The cheese bread was served with a side of butter and a side of pizza sauce - I preferred the sauce, my husband preferred the butter. Kids liked it plain. This place was always my favorite Pizza place for over 40 years. They made the pizza that all others fell short of. That is no longer the case. They no longer use the same pizza crust and it's disgusting. More expensive than it used to be and far lower quality than it used to be. I am deeply saddened that they let this happen. We stopped last Friday after our original plan fell through. We needed to pick up some pizza for our family game night and Giovanni's was our next option. We just got a cheese, pepperoni and a meat lovers. They definitely aren't shy with the cheese which we all absolutely loved and I also love how they put the cheese on top of all the toppings to hold them in so you don't lose any of that deliciousness. Keep on giving pizza toppings are delicious they serve the basic pizza no additional things like calzones or Stromboli's but the place is located in the south side of town which has more of a Hispanic flavor but the pizza is the Lish. This is a takeout pizza delivery joint but they also have some sit down wrong. I would compare this pizza to something similar to Little Cesar's or Georgios Pizza. Dough taste like Betty Crocker just add water mix, toppings were scarce, and the salad was as basic as could be. My favorite pizza in Lorain, OH. Great sauce, lots of cheese, plenty of selected toppings . Very filling. You just don't want to stop eating but you better - lots of carbs. I'd chose this anytime over Yala's (very greasy) and Selent'is (not as tasty). I haven't tried Campana's because they are just too expensive. Giovanni's pizza is a terrific value. Great pizza at a low price. My only complaint is that they are "cash only" which can make them inconvenient. I guess they do such a great amount of business that it isn't necessary to make it more convenient to purchase or to provide delivery. read more

If I could put 0 stars, I would. I called an hour ahead, ordered, and was told my total was $16. I thought it was cheap, so before I went all the way to lorain, I called again to verify. Same price. I've always judged this place from the outside but finally threw the book cover out and gave it a try and I'm glad I did. Giovanni's has been writing chapters since 1956 and I don't expect them to write their last page anytime soon. I've always heard people talk about it around the Lorain county area and now I finally tried it and here's my review. I ordered a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and jalapeños. All of the toppings were very good and tasted like premium ingredients. I especially loved the cheese. It was thick and stretchy and unlike a lot of places you really don't need to order extra cheese because they're not as stingy. I loved the construction of the pizza. They put a foundation of sauce, followed by pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms and then the cheese over top. I love this because it keeps all of your ingredients in tact melted under a heaven of cheese. The jalapeños were then placed on top. I loved the sauce and the ingredients and they way I was greeted and treated throughout my transaction. The only reason for my 1 star deduction is for the crust. A pizza's crust is where a lot of people have different preferences. I like either a really crispy crust or really doughy depending on my mood. Giovanni's crust was more of an in between with a chewy consistency. It's definitely not a deal breaker for me though because the rest impressed. I will definitely be back. read more

The crust is firm, you're not getting mushy, fall apart pizza. They don't skimp on the cheese. The mass of mozzarella forms a protective cheese helmet for your toppings. And that area where the cheese, grease, and crust all meet, and get a little crispy, is pure heaven. The sauce is nice without being overbearing.
