We first visited Karate America in Brookfield for a birthday party Summer of 2019. We signed up for…read morea trial which was $35 for 6 weeks 2x a week. We were unable to commit to 2x per week, so the program extended us to 8 weeks 1x per week. We were pleased with this as we said the only way we'd be able to commit to the program would be for 1x per week. Mr. Montello assured me that this was NOT a problem. I was put off by his "used car salesman" persona, but my child wanted to do the program, so we agreed to do the trial. We told them we were looking at the program for my son ONLY and were letting our daughter participate in the trial ONLY (as she had other commitments). They tried to push having my daughter in the program and I firmly said "no" several times before they let it go. Five weeks into the trial we signed a contract and committed to 6 months of 1x per week. We returned on week 6 (today) and I was pulled aside by Mr. Hansen who asked me why we couldn't commit to 2x per week and that our child wouldn't be able to continue the program if he didn't do 2x/week. I was up front about it 2 months prior at the birthday party even before we began the trial and were told we would be welcome. I mentioned this several more times and obviously it was agreed upon when we SIGNED THE CONTRACT. We feel as though this is a dishonest business model, set out to sign up as many bodies as possible and not consider the actual people. They wanted our money and wanted to pressure us into paying more money and committing to more time after we even signed a contract. We could only commit to 1 day a week for both financial and logistical reasons. Disappointing and dishonest business. I then also had to explain to my 7 year old why we were no longer welcome after he became so excited to join only the week prior. We do not request anything from the business. We want others to be aware that this program uses pressure and deceptive measures to force families to commit beyond their abilities. We believe they go against their OWN core values and want others to be aware of this.

Over the past couple of years, we've seen tremendous growth in his confidence, discipline, and focus -- both in and out of class. The instructors are outstanding. They're not only highly knowledgeable and experienced, but they also have a special talent for working with kids of all ages and abilities. They're patient, encouraging, and know exactly how to motivate and challenge their students in a supportive way. One of the things my son, William, enjoys most is the well-structured classes. He looks forward to each session and takes great pride in being able to show off the skills he's worked hard to develop. Our sons left feeling down after being belittled and yelled at by Chay repeatedly during classes. When we tried to address this, he yelled and tried to do the same to my husband. All while my husband was holding our sleeping toddler. We tried to get a refund obviously because there is no way I am taking my sons back there. He broke the trust and confidence we had. We would not be leaving our children in his guidance any longer. He of course said that his contract clearly states he does not give refunds. What a bunch of crap. So disappointing. I feel so bad that I put my kids through that. Ugh. Please stay away from him. At least I hope I can save other families the heartache we experienced. I also hope he loses business's because of my post and his reputation is hurt. This is no way to run a business nor treat people.

I have been taking martial arts classes here for the last couple of months and thoroughly enjoy the…read moreinstructors, atmosphere, and location. This is my first martial arts practice I have taken so I don't have experience comparing it to other dojos or studios. The place is located in the business park of Cedarburg. Walking in there is a waiting area with magazines and about a dozen chairs to watch the main room that is about 25' x 80' equipped with kick boxing bags, mixed martial arts bags (holdable bags that represent the torso of a human), focus mitts, and tons more of equipment. There are separete changing rooms for men and women with lockers and hooks for your jackets. There is a smaller room off to the side that has the same equipment but is around 15' x 40'. In the back there is a room that is just as big as the front room that he uses as a before/after school program (which he picks kids up from school) and a workout room. Master Chay, who teaches most of the classes himself is a 6th (maybe even 7th) degree black belt that will work you out harder than anything you have done. I go on Monday and Wednesday at 7:15-8:15 for Krav Maga, which is an Israeli martial arts. I also go on Saturday at 9 AM for Cardio Kickboxing. I highly recommend Master Chay to parents and kids who are looking for a workout while learning self defense and discipline.

We gave him a blow-up punching bag for Christmas and he really enjoyed using it, so we figured he should learn proper punching and kicking. The 2- private lessons were great. One-on-one attention with Master Aaron to learn the 5 basic kicks and punches. After the 2 private lessons, my son entered the monthly classes. Master Aaron's students were very polite and welcoming, and made him feel part of the group from the second he walked in. My son has made drastic improvements in his techniques, and now starts his classes to learn the forms. He is always excited to go to class and has never complained that he has class (like he has done in the past with going to soccer practices/school). He also has grown in his self confidence. He was shy at the beginning of class, and now he is speaking up more in public situations, more motivated to do his chores, and most recently he has really become a leader in other activities with great behavior, focus and great listening (he has even spoken up a few times to tell other kids to pay attention and focus at soccer practice; I'm the coach and my jaw dropped when that came out of his mouth, as last year he would have just stood there chin down and watched the other boys be naughty; he never joined in the bad behavior, but he would have never spoken up against it). Other things that have impressed me: * My son can do a perfect plank ON HIS KNUCKLES for what seems like forever. * Master Aaron is a great mix of fun and discipline. He has fun with the kids and makes the class fun (the one place he says they can be as loud as they want and will never get yelled at for being too loud when punching and kicking.). But the kids also know the limits and when it is time to listen; that having fun does NOT mean not listening and disrespect. * Everyone helps out, from the lowest belt to the highest, everyone helps out and is an important part in the training, making everyone feel responsible and included. * Class sizes are smaller than other places I have seen and everyone gets individual attention, no one gets lost in the group.
