We were in there almost every day. But since the new ownership took over, everything that made it special has been lost. The focus now seems to be purely on profit. Prices have skyrocketed, the breakfast burritos (which used to be amazing) have been completely changed and are now barely edible, and we were just sold (on June 3rd) hot dog and hamburger buns that we later discovered had expired-- hot dog buns that had expired in April and hamburger buns in May. Unfortunately, we only realized it after eating them. The changes haven't just affected the quality--they've changed the entire feel of the place. The building and retaining walls have been painted in hideous, jarring colors. Spray-painted arrows now cover the pavement, and there's a strange year-round display out front with a plastic angel and palm tree that make the place feel tacky and confusing instead of quaint. To top it off, they're hand-feeding deer in front of the store. My husband literally had to walk around the deer and the person feeding it just to get inside. What once felt like a local gem now feels like just another convenience store. Cold, impersonal, and disappointing. There are even concerning rumors that a makeshift storage area in the back is being used as a place to live, which raises serious health and safety concerns. It's a real shame to see such a beloved place lose its soul.

Then I ask about the ice teas he seemed so put out so I ended up getting Caymen margaritas, and a six pack of citrus Smirnoff drinks. I go up to pay talking to this guy and asking if he can order them and he tells me they don't have enough room to get all the different flavors. You lost my business. I told him I was going to go to another store, he was fine with that. To the horrible sales guy There was nobody else in the store so it's not like you had other things going on. You acted like customer service wasn't even your job. The good news I found a liquor store very close to my house. I went to check it out and they were over $1 less than the state average for fuel prices. This makes what the news called " a gas pricing war " since all the other stations in the area lowered their prices as well. This usually is just a special price when a new station opens up, but with high gas prices, I didnt want to miss out, when I arrived there was a line of cars waiting to fill up. The interior of the store was clean and fully stocked and checkout was quick and effortless.

I was checking out with a gift card and the clerk could not figure out how to process it for payment, which was fine because she called her manager for help. This is when the horrendous customer service began to take place. The manager who was a young caucasion male, with short dark hair and a baseball cap ran my card and told me that it was no good and had no money on it at all. I knew that there was still money on it and he was also horribly rude about it and refused to come to any sort of solution or comfort me about the situation. I had to drive clear all the way over to the other nearby location and sure enough, there was still money on it and I was able to purchase my B-12! Thank you to the Hampden and Wadsworth location for actually being nice, and knowing what they were doing! I won't be back to the Kipling and Coalmine location until this young man is gone! But I do still think that his staff does a good job!

This place had everything you needed: decent snacks, a hot griddle, and enough Bigfoot swag to make you wonder if Sasquatch himself was running the register. It's a fun little roadside stop with a lot of character. No giant beaver statues or fancy travel center vibes, just good old-fashioned snacks, food, and a whole lot of Bigfoot. A true hidden gem from the days before every gas station became a destination!
