This is, hands down, one of the better stores I have ever been in from a spirit point of view. Whiskey is my jam, but the allocations that were out across the board were stunning tbh. I was in town for a wedding and randomly decided to drop in. Every employee was wonderful - experienced and friendly. I had a great whiskey convo with a gentleman with an epic mustache and each employee was just as friendly and knowledgable as the last. Having been collecting for years now, I try to gravitate towards single barrel selections - a great way to get a twist on a known taste/profile. I was guided towards pick, after pick, after pick. I ended up walking away with 4 store picks - and they are all delicious (2 of which are arguably the best of that brand I've ever had). Sufficient to say I will be back, I will most likely prioritize a stop next time I'm in Denver (I'm based in Chicago). I cannot recommend this place enough in terms of product and overall experience in the store. I've had my fair share of barrel picks and given the quality and consistency of the ones I've had from there, I can tell their pick team/process is absolutely top tier. The owners randomly open and close whenever they choose, and in the last two weeks I have personally had to call them because delivery trucks were waiting outside for hours while the store was supposed to be open. Inside, the store is cluttered, disorganized, and in my opinion a safety hazard. They rarely stock the store properly, leaving products in boxes so customers have to dig around to find what they need. The store is rarely clean, organized, or welcoming. They have expanded into chips and other food items, but I have seen serious sanitation concerns, including food items that appeared to have been damaged by mice. Customer service is poor. Staff have ignored customers at the register while talking on the phone. I have also seen people asleep in the store, which makes the business feel poorly managed and unsafe. There have also been public arguments and fights involving the owners, both inside the store and outside on the street. Between the disorder, theft concerns, break-ins, arguments, and unsafe conditions, this store has become a danger and burden to the City Park West community. The former owners treated people with respect. They supported the neighborhood, gave birthday gifts to customers, participated in community programs, and were seen by many of us as family. The new owners do not provide that same care, respect, cleanliness, safety, or community support. Many people in City Park West have already stopped shopping there. Those who can go to other liquor stores should consider doing so. Unfortunately, some elderly neighbors and people without transportation do not have that option, and this store is taking advantage of its convenient location while giving little or nothing back to the community. City Park West deserves better. This was a totally random stop for me on the way back from the burbs to a bday party. When I was in grad school at DU (many, many moons ago) I actually lived just up the street from here but have no recollection of making any visits to Sir. You'll find all the typicals here - all your mainstream beers, some imports, a lot of wine and a shocking amount of shooters. I was a little hesitant to much for any of the wines here because it was actually pretty hot in there. So, I ended up with a bottle of chilled champagne. Hope it turned out to be tasty! Anyhoo, nothing fancy here (no champagne in cans, boo hoo) but totally serviceable.
