quick brunch. We ate here twice during our stay in CDMX and both times it did not disappoint. The service was good and the outdoor seating has a great ambiance. The coffee was very good and they had many tea options for any non-coffee drinkers. We ordered the Enchilada Minera, Friojolitas con Pollo, Avocado toast, and huervos rancheros. Lovely and quaint place which you can sit and sip wine or cocktails throughout the night. I walked in on a weekday and was seated right away. The seats outside face the street so it feels like sitting in a cafe in Europe somewhere. The seabass was delicious and came with a small salad. Ordered an Aprol Spritz and a dry martini. The service is great, the food is amazing, and the pan dulce varied daily so I was able to sample multiple options. Some staff speak some English but not a ton so if you don't speak Spanish hopefully Your order is simple. They do offer English menus however. The outdoor seating is just enchanting. They have plants everywhere and lights at night. Didn't go inside so can't speak on the decor there but I can't imagine it wouldn't be just as amazing. There are many excellent restaurants in Mexico City, but Toscano's leafy, quiet setting is like a serene oasis in the middle of one of the world's largest cities. Went for breakfast and it was a beautiful setting but the food and service left a lot to be desired. Coffee was served in a tiny cup, probably no more than about 4-5 ounces. My wife ordered English breakfast tea and it came about 15 minutes later and it was not hot at all, lukewarm. Mentioned it to the waiter and he could not understand what we were saying and did nothing. Mushroom Omelette ordered was served with a whole bunch of tomatoes, a very odd accompaniment. Had to rate this restaurant three stars, Service was pretty bad, the place was not busy at all and many of the employee were more occupied with gossiping with other employees then making sure their customers are taken care of.
