My 84 y/o mother was referred to Dr. Emily O'Brien Salvino at Girgis ENT a couple years ago by her primary physician for an ear exam when we noticed her hearing wasn't the same. Her exam & tests showed hearing to be fine, she just needed to have wax cleaned out. She had a tremendous improvement and we continued seeing Dr. Salvino routinely. Recently, my mom started experiencing debilitating vertigo, sometimes so bad that she would vomit from the dizziness. Upon my own research, I learned that this is often an inner ear issue. We visited Dr. Salvino, who once again provided a thorough exam, and gentle cleaning, along with a method called Dix-Hallpike, which allows the physician to find the potential source of the vertigo. She diagnosed my mom with BPPV, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. The vertigo comes on when my mom lays down to sleep and when she arises from her bed. Dr. Salvino referred us to Mallory Loch, PT, DPT, who specializes in the treatment of BPPV. She came to our home and in 3 visits over the course of 4 days, completely cured the vertigo by manipulations which move the crystals lodged in the ear canals causing the dizziness from their stuck positions. I was referred to Dr. Girgis from my primary care doctor. I had severe sinusitis and a severe deviated septum with 75% blockage in one nostril. It was difficult for me to breathe during the night, which resulted in restless sleep. After being sent to a CT scan it was "suggested" to perform surgery. Dr. Girgis never pressured me into having the surgery like most doctors do, but he suggested it. He told me I can stay on my medications in order to treat the symptoms, but this would never alleviate the problem. After going home that day, I made the call to set up the surgery. The worst part of the surgery was the congestion that I felt. After about 2 weeks I started feeling the surgery work. Now, after about 2 months, I feel like a new person. I can't believe the difference in my breathing and in my sleep. I sleep a full 8 hours a night without a problem, and I don't have anymore headaches. Many people think doctors are just after getting your money, but not Dr. Girgis. He is the reason I drive an hour to go to him versus doctors that are minutes away from my house. He didn't pressure me into anything, nor did he make me take multiple tests to determine the problem. He did what was necessary and I appreciate that. My nose was "shattered" by a baseball that was traveling over 100 mph at time of impact. I never saw this ball. It was hit so fast. In the ER they showed my x-rays to all involved - "have you ever seen one like this?" They often corrected me by saying "you didn't break your nose sir, you shattered your nose". I asked around among my friends and associates inquiring for who is the best to repair this serious injury. I was often told Dr. Girgis and listened to their stories and interactions with Dr. Girgis. I made an appointment. Dr. Girgis informed me that my nose has been changed quite a bit (it was shattered) but "it is going to be okay and we are going to fix it." I was put at ease by his words, bedside manner and self-confidence. I had the surgery and Dr. Girgis and his team repaired my shattered nose. The entire staff was great during my frequent visits. I had a sense I was dealing with the best in the business. It is now 6 months after my surgery and I feel great and I am so thankful. Dr Girgis is the best ENT Dr around. Dr Girgis and his entire staff provide top notch service and amazing care. They worked hard with my insurance company swiftly getting my surgery approved last minute due to my severe sinus infection that was causing my eye to swell up and headaches that were totally unbearable. They are compassionate kind people that are completely professional. I will not go anywhere else, ever. Although, You may wait a bit longer than usual for your appointment but that's only because they are providing others a not rushed top quality service just like you will receive. Cannot recommend them highly enough. I was so nervous about my surgery and Dr Girgis put me at ease. Wouldn't trust anyone else sticking that scope up my nose. Dr Girgis is the Man! This is the second time he changed my life for the better. After my surgery Dr Girgis personally called me on Sunday to follow up and see how i was doing and feeling. BEWARE. Get ready to wait and wait... and wait. I brought my 20 month old son to the Hinsdale location for a audiology evaluation. I was instructed to arrive 15min early for the appointment and arrive a little before 10:15am for a 10:30am appointment. We were not even called on until 11:00am after waiting 45min and when I asked if we would be up next the lady behind the desk said, "there is typically a wait with specialist doctors". It is unacceptable to pad your books and make people wait 45min just to see the nurse. Let alone an adult a 20 month old that just want to explore and play with everything. Once we got back to the room, we had to wait another 15min. I can understand a 10/15min wait, but a 60min+ wait is just unacceptable and rude on top of it, they didn't apologize, not the secretary, nurse or doctor about the wait. NEVER will we be back and I have already shared my thoughts with our pediatrician who referred us and they are removing this location from their referral list. read more

I am very happy with the results from my nose surgery. At first I was very skeptical. I am here today to say that this surgery has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. After the initial recovery (about a month) I was able to breath through my nose better than I ever remember in my entire life. The Dr. had previously explained to me that my nose must have been broken in my youth(although I don't remember). All I can say is I never was able to breath through my nose consistently without the use from OTC nasal sprays that only work for three days maximum. After that your body simply gets used to them and they stop working. I was so skeptical that I purposely waited four months before I would give this review. I STILL BREATH THROUGH MY NOSE GREAT!! The entire team & practice at Hinsdale is PHENOMENAL! I truly appreciate them all! The circumstances why I was there wasn't fortunate, but they helped curve my experience w/them into a much more positive one. Everyone from the initial phone call scheduling, the front desk, the nurses, assistance & Dr. Girgis was the best. I can't remember the women at the front desk names, but both were super cool, accommodating with Apple Pay and friendly. Debbie was sooo informative, considerate & patient with me. I went to a nose place that is highly advertised because I thought they would be able to correct my husband's snoring and sleeping difficulties; however, they did a few things in the office to try to help my husband breath better, but we ended up owing them a lot of money for little to no relief. He was offered a sleeping machine and still not able to sleep through the night. I looked into Dr. Girgis, because of my experience with him to correct my allergy difficulties many years ago and I am very pleased. From the time we talked with Dr. Girgis about my husbands sleeping difficulties to the time of the nose surgery and recovery, he is very professional and he helped us through each step with great success. I don't think any sleep study experience can be "great" given the fact that you're not sleeping normally, are wired for sight, sound and biometrics, sleeping in an unfamiliar bed, etc., etc. But Drs. Girgis & Associates sleep center makes the best of the situation. My technician (Olivia) explained the testing process well prior to starting and fully answered all of my questions. She was attentive but not intrusive throughout the study, only interacting as necessary and focusing on my comfort throughout. The room was quiet, which helped a lot and is different from other sleep center experiences described to me by friends. The primary negative was the room was warmer than the 64 degrees set for my bedroom at night. But in all other aspects that could be controlled by the provider, I give high marks. read more

Not a bad ENT necessarily, but his office is infuriatingly disorganized, he's always at least an hour late, sometimes up to three hours, and you will get maybe two minutes with him if you're lucky. Last visit with our two year old with major infections a year after tubes, we were at the office for three hours, Dr. Girgis looked at his ears, one tube had come out, the other was being pushed out, and the only result of the appointment was "have him drink less milk". No discussion of the problems, replacing the tubes, healing the infection, etc - just that advice and come back in a few months. Three hours for that advice. Ever been in an office with no play area for 3 hours with a two year old? Zero respect for patients time here, highly recommend avoiding. Audiologists are great though. read more

Care quality was very good. Office experience was very good. The entrance into office was met by Office Personnel. Welcoming, advised I would be called quickly, I was. The first Md. to see me greeted me kindly. During the procedure she told me what to expect during the test. My second was with the Audiologist. She too was very informative with some results. She also was very informative as to how some new equipment would work. This information from the Audiologist was detailed, she advised to give some time for the aids to feel comfortable. The check out was very easy, and the woman who checked me out was very pleasant. Overall my appointment went very well. Each person that saw me through the appointment was very informed, pleasant and asked if I had any issues at all. I did not. read more

Dr. Girgis is an excellent doctor who takes the time to properly understand, diagnose, and treat your issues. He has always been kind, courteous, and professional to my family members over the last 12 years I have visited him. That being said, getting a proper diagnosis & treatment takes time...so expect to wait. His waiting room is always filled, and you will probably wait at least 15 -30 minutes to see him. If you get bent out of shape by waiting, he's not the doc for you. But if you don't mind waiting an extra 30 minutes to get MUCH better care, go to him. I've been to other ENTs and family care docs who were prompt and timely, but failed to treat me correctly. An extra 30 minutes vs. months of pain? No contest. I'd take Dr. Girgis. read more

After years of being unable to breathe properly, I sought help from Dr. Gurgis, an ENT doctor. He and his staff were very friendly and informative. After several tests and sleep studies it was determined I had a deviated septum that was contributing to sleep apnea. I had surgery to correct my deviated septum and to remove my tonsils and adenoids (not a fun surgery). He was able to easily answer every question I had about the process and what to expect afterwards. He and his staff were always available to answer questions post-surgery (even on the weekend).
